No, it always has a lot of down time early during the season. Actually it has a lot of down time in general but not nearly as bad as LR Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

I don't believe that's the reason LR runs one train. It stacks like crazy so there really isn't any need to rush it out of the station to prevent tripping sensors. If sensors trip, I'm sure something else causes it But then again, I don't know anything about timing on coasters so I might be completely wrong lol Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

I don't think anyone can say for sure that's why they only run one train but it a good guess. They have only ran one train the majority of time it's been open since the coaster was built and Dollywood, in general, is good about running all trains on other coasters if able and the park is busy so there must be a reason why they don't on LR. As for going down, it only goes down to remove the second train if they are running both There have also been cases of the park attempting to run both and the ride going down shortly after both trains start running, only to open back up with just one Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

Running only one train on LR is the normal. Not sure why they do it but I'm sure it's to keep the ride open and reliable. Most of the season last year they only ran one train when it was open. It's also normal for Tornado to only be runny one train. Was thunderhead only running one? It normally only runs one if there is no line. Wild eagle almost always runs two even with no line. Firechasher normally never runs 1 but can run up to 3. It's odd to see it running 3 now but it normally runs at least 2. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

It's open for old people who just shop and watch shows And people like me who don't like visiting when all the kids are around. Dollywood is an interesting park and during the week when school starts it can be very very dead at the park.. I've seen it so dead that I'm surprised they don't do what six flags does and only open during the weekend when school is in session. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

One of the best restaurants is Aunt Grannies! All you can eat and good all you can eat! If you go during a festival though, you should also try some festival food. Not sure if they have announced many summer shows yet? Last year my favorite was drum line. Sure Dollywood has a few staple shows but their seasonal are better Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

I'd say zip lines were removed due to recertification. They have to be recertified every 10, 15 years or so (I forget). I just remember this from working at a camp and when recertification came up it was expensive due to parts having to be retired. Probably felt it wasn't worth it. Just my guess.. also with the new area being about exploration and stuff, they might move the zips there. Or it's also possible they will open a zip line off park, around dream more or something to grab everyone, even those without Dollywood Tickets. With Dolly's company buying up all the theaters on the area, it's clear she is trying to get money from those who don't come to Dollywood Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

Been close to 60 all weekend except in the mornings. Water rides open, so I doubt coldness had anything to do with it personally But as I said in my other post, it was closed all day today as far as I could tell. Oh and on another note, not sure if it has been posted but zip lines are gone, at least that's what my wife said. I didn't notice, but she told me on the way out they had been removed. But it is no longer on the website. I never look up haha! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

Was at the park today! Festival of Nations food is excellent and on par with Disney! Even had drinks (non alcoholic though but still great) It used to be great and then went down hill for a number of years. I was glad to see qty and quality back! It actually made me want to pick u the passport and try things from every Country they offered! Still have two countries to try before the festival is over. LR ran most of the day as far as I could tell, still only one train. Mystery Mine was down most of the day, and actually I never saw it open but they had OPs there like it was planned to open it had been open at one point The park was clean, full of improvements. They repaved the roads but not parking (still need to repave parking lot Dollywood!!!!). Put up some new fencing in various places.. Park OPs were great for opening weekend. Plenty of trams running, plenty of people at the food booths and so on. I know lines are a thing at parks but when only one person is running a food booth or booths are closed, creating long lines, I get frustrated because parks can help that. None of that at Dollywood this year so far so that's a great sign!! One question anyone know why they have a checkpoint before parking now? Maybe it was just for today but they had two people before the tolls splitting up cars between gold pass and paid. I felt this really really really slowed down parking. They only had two tolls open and then two folks telling everybody what lane to be in. This created two bottlenecks. First, three lanes had to merge into two for the precheck people and then only two booths open. Why not send the two precheck people to their own booths? Again, this might have just been something for today but it was really my only OPs complaint and I saw no reason for it, although I'm sure their is one in Dollywood's mind. If they are trying to give gold past people their own lane just open one up and say it's for gold pass only using signage.. yeah others will still use it from time to time, but much quicker than someone stopping traffic to split everyone up. Looks like Dollywood was slammed today. Local reports of them being out of parking? Can't confirm that or if they even opened splash parking up or not. They also extended hours today. One of the few times this year they have done that! Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

Yeah I agree. The new fronts were only on for a month or so unless those where only temporary and weren't working out. No need to refurbish those yet! I believe it's something more than that Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

My biggest concern is actually getting in the gate without your SDC pass, even if you get a ticket from the ticket window.. like I said, they mark the tickets as discounted and the gate will ask again for the SDC pass (or employee ID if you get a discount for work, or Ripley's pass, basically, whatever you use for the discount). I guess it prevents people from buying discounted tickets and reselling them. This is how it worked last year anyways with a friend who used a zoo pass for a discount. And then the year before with a friend who used his Denso ID (large employer in the area that gets discounts) I mean, I'm sure guest services will clear it up and tell them to let you through, especially if they sold you the ticket haha. Just something to keep in mind though Customer service is hit and miss at Dollywood with the employees but guest services is great so they should make it right And LR is very open, especially the front seat! Hahaha Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

Honestly, Dollywood is pretty old-school on reciprocal agreements, even within their own brands, and normally must see the actual card or ID. Like mentioned, if suggest calling One thing to mention about Dollywood and reciprocal agreements is that you normally need the card at time of ticket purchase and when entering the park at the gate. A lot of employers around here have these agreements and Dollywood needs to see your employee ID when entering and when buying the ticket (or paystub or whatever they need as proof) Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

I was there mid-week last week and the park was very dead. B lot, which is very small was full and c lot was only 5 - 10% full. It did pick up a little before dark and around dark, mostly locals looking at the lights. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

True! I haven't heard of it going down since the extended downtime all summer. Yeah same here. No idea why they took the front off unless they saw it was about to cause issues or something haha. I've been to the park a lot and it's ran pretty much everyday, after the extended downtime, with the front until now But hey! It's still running and that's the good news! This is what I tell people all the time around here but they never believe me.. it's true though!! And even if they do get aggressive, their first sign of aggressiveness is usually a "bluff charge"! (Bad name that some folks even consider isn't a true or accurate name for what's happening) Sort of like playing chicken with a bear haha. They say the black bear will stop 100% of the time if anyone is ever brave enough to stand still and see. Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

So it sounds like Dollywoods new coaster is customized a little. The new video calls it the "largest and fastest in it's family of rides". I don't really like that marketing for it but hey, we at least know it's bigger than all like it! But I guess technically it might not be faster than it's other clones if it's just the largest and fastest model! But hey with the art showing two trains that means it's probably larger than others Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

Hopefully those are better than the apple Sunday! Last year the apple Sunday was amazing! They used real Carmel but this year they just use ice cream liquid Carmel. The real carmel apple carmel was much much better last season.. I looked forward to the apple Sunday the most during my trip lol!!! As for the oiler, someone mentioned they were moved to the back of the train earlier this season. There is something on the back that looks like an oiler. Not sure though Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -

No trunks on the train and the new fronts are basically a painted flat shell. One funny thing I noticed, the ops and the TV before the ride are all still calling it The fastest wood coaster in the world! I guess maybe they can because Steel Vengeance doesn't use topper track? Honestly feels the same to me, there is still a slight bump at the bottom of the main drop but I haven't noticed the had pothole since season one. It was at it's worse then. During my two rides tonight there was one section that might have more supports now (wood is newer looking) but I could be wrong Sent from my ONEPLUS A6003 using Tapatalk -
