Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

See what I am getting at is that I know the park has to change to make money and have more people come back to the park (though really we are talking about SFStL so we dont expect much), but it would be nice to reintroduce rides that long since fallen, stuff like a tea cup or a rotor ride; I mean there classics of a begone era when flats used to rule many parks scenery. I mean seeing a revamp sky ride would be awesome, is it necessary, no; but still it is nostalgia that most people don't get to ride on these days. And we all new how much MORE beautiful the park was before the major in and out of rides and moving stuff around, I mean I know it would be hard for a park to do so but it still would nice to see more effort to see more grass and less asphalt. As for the other defunct parks in Saint Louis, yes they where old and yes the land given to them was small, but look at Coney and Luna in NY, if Chain of Rocks and the Highlands were still around we might see a similar story and maybe a very different Saint Louis. Coney and Luna are old, but they still got a lot of kick for what they are. And yes I love old cars, and I get what you mean, it is like seeing a old 50's Chevrolet Bel Air with a big 20ish thin wall chrome wheels. That makes me kinda upset when I see that. -

Yeah true, but you never know, the wood could still be reusable as all they would have to do is replace what is rotten. Now if they do it that way and like I've said already, they open it back up, that would make it look awesome. But like you said they might actually make it look pretty nice, I mean they did so with boomerang. It looks like it was almost meant to be, but it still is suckish to lose the bumper cars. And haha, I know right, hey people can dream lol. I hope it is something similar, if it turns out not to be a aqua; I ain't looking for a big ticket attraction, just something nice to squeeze in next season. But if we get something all together different, well of course yes that would become a shocker, just everyone dont lose your cool when we see what we get haha -

Thats what I thinking about with the theaming, if only if someone can give them a nudge to do it right haha. I would think if they gut the old ride and make the aqua fit, that could save some money, and to re-theme the ride itself. And I'm glad to see that side of the park get some love, it needs it. -

Either River King Mine Train or Screaming Eagle at SFStL **depends on where you stand with river king as the original side that was always open since the 70's is now long gone. and the side less frequently used is now operating -

Haha awesome, I cant wait to ride both Lol I live like 50mins away from the park- so yes I know it is very wonderful park and has a nice feel to it with some very decent theming, just with the additions and removal of rides so often since the 70's, I think it might be time to recollect and get the theming back on track or redone. And by confusing I meant the theming is confusing plus why they blocked old unused paths I am a nostalgia person, I like place like Knobels, where they try to preserve or even remake old classics like the Flying Turns, and I would love to see some old nostalgia back in the park. And people want to see pics because we are fascinated by the nostalgia of a SBNO ride, we love history, and we love to see what time has done to the ride and how they are getting ready for removal and taking out of the old ride. It's history in the making for a lot of us. Yes exactly my point, we want to preserve the parks history because there are many who would not as long as they they get what they want. And Vonnie that's exactly what I was thinking, that's why I was inquiring about them, it is a classic ride. And omg the floor dropped also how freaking awesome. I if I remember from pics the queue line had some where you could stand up high and look down and watch people spin that is very cool. -

Yup he is quite right, I would just say skip batman if you already rode it, but thats my personal opinion. I don't go in the summer for that very reason because of how crowded they get. I would say hit the back three first and work your way up, by the end of the day, most people has worked there way to the back while your in the front (well expect for the poor souls who are stuck waiting for the batman). And please take many many pictures of Hannibarrel -

Ok thanks, if I go back this year for fright fest I will have to try that. And I think they just need a re-theme of the whole park, I mean it got to be cheaper than expanding, and make the whole park nicer and less confusing. Maybe open up stuff like unused pathways and such like the Billboard in the middle of the walkway on the other side of the chevy building or the unused s curve lol. Or maybe re-pave and go less asplatish, idk just saying. Lol thanks I will have to get on to their scrambler and try it out, it did look fun, I like the one over there at Holiday World; is it comparable? Another ride I also haven't got the chance to ride is the enterprise flat, that thing looks crazy. And if they didn't scrap the rotor, that would be a nice re addition, but if they did oh well lol. And that building also got the best of my curiosity, I have no idea why, there ain't many other things there that has expect for that. -

Thank you!! I was always wondering about that, I wonder if they are going back to an open concept? and in 2010 I walked around it a couple of time till I found a small of enough clearing to "peak in" which is probably the west side. I could never see it from Ninja, I herd you could, maybe I wasn't looking in the right place? I also hope they do something with the weird buildings on the other side of the ride on the dead end street next to the chevy building (from google maps it is a s bend walkway that goes under another bridge for the train and leads to the palace thing) Also did they scrap or move the rotor some where else? I know there are rides that I am still finding every time I go (which is once or twice a year) like the scrambler which I still have not got a chance to ride. I am guessing that whole entire area was themed to the old west at some point. Oh and one more question, something that has sparked my curiosity, the building next to the Hannibarrels that houses the restrooms downstairs. Did they use the upstairs for something at one time? Like a walk-by attraction of some sort? -

Even the station is dead on that side, I always see the station with 1 or 2 people in it And ha the fist couple times I was there I didn't know either till I got interested in these type of sites. Alsowas the ride as fully open, like 360 degree vision, because the pic of facebook makes it seem so. I also heard they had a rotor flat, what happened to that, I remember it was themed to the same section as the Hannibarrels. I would think it would be fun to have a rotor back in that section. -

For living in southern il and being close to both SFStL and HW, I would chose Six Flags any day, sure it is more expensive and it may not be the best park but I love it. Holiday World is ok, but really 3 wood and a bunch of flats, not much variety and I hate water parks so it ain't worth it granted HW is a beautiful park and cheap(er). Now I would rather go to Kings Island or Silver Dollar any day over those two parks. -

(Aside from the fact that I can think of a thousand better ways to spend my time) There are areas of the queue under Batman that I haven't seen used since the ride's first year of operation, which are now mostly used for storage. Using these areas would eliminate said teens hurdling over the pointless Gotham area, and they could be chained off when they aren't needed. I think a lot of people don't re-ride Batman, because it takes forever to get back to the station. You can get back to the station in about a minute in almost all of the 8 or so Batman clones I've ridden with better designed queues. I guess if you like walking through pointless pathways where the themeing has been removed or is falling apart, then Batman queue is your bag. Change is OK sometimes. Agreed, I remember when they had the old police car and the water working from the hydrant, it was pretty cool, not spectacular but cool. Now it is just pointless, and boring to stand in the queue with nothing to look at but concrete or the trains going by. And I have never seen them use the queue line to the right of the mock up car wreck or inside the station building underneath Batman. Every time the line is backed up for me, all the patrons just follow the outside path, and out onto the crazy s-bend(s) part which is another wtf moment all the way out to the front and I know then thats easily a 60min wait or more. -

They scrapped it. How about moving the Moon Cars to a better spot a wrapping a junior coaster around American Thunder where the cars currently are? I was thinking that too, but I also thought that could be a nice spot for the go carts, and Vonni is right it would be better to have it by the kids area And darn that sucks, I never seen it before, was the coaster any good of a ride and was there a reason behind the scrapping i.e rusty or costly to fix? Edit: Looking at google maps there is a nice clearance behind characters cafe, or else have it wrap around behind the amphitheater, maybe they could squeeze it in next pandemonium there looks to be a small clearing there. Other wise the go tracks will be the next best thing -

But still if they REALLY wanted to they could, I mean like you said they wanted to put boomerang there and they did with a little help. So if they EXPAND over into that section in the woods they could have a very good reason to do so, if such devotion is willing to a classic ride, but that's if. And true you can look at American Thunder like that, but I want to see a more positive side then just "stick it there because it fits", Also didn't they have a junior coaster there before all this? I wonder if they would rebuild that ride somewhere in park like the go carts, if they haven't scraped it. Anyway I like my reason, it would be cool if they can fit another couple coasters in that area,to make it three all the way around the park sections lol. But I think it is a already a little tight in that area. -

Heck I would say update the engines while they are at it, I mean it would be like a brand newish ride, new location plus newer engines that will have a positive cause there new and less maintenance. Also a hilly layout would be awesome. Also they could grade the land? I mean they would do it anyway when pouring slab lol Probably cause it is closer to the front and that way they have a coaster up there in that section, I mean look at it this way 1. 3 coasters in the back Boss, Screamin Eagle, and Boomerang 2. 3 coasters Batman/Ninja/River Mine on the right side 3. 2 in the middle Mr. Freeze and Pandemonium' 4. 1 coaster on the left side aka American Thunder Makes sense I think haha Probably either to make clean up easier or even better they are going to reuse the building if the put a Aqua Twist in it to keep the theming and cost down -

I was thinking of it weaving in and out of the forest in the back, that to me would be awesome That could make for an awesome Fright Fest attraction. Huh, it could, imagine a forest of spooky things and people that jump out at ya lol or even rig the cars to take over and self drive after reaching a certain area -

I know right, I've seen pics in the old days when the location and layout made sense and looked awesome. Now American Thunder and the shorting of the track, well like you said its lame. And lol Boomerang sounds like so much fun with that description -

I've always been stuck waiting in the Mr. Freeze Queue Houses. It's the one ride I've never walked onto in my years attending SFStL. I always go the first of the season like opening day, and usually around their Fright Fest; so seeing long lines is uncommon for many rides expect for Batman. I still have no idea why that ride is so popular and so many people are willing to wait for it. Maybe they can get rid of the antique cars up front by American Thunder, and move the antique cars to the back if they expand and use the woods that way they can do something useful with the moon cars Ha that is a good one, though does Boomerang turn and drop? I have not got to try it out yet -

True but we ain't saying that, what were saying is that IF they REMOVE the go carts, and RMC or something else happens over there like a new coaster, then we can expect a new queue line away from the tracks back by the old go carts -

Haha I never thought of that Ninja- Long queue line under the station which will never be full River King Mine- Another impossibly long queue which you have to weave by starting at the front and walking all the way back to get back to the front Thunder River- Again another impossibly long queue line that curves around the river into a station, and when you exit you leave onto a bridge and into another game arcade area ^Not as bad as those others but non the less Also Screaming Eagle with the old unused queue line in front and wondering why they opted to start the queue inside of a game area and block off the old one Mr Freeze I have never seen them use those queue houses and I've stated that I felt very uncomfortable on that bride over the go carts on the Boss, big people walking by and the whole thing is shaking and it doesn't help with the roar of the go carts below And agreed what the heck is with the queue line on batman? -

If they get rid of the go cart tracks, they can re due the queue over there like screaming eagle's queue and then there would just be a regular walkway over the train tracks, or use the old go cart walkway entrance to get into that section of park to get to the boss and the junior coaster (or whatever they decide to put there) Edit: Vonni got to it before I could, dang, but he is right also -

Same from my observation, the whole area needs something new, get rid or move the up charge attractions and expand over on that side like everybody is saying Just leave the enterprise flat alone -

^Bruises are one thing, think about all the neck and back problems/injuries this thing has caused Now granted like you said this thing has potential and is a wonderful looking coaster, but I agree it is just to much, I also felt it left me and probably many others exhausted. The last time I was there, with my now ex gf; she loved the ride and had me re-ride the Voyage 9 times in a row cause the park was empty as it was the opening weekend. Worst decision ever, now I have neck problems I fear from to much bracing; but my other conclusion is on that note that I might have actually hurt my neck on the revolution ride of theirs by the Liberty Launch. Anyway RMC, or who ever touches this coaster needs to smooth it out. Like others have said, the layout is perfectly fine and might be more fun with it smoothed out. Now I have rode on the Boss and Ninja (yes steel vs wood) many times at SFStL as they are my home town park, and so I know a little about rough as they can be on occasion. -
