  1. You don't need a code.. you just go to the Dollywood promo site and it should work (at least it has in years past).. I just tested and got all the way to payment info without it requiring a code.. there is a place for a code, but that's for other discounts I believe.. https://www.dollywood.com/lpg/promo/McDonalds It's $10 off if purchased online and $5 off if you bring your McDonald's bag to the park.. they aren't very secretive about this promo anymore because you can just buy a $1.00 burger or soda and get the deal. You can find the link above just by googling McDonalds and Dollywood Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  2. I went to go see drumline live tonight and it's probably the best show Dollywoods had in a long time! Park was dead but they still had to give out tickets it was so popular.. they really got the crowd going and it's a very upbeat show! Only a few days left so go see it if your able and haven't been yet!! I'm sure it's a shortened version of their real shows/tour but drumline normally cost $50 - $75 to see. Also, it didn't seem like it was the entire cast/crew but was still very much worth it! Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  3. I think Splash Country had more people than Dollywood today! It's sad that on a weekend Dollywood can't fill lot C. Splash though was slammed! We used our bring a friend $30 coupon and brought my mother in law.. was there for about 5 hours, its pissed pouring right now and the lifeguards were out front giving rain checks so basically two tickets for $30! Pretty sweet Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  4. Got it! When I read in need of love I was like what's wrong with it! It's aged very well and has been updated several times already lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  5. The tunnel already flashes because of the camera.. I personally see nothing wrong with tornado and don't think it needs anything added.. the entire area is themed great for a tornado already and even during Christmas they make the lights in that area look so sloppy like a tornado had hit. I'm not sure what enclosing the lift hill would add, if anything, to the ride. What do you mean it needs a little love? They added new magnetic breaks a few years back, redid the trains some, and overall it's one of their best kept up rides. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  6. August was very slow for them last year from what I recall.. I had a lot of trips to Dollywood and Splash last Aug and there were days at Splash we parked right beside the gate and the park was nearly empty.. if the season is going well, they sometimes add extra days in August. This happened a few years ago so it's possible one or the other will end up opening those days in Aug From what I have heard from some of the tourism folks that work for the city, they seem to think that Dollywood is having a disappointing season again this year. Although, it seems busier on days I have visited, maybe it isn't. The area itself seems to be having a record season according to the same tourism folks. Keep in mind, Dollywood might not report official numbers to the city though Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  7. http://m.tmz.com/?viewer_country=US#!article/2018/06/22/dollywood-sued-family-serious-spine-injury-water-ride/ Take it as you will because originally posted by TMZ but it's showing up other places now. I know this same complaint and even a death from a similar ride has popped up originally so I wonder how much those complaints have fed into this one from Dollywood Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  8. Glad to hear they are running two trains more consistently on LR now! Hopefully it will keep the lines down Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah, Disney does a good job with conferences during their slow season (my work booked one).. Dollywood has been doing the same and it really helps build up the park. That area in general is full of conferences during the winter, that's why the weekends are still so busy.. Church conferences pretty much every weekend during the winter, plus other types of band conferences and what not.. usually the conference goers have the afternoon free (I have been to several personally) and they go out and enjoy attractions.. Dollywood would be fairly popular if their price was low enough I'd imagine. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  10. I have yet to see two trains run this year, as far as I remember, and have been on some fairly busy days.. I think maybe they attempted two trains early in the season.. I was there yesterday and it was down most of the morning (I arrived at 11 and left around 2). It's possible I missed it being open while I was there and i do know it opened at some point yesterday It's probably been 50% on most days this year.. there was about a week it was down but it is running most days, at least half the day Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  11. I think it might all have to do with how well luminights goes this year.. for example, October was one of their slowest months in the past.. I mean, some visits parking was barely out of b! Especially in early October.. but with luminights, it was possibly their busiest time of the year last year.. it proves, with a knockout festival, they can bring the guest.. if luminights does as well this year, they might start looking into a winter festival of sorts. With a lot of schools going year round, breaks are all different now.. Spring breaks are starting much earlier now, as early as March 1st. I don't see them open all week during the winter, but maybe Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The tourism's is still fairly busy on weekends during winter... I know a lot of folks love getting winter cabins. We have fairly mild Februarys in the area. January isn't any worse than late December. Coasters might be closed but if they still have activities and shows going on, the park will still draw a crowd. It may never happen, but I won't say it won't ever happen. The park president even said a couple years ago they would probably be able to draw a year round crowd because of the park being unique and it's show following.. it was just a comment but comments are a lot of times derived from discussions. Six Flags in GA keeps extending their season, even if it's weekends only. It's now longer than Dollywood by several weeks. There might be a 5 degree temp difference at times but their Winters are still very similar to ours. They can do it with mostly rides.. Dollywood has the festivals that can drive even more visitors. Leverage dreamore and offer steep discounts on tickets/rooms, and offer even "off season" ticket pricing for non dreamore guest. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  12. I see them in the future being year round, at least on weekends.. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  13. Exactly and this year the new improvements at Aunt Granny's are wonderful!! Food is back to it's original quality, if not better, price remained unchanged ($33ish for two with gold pass).. no more wait because of additional seating.. and my personal favorite, if you pay with a card, you aren't billed until you leave now meaning I can actually wait to give a tip if I don't have cash! I hated tipping up front before I ate if I didn't have cash lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  14. At Dollywood today.. been praising their ops recently but off to a bad start today. Over 20 mins so far in line for a tram. Might as well walk, the issue is they are running more short trams than long it looks like.. this is their inconsistency. If they don't have the drivers, at least run the long trams Edit: so we walked in from c and a total of 0 inbound trams passed aside from the one short one that picked up before we started walking but hey it's a pretty day. Tram line was probably 5 full trams long. Edit 2: gonna be headed out soon.. LR is down, firechaser is down.. lines are super long (not Dollywoods fault aside from the inbound tram lines, it's just busy today) My wife and I mainly came for lunch anyways so Aunt Granny's hit the spot Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  15. Hmm, I was there earlier this week and never noticed the pot hole.. it was a lot worse and they smoothed it out.. I guess bc it's not as bad as it used to be, I don't even notice it anymore haha. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  16. They will probably have their Christian Rock Festival sometime this summer but shows during summer have always been limited compared to the rest of the season. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  17. Plumbing is already between MM and blazing fury.. there are restaurants (plumbing is required for them), misters (meaning there is water) and other things that require water. Yes, they would have to built infrastructure up to the train loop, they are doing that for the new area as well but saying there is no plumbing between MM and blazing fury is so off base haha Oh and not to mention, the park themselves said they would be expanding towards the train loop before their 10 year project is up.. maybe not all the way up but towards. (They might consider this new area towards so who knows). The location of the new area will allow easier access on up the mountain. Anyways, I was at the park today. No lines, only 15 minute wait for LR.. MM had a fairly long line on my way out but overall nice day. Everything else was fairly empty, empty boats on Daredevil, empty trains on fury and so on. No new hoods or trunks on LR and only running one train on LR, but it was a full train. BBQ is great this year! I love their sauces and even had to buy some of the apple butter BBQ sauce to bring home.. For about $16 (after gold pass discount) got a refill in our bottle and the three meat sampler! Great ribs, great pulled pork, and awesome smoked sausage.. all fresh tasting and looked cooked locally! We only got one plate and still couldn't finish it! Plenty of food because it also had sides.. Funny side note.. have the lady in the BBQ sauce stand ring up the pig toy.. it comes up and says "squeaky pig ass" on the screen! I'm sure they will fix it, she said she just noticed it today when someone complained lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  18. Pete said during an interview they would be coming back at some point.. he made it sound like they would be back last season but never actually said that. He just mentioned they would be back Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  19. I was at Dollywood early this week, the day of the "flood" and was there until about 4 or 5 with no rain.. it was actually sunny most of the morning.. we could see the rain coming over the mountains.. rain hit, I'm not sure what time (about 7 where I live) and was very hard for an hour or so causing the floods.. Point is, still a great day for the most part. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  20. This time of year it's hard to "Dodge" storms.. the other day I was there with a 75% chance of rain.. it rained 30 mins and sun was out the rest of the day.. it's just our weather.. today is a 100% and so far it's only rained this morning at my home.. and was done by 11. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  21. Yup, it was there a week or so before splash opened.. at least part of it. You could see some of the "logs" while driving into Dollywood early this month. I'm also curious if it will come back under a new theme? Especially if the area has a drastically different theme than others in the park.. As for LR, my theory is they planned to change the hoods and stuff out but then had a series of downtime and issues that got in the way of the change Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  22. It was in the splash parking lot until about a week before they opened so yeah I'd assume it was just moved because they opened.. There is a very similar looking ride on the prints so who knows Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  23. Yeah for a water park it's very shaded.. also has a lot of free cover for those who want to lay beside the pool.. I have been to water parks that only have paid cover.. yeah splash country does have paid cover but the free is nice! Plenty of trees, and so on.. Pro Tip: if you plan to visit Dollywood and Splash Country remember the splash country bottles work for 99 cent refills at Dollywood!! But the plus side is the $15.99 splash bottle is free unlimited refills at splash country on day of visit and the $30 bottle is free unlimited at splash for the entire season.. both offer 99 cent refills at Dollywood.. just saying as those bottles are a slightly better deal for some if you plan to visit both parks! Might wanna swing by Splash Country first and get your bottle there.. Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  24. Splash country is hit and miss.. it can be busy and if it's busy I don't find it much fun but my wife and I always enjoy relaxing in the lazy river even it it is busy or beside the wave pool.. all slides were walkon yesterday though which was awesome! Schools aren't out yet here so it was mostly small kids and older families Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
  25. At splash country today! Good day, the parks nice and clean.. a lot of repainting was done during the off season.. they are closed for lighting now but their sense of humor is great.. all songs are about storms and rain!! Lol Sent from my MHA-L29 using Tapatalk
