  1. I didn't even think about that! Wow!! I'll never forget the first Holiwood Nights, such a great time!
  2. When I interviewed Nick back in March, he said that about 80 percent of the ride was getting re-tracked. Some of the non re-tracked sections still appear a little rough to me, but that might just be me. Guess I'll find out Thursday!
  3. Awesome, thanks Robb. Just shared the link. If anyone wants to donate $25 or more to my page, I'll happily part with my Gatekeeper shoulder bag from media day if anyone is interested! Just PM me your information.
  4. Finished up the Iron Rattler video. Check it out! Packed full of on-ride, off-ride, and other goodies! https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=fjRdBN94864
  5. Just got off the phone with Nick. I'll be at the park Thursday filming. Will get full POV, reverse POV, 3D POV, rider cam, reverse rider cam, and off-ride. I'll try to get it up as soon as possible. I can't wait to ride this thing!
  6. Apparently Hades 360 will be opening and operating this weekend according to the Mount Olympus Facebook fanpage. I didn't even think this thing tested yet. Has anyone heard anything?
  7. Camera placement doesn't make a difference in the duration of a POV. I agree, the trees make the ride even more amazing, especially visually. Cresting the lift to reveal a fogged forest of trees is just awe inspiring. On a ride with a shorter time duration like Outlaw Run, a few seconds can make an insane difference in the ride. If you've ridden it already, especially around the time of media day, I highly recommend giving the ride a 2nd run during a hot summer day. It is COOKING! I've never been on a more fun/intense/visually appealing ride in my life! It is totally worth a revisit. If it wasn't my number one all time coaster already, hot summer rides sealed the deal.
  8. I was at SDC last week and rode Outlaw Run again. WOW is this thing flying! A couple months of break-in and the summer heat are really doing wonders for the ride. The park wanted us to film a POV now that the trees are filled in. For speed comparison, watch the old and new POVs we shot side-by-side. The new POV finishes seconds earlier than the old one. Check it out! New POV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEyaPCT6_GM Old POV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DZ_Fr0kjHQ The ride looks so nice with the trees grown in!
  9. Opening day is JUST AROUND THE CORNER for Indiana Beach! Rocky Mountain Construction is putting their final touches on Cornball Express, Lost Coaster, and Hoosier Hurricane. The rooftop lounge is looking great and should be ready for a memorial day opening. The newly relocated Falling Star may be a ways out from operating, but it should be ready to go during the summer. Here are some POV footage we shot of the re-tracked Lost Coaster and Steel Hawg! Lost Coaster of Superstition Mountain 2013 POV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmwbwdSSKys Steel Hawg 2013 POV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKu7zWTJsNU Enjoy! Last Monday we had a cookout with the RMC crew. They can not only build one hell of a coaster, but they can cook one hell of a meal! Hats off to RMC!
  10. Some other videos of Indiana Beach happenings: Hoosier Hurricane and Cornball Express trains being loaded onto the track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-H0DwMYZCb4 2013 Tig'rr POV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LkkcEA3Q5U I'll be at the park tomorrow, if anyone has any questions about the 2013 season please let me know and I'll try to get them answered. Enjoy!!
  11. Zippin Pippin, Bay Beach. That lil ride packs SERIOUS power! Cornball Express at Indiana Beach, too!
  12. Here's a video of them putting the trains back on Steel Hawg! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhpOUa6fLwk
  13. I was at the park last week Wednesday. The big midwest storm had passed about 30 miles north of the park so it was 81 degrees and sunny ALL DAY! Nobody was at the park either... like literally... nobody. There were times we would walk into the Outlaw Run station, completely empty, walk right into any row (front, back, didn't matter) and jump right on! Now's the time to go, if you can go during the week. Beautiful weather and no crowds. Hillary in the station with NOBODY THERE!: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=358942450893433&l=0e0c7ffe72
  14. 3:00pm opening day: Everything fails 3:15pm opening day: Rocky Mountain Construction receives a phone call Here is a bit I filmed, interviewing park owner Nick Laskaris with some cool construction footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m17hpLiQHd4
  15. Good idea, Robb! I have some old roller coaster memorabilia in storage. Maybe I'll give some stuff away in exchange for donations to my page. Anyone interested? Memorabilia may include old press kits, roller coaster parts, old park maps, etc. I'll see what I can find!
  16. The rides are looking great so far at Indiana Beach! I was there Monday checking out the progress. Trouble spots on Hoosier Hurricane and Lost Coaster are being smoothed out now, thanks to Rocky Mountain Construction. Cornball Express is completed and state certified. I threw a GoPro on Cornball to get a POV with some of the new re-tracking. Check out how smooth the first drop is, now! Also, you can see the Falling Star in it's new location where the swings used to be, and the swings are now back over the water. Here is the Cornball Express POV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f7bsQI7WGI The rooftop lounge is getting roof work done and the entire bar has been remodeled. The bar itself is HUGE now and very nice looking. There is lots of fresh paint throughout the park as well. They have crews working 7 days a week out there to have the park ready for the 2013 season! Lots of great things going on.
  17. I'm heading down to the beach tomorrow to film and check out some ride testing. It'll be interesting to see how Cornball Express is running with all the RMC retracking! I'll report on it when I get back. Stay tuned!
  18. Whenever it opens, this should be a pretty killer ride! Nearly 80% of the ride is being retracked this year outside of the corkscrew addition. There is also lots retracking on their other wooden coasters. Should be a good year for Mt. Olympus!
  19. For thrills: Acrophobia, SFoG There's nothing like watching the ground from between your legs in a standing position. So crazy, so intense. For experience: Tower of Terror, Disney's Hollywood Studios The storyline, theming, EVERYTHING! You become so deeply immersed in the experience, LOVE IT! I also love the unpredictability. Such a unique ride.
  20. I selected B&M. This is a huge toss up for me, but I like what I've been seeing from B&M lately. Their rides just seem to be more reliable/efficient while providing unique experiences. They may not be as innovative as Intamin, but their innovations work nearly flawlessly in comparison. From rIding X-Flight at Great America and experiencing the closest I've ever actually felt to flight on a roller coaster, to riding Diamondback in a rear end seat while soaring over hills with seemingly endless airtime, B&M creates perfection. Their seats and restraints are some of my favorite in the industry, providing comfort, space, and freedom. My number 1 steel coaster at one point was Superman: Ride of Steel at Six Flags New England, but it has since been neutered in my opinion. I still consider it a world contender, but it certainly is no longer my number 1 steel. Just my thoughts.
  21. Lots of great happenings at Indiana Beach this year! The swings have been relocated over the water (where they belong, IMO) and the Falling Star should be working later on in the year as well. As far as the coasters, all 3 woodies have been heavily retracked thanks to our friends at Rocky Mountain Construction. The splash battle ride may actually be operating this summer as well. Lots of little things are being fixed around the park, and the rooftop lounge is receiving a complete overhaul and will be brand new for this season! The park is investing a lot of money this year, making 2013 THE YEAR to check out Indiana Beach!
  22. Donated to Jason and Adam. Good luck guys, welcome aboard!
  23. Welcome aboard! You've been kickstarted. Good luck!!
  24. All the first gen S&S space shots were amazing. I absolutely love Big Shot in Vegas. The one that was at Wisconsin Dells originally (I think it's at Fun Spot in Orlando now) was really good as well. Not sure if it still is, though!
