  1. ^ Cool. When I went last week, they let the Discover holders in about 15 minutes earlier than everyone else.
  2. Just got a Discover card for the sole purpose of using it at Six Flags. Kinda feel like a sucker, but what the heck. Maybe it will allow me to ride X2 two times before everyone else runs to the ride.
  3. Anyone here ever go to the MM private party for Discover card members? If so, how were the ride lines?
  4. I just bought one last week. It is now $15 per ride of X2 if you buy the flash pass. In other words, if you want to ride X2 twice, you will pay $30 extra. You only need a flashpass if you go on a busy day. On what day will you be visiting?
  5. ^ Good to know. I will never buy flash passes in advance again. I will always wait to see how long the ride lines are first. Thanks.
  6. I wonder if flash passes ever sell out. I went on April 20th, and when I went into the flash pass office at 2pm, they were selling a flash pass to a family who was still thinking about getting one.
  7. Okay, that makes sense. But why can't they run 2 trains in one station as a minimum? If they have enough staff to run 1 train, the same staff can run 2 trains, can't they?
  8. As we all know, Tatsu has a left station and right station. Why does Tatsu often run only one train per station instead of 2 trains per station? Is it because they don't want trains that just rode the track to sit behind the station for 5 minutes, because riders would be uncomfortable staring at the floor for 5 minutes while the other trains loads?
  9. Magic Mountain VIP passes are now $300, so which is even better for you. Cedar Point VIP passes are $350 and do not include food or drinks.
  10. Anyone know quickly the flash passes sell out at the park? (not online)
  11. Price depends on how many people you bring with you. But it's around $60 per person. May 5th is a school day, so it is possible you will not need a flash pass, but there are no guarantees.
  12. Just got home after my first day with a gold pass. It was amazing. I am spoiled now. I will never accept waiting 2 hours for a ride anymore. Next goal is a VIP pass at Cedar Point. Anyone here ever get a VIP pass at Magic Mountain?
  13. Thanks Fanboy! I am at Valencia Best Western right now watching the rides across the highway. Can't wait to use a gold flashpass for the first time ever tomorrow! Woohoo!
  14. So I just bought a gold flash pass online for Wednesday. The printout's fine print states that it must be used during 2009. Comforting.
  15. I agree with you, but personally, I would enjoy it more just to ride it once and then come back later. I wasn't bashing people who get the platinum.
  16. If you are going Sunday June 5th, the flash pass is very likely to be worth it. Personally, I am choosing Gold over Platinum because riding rides twice in a row really angers other people waiting on line. Go to yelp.com and read the reviews for Six Flags Magic Mountain. They are very informative.
  17. It probably does take a lot of time. Walk to your car. Drive to restaurant. Eat. Drive back. Look for a parking spot. Walk back to the entrance. Just have one person get food for everyone else.
  18. If you have 5 people, and you want to save money, just have ONE of you get the food and bring it back. The one person can walk to your car, transfer your food from your cooler to a disposable bag, and bring it to the park entrance for everyone to eat there. Or the one person can make a fast food run and bring it to the main gate. An ideal person to get the food would be someone who is too wimpy to go on some of the rides. Or call Valencia restaurants to see which ones are willing to deliver to the Magic Mountain main gate. The more people you have, the more sense it makes to get your food outside the park. They seem to sell out online one or two days ahead of time, but I am guessing you can buy one at the park if you buy one as soon as the park opens. I am guessing they limit the number of flashpasses online. I would buy one 3 days before your visit after checking the weather forecast. June 20th is during school summer break, so I am guessing the crowds will be pretty bad. Correct. You only need one flashpass device for 5 people.
  19. I was just messing with you, dude. And I didn't know Panda Express was only $10. Besides, I could stand to lose a few pounds off my 41 year old belly. In fact, when I visit Vegas, I eat one buffet a day and nothing else all day. Maybe I will just pig out before MM and then stop eating. I don't get sick on coasters. Now if only I could figure out how to ride Revolution without hitting my head.
  20. Oh but what if I RUN to Wendy's? lol. Another way to look at money is this. People who refuse to buy a flashpass have decided to spend most of their day waiting on line. Let's say the park is open for 10 hours. You are waiting on line maybe 9 hours. How much is your time worth to you? If your job pays you $30 an hour, that means that 9 hours is worth $270 to you. That makes a gold flash pass a bargain because you spend much less time on line. So, if I waste an hour at Wendy's, I still get 8 hours of fun for the price of admission and flash pass. Not bad at all. Especially compared to Disney. I still plan to smuggle in some peanut M&M's into the park. Muh ha ha ha!
  21. I have been using Google Maps, and depending on where you are parked inside Magic Mountain, it is the same distance to walk to Wendy's as it is to walk to your car.
  22. I have been looking at buying flash passes online, and they appear to sell out the day before you need them. I would buy at least 2 days prior if the weather forecast is good. Don't buy too soon since you don't yet know the forecast. Since you are a party of 5, if you have the money, you could do the VIP tour, which includes an all-day escort and unlimited food. It costs $300 per person.
