I don't know... "Cousin of Beast" just doesn't have that nice ring to it... -
I agree... Ryan, your signature has been stuck in my head all day... I was doing some more thinking about the rebuilding of the east side of the park... It would be great to see a small to medium-sized traditional woodie (either timber liners or Mini RMC) go into the adventure Seaport area. Imagine it leaving from that area and traveling along the lake, making a right-hand turn to follow the track of the river rapids high and then return... It could be a nice addition in that back area that both kids and adults could enjoy...

Knoebels Discussion Thread

Thank you everyone! Both Nick and I are runners, and tend to find ourselves quite good at cutting travel time between rides down quite far (the last time we went to SFGAsv in May on a Friday we hit GL, SUF, ET, RT (both sides), Bizzaro, and the mine train all before noon). Although I would love to spend more time at Knoebels, we have plans of spending more time at Hershey (which will be open until 10, on a Tuesday the week before HS finals). We definitely plan on taking out time at knoebels the next time we plan this trip! -

Hello local Knobel goers, My cousin and I have a trip planned for June 10-11 to hit Knoebles, Hershey, then head to Dorney to sleep and hit Dorney and Coney Island on the way home to LI. I know that Knobles has been voted best food (or close to it) in many polls... We plan on hitting the three woodies first thing, grab lunch at the park and head to Hershey for the remainder of the day. Here's where I need help where is your favorite place to eat lunch in the park? -
I don't believe so... It's interesting, the more we all line up what is/has been happening, I find it inevitable to see a large facelift to the west side of the park in the near future... We could see Nitro getting a touch up paint job, batman getting a new paint job (so it stops blending in, because that was a terrible move) a new coaster and a rebuild of the north section of the Ferris wheel. Let's keep praying to the amusement gods for their help!

I think a rebuild of everything from the entrance of the park to Dark Knight is a good move for the park, it really has fallen to close disrepair... I could see them building new paths, with a wooden worrior type ride next to the main entrance pathway out to the parking lot, and something bigger over by the dark night, themed to DC would te into a rebuild of that section... It's really sad to see how the park management has seemed to completely forget about the entire side of the park... Nothing has really been done to help pull guests to that side of the park... Then again, maybe this has all been planned for the past few years and a big change is about to come to the area... We should all keep our eyes open!

If we build up that area, where will I get my mid afternoon nap?!?! In regulars to the next coaster, sadly I think a wooden coaster near el toro is inevitable... Sad too, I think it doesn't hold a chance next to el toro, nor do I think a ride that would challenge el toro would be good either. Honestly, a nice sized family coaster, or a euro fighter would be a better thing to put there... Especially if it used the station of rolling thunder backwards, had a launch out the break run, jumped over to that enormous space wasted by putting in green lantern at the wrong angle... Then we could still use the rolling thunder land for expansion. I still would love to see them re open the fantasy forest area new the Ferris wheel and put a ground hugging Mid sized woodie that stretches next to the parking lot, turn around at the water tower and come back. It would be a great medium sized thrill, which the park is lacking greatly!

The fact that there are two boomerangs right next to each other seems odd... Until you start to think about how six flags knew they wanted to put new trains on Goliath... They probably knew there would be problems getting it into a solid state of performance and said "let's leave flashback up and running until we get this new toy working the way we want, then take it down." It's a decent piece for land, that they could definitely reuse for a future ride (maybe a euro fighter or el loco) in the future, but unlike the flat ride conversation, six flags still likes to boast about how many coasters are in a park, they don't care if there are two of the same idea, all they care about it "Six Flags New England, come check out our 11 world class coasters, including the #2 steel coaster in the world!" I think when Goliath gets going with the new trains, we will see them take down flashback, we can only hope it's replaced immediately with something else...

I'm not sure if its the prototype or the time period. All of your coasters listed were built back when B&M was building more forceful coasters. But once again, as I have said for many years, B&M is interested in making great coasters, not the tallest, not the fastest, just fun, re-ridable rides. This is the type of coaster 90% of parks are looking for. Even today, you can walk around SFGAdv and see that the line for Kingda Ka and El Toro never match that of Nitro, Superman, Batman and Bizzaro. The GP as a whole likes fun rides, not intense. A park does have to please us thrill seekers, but the majority of park goers are families, which include those that want "less than insane" coasters -
I don't think we will see them add hurricane harbor into the main park. It's just too far away and would end up taking away the extra income the ticket sales come from entering that park. Before you all jump on the "the safari was a ticket as well!" Band wagon, I think it's important to remember that attendance to the safari was falling since people were sick of their cars being walked on by baboons! Even if the park expands behind Kingda Ka (and I think it will) I don't see them connecting to HH...

Hello everyone Every summer my cousin and I go on a trip to celebrate the end of the spring semester. In the past we would do a day trip to SFGAdv, but since he is now out of college we have a few more dollars to spend and we plan on going a little bit bigger this year! We live on Long Island so a two day trip looks like our best bet... It looks like it would be Midweek June Our plan right now is to go Knobles in the morning, then drive to Hershey and spend the rest of day one there, drive to a hotel drink eat and sleep (preferably in that order) and then go to Dormey the next morning and Coney Island on the way home. Here's where I need advice, I need a hotel somewhere between the Hershey and Dorney leg of our trip. I was thinking of staying at the Comfort Suites across from the Dorney Parking Lot, possibly leaving the car there while we are at Dorney itself. Has anyone stayed here and what were your thoughts. I feel like it would be fun to wake up in the morning and see all the rides testing and such but I want to make sure it's a nice (enough) hotel first. Thanks for all your advise! This should be a fun trip of about 20 Coasters!

nope. but it is sunday.... Im sure we will see more tomorrow! -
I still stand by what I had said pages and pages ago. X-Flight cookie cutter in the place of B&R:TC. I can not see them build a wooden coaster on the Gotham side of the park, it just doesn't fit into the theme! The only other thing I could see would be a Maverick style ride going out to the parking lot, swinging around the water tower and coming back, but I feel like an X-Flight would attract more PR. In the case of the Rolling Thunder location, I am sure we will see something built there eventually (maybe 2 or 3 years down the road) but I find it hard to believe they would build a RMC. El Toro has so much pull in the park, that adding a Woodie that would be bigger badder and better just doesn't seem like something that would fly within the park administration itself... I could see a smaller wooden coaster (since now the only medium level coaster in the park is the mine train, they would want to put something in place to bridge the gap I would think) I think we will have to see how the area looks after construction of the pathway is complete... I think that will definitely lead us some clues on the parks ideas!
-
I don't think we will see an inclosed queue... I mean, they are going to want you to look up at the tower and see how massive it is while waiting online. What I could see is a safety wall being built, and then themed to look like an old ruin or something, covered in vines and plants... that way it has a safety purpose, but still allows for views of the tower and theming!

It might also be cool if they took the idea of the Stratosphere coaster and then put that on the side of the Polar Coaster, that way you could get an observation tower, the coaster that goes inside the Polar Coaster, and the Fish hook coaster off the side to have "the worlds largest drop on a roller coaster" all in one product. -

I definitely could see CP building a Polar Coaster. Now that the Observation tower is gone, a super tall coaster/observation tower would fit the park wonderfully. I would say it would make most sense to put it across from the Gemini Station. It would look great in the skyline far enough away from MF and TTD as well as letting the Ferris Wheel stand on its on for that area and give great views while pulling people to the back of the park!
