  1. Translation: The official Six Flags México webpage now features a countdown for Medusa's grand opening:
  2. The Boomerang AND the SLC are both actually pretty good at SFM Not to mention our Boomerang's historical relevance!
  3. 3 days until Medusa opens!!! In the meantime, we all cry for Baby Bugs Bunny
  4. New testing video! And it's awesome! (Via https://www.facebook.com/pages/El-mundo-de-las-montanas-rusas) [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] I went to the park yesterday, and Medusa is SO LOUD! You can hear it's roar from anywhere in the park!!! They also posted a picture of the new entrance and the main part of the queue: Also SFM posted a close-up of the new Medusa entrance: Apparently there is going to be some sort of pre-show/dark ride in the middle of the queue. You will walk through the "Iron Horse Mining Co." building, who knows what you might find in there... (Photos via montanarusa.com FB)
  5. There is currently a contest going on to become one of the first riders. Contest closes on Sunday June 8th. So, I'm pretty sure Medusa Steel Coaster will open between June 10th-15th.
  6. That view is just amazing!!! But it's sad to see that they chopped off so many trees (that area used to look like a jungle, seriously!). I hope they plant new ones because all that vegetation really improved the experience of riding the old Medusa!
  7. Today arrived the second train for Medusa. And it's orange! Does anybody know if Goliath is also getting a red train besides the orange one they showed last week?
  8. More pictures! The third section of track that you have been wondering about some days ago is ready, take a look: And the third inversion is halfway complete: There is no photo of it, but yesterday I saw that they are starting to build the 2nd inversion.
  9. Yes, that was my first thought. But yes, it looks new. Old Medusa's transfer section looked really worn out and I'm sure that the measurements are different. Maybe they are using wood only for the car barn and they will use steel for the transfer track itself...
  10. Looks like at least one train has been put into place! From SFM's Facebook: Looks like the transfer track or the storage section... Interesting to see that they used wood track. Have you noticed anything similar on TNTG or IR?
  11. New pictures! From Rocky Mountain's Facebook. Prepare to fall in love (if you haven't already):
  12. Slingshot is going up! It's scheduled to open in a few weeks.
  13. Haha, no, they have just improved at using photoshop but they keep recycling photos over and over. I wonder what is the real coaster those people are riding...
  14. Hello folks! New picture of MSC posted by Six Flags Mexico: I fall in love wih this coaster more and more with every photo! Also, our friends at montanarusa.com posted several park updates yesterday, all photo credit goes to them. Here is Medusa's third drop as seen from the main plaza of Pueblo Mexicano, just after you enter the park. In the back you can see the supports ready for the 3rd and last barrel roll. In this pic you can see that the Pueblo Vaquero, the area of the park where MSC is located, is going through a complete refurbishment (And a random Hawkgirl walking). Aaand, last but not least, SlingShot pieces are still at the parking lot waiting. The park announced it will open in a few weeks. Greetings from Mexico City!
  15. Well, in my humble opinion I think everybody is free to classify coasters the way they feel more comfortable to, because as far as I know there is not any "official" classification. It is as OK as the people who says "I don't give a $#% as long as it's an amazing ride". For me: -A wooden coaster is the one with wood structure and (mostly) wood track. Obviously all wood coasters do have steel parts just as any other wood structure does (nails, screws, etc) without them making the coaster a "hybrid". -A steel coaster is the one with structure and track both made of steel. -A hybrid coaster, is the one that mixes steel structure and wood track (e.g. Hades 360) or vice versa (IRat). Also the ones with mixed structure in a significant way (not nails, not screws nor coasters with 10 steel beams and 1000000000000 made of wood) count as hybrid for me. So, as a (personal) conclusion: Goliath is a hybrid coaster. IRat, TNTG and MedusaSC are also hybrids but in a different way. Outlaw Run is a woodie. An RCM is the most innovative and amazing coaster manufacturer nowadays!!!
  16. Yeah! They have this really big parking lot behind Batman and Superman that would be awesome for an all new themed area or a pretty big coaster. But there is also a big residential area right outside, filled with rich people who love to complain about everything. They caused the delay on Superman's construction from 2001 to 2004 and I'm sure the park will think about it twice before trying to build anything in there again.
  17. In other news, this time not related to Medusa Steel Coaster, SFM is getting a Sling Shot ride. Photo by MontanaRusa: This will be an up-charge ride, however there is no official announcement yet about the extra cost nor the location. I think it might be placed next to Boomerang, where the "Hollywood Tours" (Vintage Cars) used to be.
  18. The only steel supports were added by RMC and are the bright silver bars right beneath the orange rails. The rest of the structure is 100% wood. Hahaha. Nice analogy. As you can see, the wood structure of that turnaround looks way too wide for the track. The reason is that the old turnaround was a lot taller than it is now. With the remake, they reduced it to around 2/3 of it's original height. Medusa's original structure starts wider at the bottom and gets narrower at the top. This is how it used to look before vs now.
  19. 2 different cranes. One is 50m (164ft) tall and the other is 46m (150ft) tall. As a fun fact, both had colorful christmas lights as part of SFM's holiday season.
  20. Fresh from SFM's official Facebook! I can't wait!!!
  21. My last coaster of 2013 was Superman El Último Escape. SFM. (And I am hoping the first one of 2014 to be Medusa Steel Coaster!)
  22. Hello! My name's Mike and I'm new to this forum. I'm glad to read all your interest and excitement about Six Flags Mexico and it's new coaster. Well, I visited the park last week during Festival del Terror (our Fright Fest!) and I was able to take these pics of MSC. I can't wait for summer 2014!!! Big crane towering the structure. About half of the lift hill track is in place.
