  1. Where do people come up with these crazy ideas? Do they just make it up as they go and state it as fact? If anything as far as the name for RMC Hurler goes being related to an apple, (and I'm not saying it will be) it will be Apple Turnover.
  2. It's been a confirmed in-house project since the park opened for the season. Seriously.... can this rumor die already? Actually no, it hasn't confirmed to be in-house. The hints that RMC themselves dropped was clear as day pointing at Hurler. And it's not just KD fanboys saying this. Even Cedar Point fanboys acknowledged that it's happening to KD's Hurler. It only makes sense with Hurler being closed this long. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=28853&start=31800 https://m.facebook.com/IrvineOndreyEngineering/photos/a.475305665826794.115576.474347982589229/1200454699978550/?type=3&theater Here: . Confirms that the park is working on it. One problem: that was months ago. This thing from IOE was just yesterday. Unless they say otherwise, all signs point to Hurler getting external treatment. This is the saddest and most desperate attempt for hope that I have ever seen. I know its hard to tell yourself that KD is lower in the food chain now, but it's something you have to do. To be honest, CF is perfectly fine keeping your collection like it is a lot longer than you think. You'd be surprised at how conservative the new team is. You'll be LUCKY to get a new coaster by 2020. Do you really expect a park to tell you the truth with what they are doing to a ride one whole year in advance. Just cause she said "blah blah look away nothing to see here" Does not mean that is true. Could be it failed inspection and they didn't know what to do.
  3. I used my KD cup at Carowinds. It shouldn't matter. It's for all the Cedar Fair parks. If you go back, take it up with guest relations.
  4. I just got home from the park. Nothing new with Hurler. Not even flags or markers. Did 305 ever open yesterday? I was at the park from 10 to 4, and aside from a few test trains being sent early in the morning, there was no activity. Was contemplating sticking it out a bit longer, but it's a heck of a drive back to NY. I305 opened up around 5. That's some bad luck for you but hey, you have to drive back home at some point.
  5. I just got home from the park. Nothing new with Hurler. Not even flags or markers.
  6. So does that mean we can talk to Guy anyway we want to? J/k
  7. I would like to add that I just visited Carowinds for the first time this past weekend. I would consider myself a KD fanboy, but Afterburn is a better all around coaster than V:TBC. I just loved the batwing. Fury 325 is better than I305. Carowinds deserves all the attention they are getting from CF. I can't wait to see what else they have in store for Carowinds.
  8. So it will be like a remake of the movie " The Death of Ocean View Park". Sounds like a cool idea. I hope Lightning Rod goes down easier than The Rocket did in that movie.
  9. ^ That is true. Just look at the Huss Topple Tower for a great example.
  10. Hold on now. I was at I305 opening day during a camp out put on by KDFansite. If my memory serves me correctly, after I got two rides, the line was way passed FOF.
  11. To me that plan looks a lot like the plans for Disney's America. A theme park planned to be built in the 90's in Va. Too bad the locals had to cry about it so much, I could have had a Disney park up the road from me.
  12. I have changed my stance on log flumes. I now think we should support log flumes. Yes we should support log flumes so they don't fall down.
  13. For Sure: Kings Dominion Carowinds Maybe: Dollywood Busch Gardens Williamsburg Six Flags America
  14. I have said it before and I will say it again. Log Flumes are dangerous and need to be banded. Hopefully this will wake some stupid people up who thinks that Log Flumes are safe.
  15. Does anyone know anything about El Dorado? It has been listed for sale on italintl site for years. Now it's not. So here are the options we have. A: It was sold B: It was scrapped C: Going to another Cedar Fair park D: "New" ride in Shockwave's old spot Which one I guess we will find out later.
  16. The is one thing I hate about being a coaster enthusiast is that my hobby is overran by 12 year old little kids. This thread is getting too crazy can some mods do anything? Who cares when KD is getting a coaster? They don't need one. They need to tear some crappy ones down. Here's looking at you I305!?!?! It's such a tame kiddie coaster and my homepark needs and more importantly deserves a 400 foot aquatrax. But anyway, Has anyone heard are read whatever happened to the flat ride pickers that CF sent to Europe? Did the find anything? I thought they might find an enterprise for KD. There are a few listed for sale but they are TM models.
  17. I like to say that Hypersonic XLC (Thrust Air 2000) Was the worst I have ever seen for downtime. That's why it is defunct now but I thought it was fun.
  18. I doubt they get that much if they have an auction like GL did. We might see Time machine go for 1 million bucks. Such a shame the park didn't work out and as most here believe it will never work. They need to do something soon if they want any money for rides and restaurant equipment and so on.
  19. What does a silver comb have to do with a bat? Or maybe a comb over might be called a wing over for wing rider?
  20. Raptor I'd for sure consider old school and intense. As with Talon. They also asked for I305, no? As far as I know of I305, Intamin already had the compact giga designed. It didn't take much to sale CF on it as Busch Gardens has a no compete clause with B&M.
  21. 30,000 guest per day would have never happened, but I wonder how many guest would it take to atleast be profitable? If this park was to ever open again, it needs to be free parking/admission with a pay per ride ticket like a fair. It wouldn't hurt to have things no other park has either. This is where a small crowd could come in handy. Also, what are the chances this park ever opens again? If a church was going to buy the land without rides for 10 million, how much with the rides?
  22. It's an interesting look at the park, but when the story gets finished, you'll still never see the real reason that the park(s) failed. No offense, but there are 257 pages before this one that very thoroughly cover that discussion. The bottom line is this (which NONE of the experts, insiders, or creators of HRP will ever admit to, because if they did - it would mean that they had an initial catastrophic misjudgment): the per capita income of residents and tourists to the area simply could not sustain a large amusement park, especially with a $50 admission. Myrtle Beach residents and tourists couldn't sustain a park 1/5 the size (that was always busy), Myrtle Beach Pavillion. Nor could they sustain an outlet shopping mall which stood vacant for years on that very site HRP was built on. They barely sustain Family Kingdom, only 3 miles away. The three most important things in business are: 1. Location 2. Location 3. Location It was built in a very BAD location. You will find in the previous 257 pages many, many predictions, before the park even opened, of the park's demise. Once it opened, and a few people here had visited, those people said "get there while you can - it won't last". We knew this, but because we don't have financial backing, or certain corporate sponsors, we "don't know what we're talking about". Yet the park failed. Twice. By people that KNOW what they are doing. They will NEVER admit that it's a bad location. Never. Remember Opryland? Smaller park. Same fate. In the first segment of the article that I linked to, they talk about the feasibility study done for the park. The independent study found that Myrtle Beach got an estimated 14 million tourist and could support 3 major theme parks. That's more people than live in the city of New York.
  23. I have been looking up things on HRP for the past week. Came across an interesting article on HRP. I searched this forum and did not see it posted any where. If it is, you can delete this. A really good read that I like to see debated here. The article goes from the original concept to why the park failed. This will get you started. http://themeparkuniversity.com/backstage-access/hard-rock-park-1-the-birth-of-the-worlds-first-rock-n-roll-theme-park/
  24. I was watching Bill O'Reilly on fox tonight when they started talking about this death. One woman stated that we need federal regulations on these rides cause they are never inspected. She also stated SF will owe this family millions because they are clearly at fault. That does it. I have had all I can take. I'm going to find anyone that works in the media and smack them. Let me calm down and take a breath. On one good note at least the left and the right are agreeing on something even if it is on something as stupid as fed regulations . Getting fed regulations is a bad idea. Lets say they form something like The Amusement Safety Board. Then appoint a person that has never been to an amusement park or know anything about coaster engineering. In this persons mind no ride needs to go over 30mph, so they make that a law. Bye Bye to fun rides.
  25. So let me get this straight, because amusement parts are not federally regulated, they are not safe? Don't major amusement parks inspect their coaster tracks every day? Why would they do that if there were no regulations. Robb was the bright spot of the show. They just tried to spin this sad situation to fit their narrative.
