  1. ^^^That's the plan. It hasn't been officially decided yet since testing hasn't started, but given the fact that the timberliners have run successfully at two parks last year, it's very likely that the timberliners will be installed for this season.
  2. I'm really flipping excited about this. I've always loved the GA Cyclone for its crazy airtime (and laterals at a couple of points). I'm hoping that the topper track puts more speed in the course, since the jack-hammering and shuffling robbed that ride's speed quite a bit.
  3. I got my copy of Raw 6 Monday. It's another great addition to the series. Fantastic DVD, Robb!
  4. Keep in mind that all roller coaster trains, no matter the weight, accelerate at (relatively) the same rate under gravity. Yes, the trains are lighter, which equals less momentum overall, then you factor in air resistance, friction, track state etc. All affect the train's performance. From what I've seen in all the test videos so far, the timberliners look to be a little slower, but not by much. Re-tracking the majority of the ride should help a lot. Timberliners or not, re-tracking needs to happen anyway. My rides on the Voyage this season were the bone-jarring and very uncomfortable.
  5. Just asked on their facebook page if the timberliners are still in the works for next year. They said they haven't heard any recent updates. What's going on?
  6. ^Actually they're right next to the lift hill. Google maps tells me just over 83 feet from the structure.
  7. Wishful thinking here. I would like for the Thunder Alley go-carts to be taken out to make more room for a replacement of Son of Beast. The oval track is pointless IMO. I'm excited to see what my faux home park will be getting next year! 1 hour and 40 mins!
  8. Just a random note. Has anyone else noticed how similar the layout is to Georgia Scorcher's?
  9. Last year when I went to Dorney. Hydra was #100!!
  10. So Cedar Point is getting a Dinosaurs Alive attraction. Understandable, since Kings Island's is apparently making a ton of money. My only question now is are they going to make it a traveling exhibit and transport Kings Island's to Cedar Point, or build a brand new/permanent exhibit? EDIT: Don't go anywhere near the facebook page if you don't want to see complaining. They're having a mini online protest over there.
  11. This thing looks really good!! Just the fact that the high-speed low-to-the-ground turns were added in should add a good sense of dynamic pacing to the ride (something Behemoth lacks IMO with its hil-after-hill formula).
  12. A B&M giga in the works, huh? I'm about dumbstruck! This will be VERY fun to watch unfold! B&M has had to build unique support structures in the past (Alpengeist). I'm interested in seeing if they take that route or stick to their normal support system.
  13. That was a rather entertaining post. Interestingly enough, Screamscape posted the same 2-coaster rumor. None of us will really know until an announcement rolls around. Cedar Point expanding the peninsula? One word: ridiculous.
  14. ^Yeah this will probably be the best option since so much money has been put in to try to fix the ride already. I can picture it now. The structure being demolished with all the Kings Island and Cedar Fair staff plus enthusiasts all havin' a party down below shouting "THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE BEAST!!!!!"
  15. ^This is true, but it also says TGG would modify the layout. With their thorough knowledge of what makes a woodie great, they could do a whole lot with the structure and turn the ride into something much better.
  16. From www.screamscape.com Now THIS would be a great option in my opinion!
  17. Yeah. Originally there were three rows of seats, and now there are only two.
  18. That is true. The ride was closed more often then open back then. I was there a few weeks ago and I noticed that the entire front row was taken off the ride (to make it lighter I assume). Oh, nostalgia.
  19. There's a part of me that wants Mr. Ouimet to consider renovating the Crypt. As Tomb Raider, it was a great and very memorable ride. I wonder if Mark, with his Disney experience, could pull a team of creative designers together to create a whole new story for the ride and the ride itself can be restored back to its original program. Sounds great on the surface, but I know the plausibility of this idea is very slim.
  20. ^If you're unfamiliar with the layout, watch the pov and study it a little. The next time you ride, anticipate the turns and lean in. Simple as that. I remember my first ride. I got neck chopped on the turn out of the launch because I wasn't expecting it right away. The key difference is simply knowing that the transitions are coming. You're body should (in theory) naturally lean in to each one.
  21. I sure do wish KI would remove the trims on Racer's turnaround(s). They are pretty much unnecessary as all the other John Allen woodies at Cedar Fair parks don't have trims. Anyone know why Racer has them?
  22. ^See I always new about the rattle at the bottom of the hammerhead (the worst one). Up until this summer I would always just block out the bad details like that and glorify the good parts. That goes for all the coasters I've ridden. Shame on me.
  23. Well I could be just now realizing that Diamondback has always had at least a small rattle at the bottom of every drop, in which, you can call me a former ignorant fanboy.
