  1. I assumed it was "theming" LOL
  2. there's PLENTY of space up on top of that hill to put a Windseeker next to the drop tower.
  3. ^ not surprising at all. just took this out the back window - and the "real" cold (with Snow and temps in the teens) isn't supposed to hit until Sunday.
  4. ^ park map from ~2017 (so before the new stuff was added). . . NOT to scale, there's a LOT of space between attractions it's very spread out with a lot of space still to expand. (and it's less than 5 minute drive from the Horseshoe falls - you can see them from the drop tower, which makes that tower even more amazing)
  5. ^ I think it's a sign Hell has frozen over, and maybe the GOP Senators will vote to convict
  6. that 60% chance of snow is what's gonna do it. otherwise the Texas parks wouldn't care. . but yeah, I pinged Kim earlier today to see if she can push a week. . . hopefully can go the 21st instead.
  7. this weekend's forecast: yeah. . pretty much ALL the Texas parks are gonna shut down. I mean, there's still a *chance* it could change? but I doubt it. . . SFOT won't even open with those temps on Monday (Presidents Day, so the parks had planned to open), and Fiesta (if they do open) will close very early, with most rides not operating. oh well. . hopefully Kim can push her visit out a week!
  8. ^ you're pretty much seeing what it looks like for Halloween, Bill. . . LOL
  9. if they weren't doing Mardi Gras stuff. . (ie: food), and a chance to see Kim? I'd agree with you. but then again, we still have 6 days, and that's plenty of time for the weather to adjust. (the latest forecast I just saw showed 37 on Sunday with no rain). so cold, but not wet.
  10. not from the cold. but if windy? yeah. .will absolutely shut down rides that valley: Iron Rattler, Poltergeist. and most of the taller rides (which DOES include most of the other coasters too)
  11. ^ that is odd, in my times at the park, those two operate during the hour prior to rope drop. either staffing, or cost cutting, I'd guess. . .weird tho.
  12. it's been back open since Mid October. it was open during our Frightfest (or whatever they are calling it..the name isn't sticking in my head) we woulda rode it too, but it broke down while we were in line. . but it's been open since mid Oct.
  13. and that's exactly why I recommend SFFT on Sundays. . Texans LOVE their church. . . this park always seems to be dead on Sunday mornings, regardless if it gets crowded later in the day. glad you had such a quiet day! I'm hoping ours is just as goon next Sunday.
  14. ^ wait. .they didn't operate Goliath and Boomerang? that's a big change. . wonder if staffing issues?
  15. it's supposed to get much colder next week (in the low 50's). . so we might be looking at a chilly day. but I think that will keep folks away, so i don't mind
  16. ^ it was VERY windy today, but I don't think the park has been open during the week, so that can't be it. wonder if they are doing maintenance? I know for sure that Pandemonium is supposed to be open on the 14th (it's one of the rides listed for the Membership "Valentine's Night" party after park close).
  17. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous - especially with the amount of medical crap going on right now with my spouse - but I just booked a reservation to be at the park on Valentine's day (to meet up with TeacherKim and her son, who were so gracious to host us around SFStL a couple of years ago). I'm curious how the holiday will affect the crowd. . I'm thinking it will be either super packed, or super dead.
  18. that was an assumption made, when SF revealed it was planning on closing 15 rides. someone thought 15 parks - 15 rides, one at each park. I don't believe SF ever confirmed that was the case, it's very possible some parks lose several rides (ie: walling off a section) and other parks lose none
  19. yes.. the Parking lot and front gates will open 1 hour before park opens. the front section (Los Festivales) will be open - including Boomerang & Goliath coasters. The "Rope Drop" will be on either side of Boomerang paths: towards Poltergeist/Superman/WonderWoman & also towards Roadrunner/Iron Rattler/Daredevil Dive. All Day Dining will be at the season pass/membership center, and Flash Pass is next to Boomerang. BOTH can be done during the 1st hour before rope-drop (and you can use Flash Pass for Goliath right away too). You can also deal with photo pass, as that booth is also in the open section.
  20. Covid operations thows EVERYTHING into question. . but in 2019, we were there for Holiday in the park, and it was cold (in the low 40's) AND rainy. . and everything was running. So I'd expect zero impact, except maybe slightly longer lines, since the water rides (which drain lines from the "dry" rides), wont' have any queue lines - tho I suspect they would be operating anyways.
  21. ^ good point. . ZDT is an easy stop, especially if you're going to Schlitterbahn. . .
  22. on the boardwalk area (where Pirates of Deep Sea is located), it's mostly "carnival" type rides. . but their version of Sizzler (called Wave Runner) runs a fantastic program (it's right in front of Pirates too), and the Tilt a Whirl (called Spinsanity) is a next gen one, that spins like CRAZY. . don't let how innocent it looks fool you, if you like spinning, you'll get off this green.
  23. agreed with others.. .that was a lot of fun! my favorite was the audio clues section. . bopping along to Millennium Force station music and Monster Mansion! (tho you said you'd start out "easy". . so was waiting for Republica "ready to go". . LOL). thanks for putting this together. . was a blast!
