  1. I can't find any options to turn it back on. Like you, I liked looking at wait times to see how busy the park was lol. Probably why they turned it off Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  2. This was reported a few days ago and I was hoping for a glitch but if it's still happening, I'd imagine it isn't. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  3. Not only confirmed on Reddit but Pete confirmed this two years ago and again this year. I'm honestly unaware of what's been going on with it this year. Since when has it been down? I thought they had gotten over major downtime. There's was someone on Reddit who toured the RMC factory and they said they got the launch working consistently and reliably already and that they were working with Dollywood on parts of the track. I'm assuming it was the bottom of the first drop because I remember hearing a lot of mention about a big pot hole there, but nothing was confirmed. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  4. The Harvest Festival and pretty much all of October was probably the busiest time for Dollywood last season. I would say more popular than Christmas and more popular than most summer weekend's. During the day, while school is in session, it's mostly older folks look for fall colors and listening to gospel music but when school lets out it gets very crowded, or did last year. It also depends on the weather but October is usually fairly mild, again, making it a very popular time. I visited several weekends and weekdays (evenings) last year in October and ride times backed up. During the day, not so much.. most stuff was a walk on. That's what makes Dollywood unique! You will see the park transform from older folks enjoying shows and leaves to a very young crowd enjoying night rides on coasters and luminights. I'd stay away on weekends or days when school is out!! It was so crowded last year, they added on to the pathways mainly for luminights and gospel festival, so mainly for this month! Also, for folks visiting over the next few weeks, keep in mind that area schools are out for fall break.. its a staggered break so not all counties are out at once but weekdays might be a little busy for the next week or two. Good time to visit the park though!! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  5. Possible but I have seen their app do this before and with fall hours starting today, very possible there is just a glitch.. It's also possible they are making you be in the park to see wait times.. last year their records crowds were during the first few weekends of the fall festival. Maybe they are afraid long wait times will keep folks away Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  6. Take this however you want but this post is from someone who toured RMC (might be a poster here, I'm not sure) and spoke with engineers working on LR However, I don't see any reason not to trust this post plus it lines up with Pete mentioning it's closed for track work It also mentions no ETA on the fix date For those that don't want to read the entire AMA, here are the bullet points. As proof, the guy has a photo of him laying on test track "Another engineer was working on Lightning Rod stuff. It's not actually currently down because of the launch! He said that they have that working pretty reliably now. A piece of track has to be reprofiled because of unintended forces present. The clamps for the magnetic fins on the bottom of the trains were also causing some issues (they work fine but don't last nearly long enough). The company who made the LSMs were very secretive about their design, so RMC has had trouble knowing exactly what forces are present, and there are a lot and they are powerful. At least you know that they share our pain of not knowing secrets He had one of the clamps in his office, which I got to look at and examine" Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  7. I want a dining plan also! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  8. This is kind of why Pete pitched the expansion as an all in one price. By the time you pay for a dinner show or two and a fun zone you are getting close to Dollywood prices of not higher, but some people probably view it that way. If we don't go to Dollywood we can do more in the area. Do more dinner shows and so on. That's why Disney wanted lock in Disney World, that way the money stays inside Disney. 9. Dollywoods season pass is $120. Three day ticket at Dollywood cost more than a SDC season pass. Now one day tickets are only $5 more.. I'm sure they are seeing success with everyone pays children's pricing and that's why they are considering this While they don't have the same quality rides the island is free and you can pay for what you ride or an unlimited ride pass for $40.. it has plenty of rides for younger folks making it much a less expensive option for families with young kids. A lot of time price trumps quality. There's a reason why the island ranked number 6 best "amusement park" on trip advisor this year and Dollywood wasn't on that list. The other parks on that list were all Disney, Universal, and Sea World parks. I know a lot of people on here disagree with review sites but they do give the best representation of public view. At least from the vocal public. Another example of prices potentially hurting them and other activities in the area is in the announcement of Wildwood Grove. Pete mentioned several times "everything is included in one price" trying to build value.. And saying families could save money coming to Dollywood. While this is very true if you plan on doing multiple fun centers in pigeon forge, I don't think many folks actually do that. One fun center is enough. Dollywood being hidden, families with young kids can stay on the strip and the kids wouldn't even know Dollywood was around and save money at one of the strip parks. I actually heard someone mention to their kids that one of the fun centers was Dollywood lol when I was in the chocolate monkey a week or so ago. Personally, I feel the value is there but as prices have been creeping up, I have questioned renewing passes several times. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  10. There's a lot in the area competing for money and a lot of the locals avoid Dollywood due to the price. Although, I think it's a great value, it's still a regional Park and one that doesn't offer nearly as good online offers as Six Flags or Cedar Fair parks. For example, three days at Dollywood (theme park only) is 99.95 (currently $86.95 with kids pricing) but I purchased three days at Cedar Point for $80 and that also included the water park.. so while not much of a price difference there are added perks. I could see Dollywood dropping their prices a little. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  11. It wasn't open the other day. Rumor said it would open last weekend, but I haven't been following it. I was at the park this week though and it was closed the day I was there Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  12. "The company is now working on the next five-year plan for Dollywood. “We’ve been happy with lodgings, so we will continue to expand that piece of the business. We will also continue to add new attractions to Dollywood.” That's directly from this interview I posted about a month ago from the president of HFE. https://blooloop.com/features/jane-cooper-herschend-family-entertainment/ It's very very possible that the new resort or something to do with their resorts, or possibly just dreammore is currently in the works. Phase 2 will be the end of this 5 year expansion (or the start of the 5 year, depending on how she is phrasing "currently working on") so the timing matches perfectly, again for phase 2 The new attractions could be phase 1 and lodging phase 2. At this point anything is possible, but, they haven't made anything announced or even hinted at about large rides.. they have hinted at a new resort, or at least something to do with their lodgings. Although, being local, I'd rather have rides vs hotels but hotels bring in guest, and an on site hotel, locks the guest in a little better than off-site. When I stay in an on-site hotel at Disney or even Breakers at Cedar Point, I never even have the thought of leaving the area for an evening. If I stay at an off-site hotel such as Breakers express or a chain hotel it's like 'where do you wanna go eat dinner' Dreammore is technically off-site.. the area is so small and your so close to other attractions, by the time you ride the tram back to the hotel, it's just as easy to hop in your car and go somewhere. On-site hotels such as Breakers and Disney, it's not that easy. Even the value resorts at Disney, itt sometimes easier to just go back to the park to eat vs driving into town Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  13. I wouldn't be surprised. Pete has already confirmed there would be a phase 2 that's twice the size of phase 1.. the entrance to phase 2 is possibly already on the map (the tunnel).. Phase 1 is supposed to be done next year and I could see them starting land clearing for phase 2 at that time to keep up excitement and construction on it late 2020. I can see a coaster taking up a lot of that land in phase 2 making it's usable size about the same as phase 1. What Pete hasn't confirmed is if the expansion is two parts and phase 2 will be an entirely different land or if Wildwood Grove is a two phase project. If Wildwood Grove is a two phase project I can see them going straight into phase 2 when 1 is complete. Phase 2 being much larger than phase one, clearly leaves plenty of room for a large coaster and possibly even a large dark ride. I'd personally find it hard to believe there wouldn't be a large ride as part of phase 2, simply due to the size difference. Unless phase 2 is an on site resort. 14. The rumor as to why Dollywood and SDC do what they do is because they buy the coasters or rides in pairs for a better deal.. again, just a rumor, but if that rumor is true, Dollywood possibly has the Mac ordered already and has had it ordered for a while, meaning a no compete agreement wouldn't affect Dollywood. This is all if we ever get one and none of this has ever been confirmed by anyone, it's just speculation as to why we get the rides we do shortly after SDC.. recent though, especially with coasters, they really haven't been following that path much except with LR Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  15. The speed bump is another one of those rumors that popped up in enthusiast groups. While yes, there is a bump and the bump is rough, and while Pete has mentioned they fixed the bump once, there has been nothing official to confirm that's the portion of the track they are working on. Last time they repair this part of the track, the ride wasn't down this long.. there's a large possibility that they are working on the ride elsewhere and that's why no pictures have shown up Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  16. And at Dollywood they keep a lot for the ride ops of that ride.. when LR was new they wouldn't let any of them know any of the issues early on. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  17. Some folks say ride ops have told them it's down the rest of the season but can't trust ride ops. No one in management or leadership at the park has said anything that I have seen Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  18. I think park maps are being used less and less. They are going digital on apps so less waste, I'm sure less expensive, and I notice fewer and fewer folks using them. I personally doubt they will put much resources into future maps at any park. They do make great collectables though It seems like more and more parks are simply using Google it Bing for their maps Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  19. You use the same pass from 2017 if you renewed online.. it should be active already so just go to the gate and you are good. No needy to stop at ticket windows Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  20. Kind of interesting way to offer season passes as a marketing tool https://www.dollywood.com/Deals/Special-Offers/2019-PreSale?cid=rdr_000086 No payment required at this time Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  21. Triple post, lame Tapatalk
  22. Doesn't mean they can build multiple resorts. I can see them building maybe a campground around dreammore at some point and a resort on property. I mean, I don't see 4 hotels being built! There are to many already in the area but I can see Dollywood putting their twist on a campground, and then maybe an on-site resort Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  23. Phase 2 being bigger than phase 1, I can easily see a hotel. And HFE president did mention they are looking into the next step for their lodging at Dollywood. It's going to be an exciting couple years! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk
  24. I think the best part of his interview is another confirmation that this is a multi-year project. The announcement is phase 1 and this also goes along with Jane Coopers statements in the blooloop interview. It also confirms the "Cave/Tunnel" on the map might lead to phase 2. Right now we are at what 5 - 6 acres? He said the entire expansion would be 14ish! So phase 2 will be 10 acres or so? Large coaster on those 10 acres?? New hotel?? A completely different themed land? The tunnel/cave is already on the map, I wonder when they will announce the rest? Leaving the tunnel/cave on the map, if that is actually the path to another part of the expansion, makes me believe they will announce more sooner rather than later. The new area already looks AMAZING but knowing it isn't stopping soon is a great sign and even more exciting.
