Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrSum1_55 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^An amusment park of which you can only get in if you purchase tickets from TPR, and the inverted coaster gets the fog and light treatment every night. Now that would be awesome. -
^Which brings me to my question of how quickly Flashpasses do sell out. I am planning on going to the park on 4th of July weekend (likely a packed day). I am planning on making a beeline for X2, then backtracking to get a Gold Flashpass. (I am trying to avoid the additional fee) I am sure they must not sell out THAT quickly (never bought one before), but I would just like to make sure for a crowded day... Edit: I just found out GL now ONLY supports Platinum FP's, so I might so for that, not that that really matters for the question.

^^ CGA pretty much has one of the worst records of any park for opening rides with the park. Usually some of the larger thrills are open with the park such as Flight Deck, Vortex, most of the flats, and Demon. However, I wouldn't count on Grizzly or Psyco Mouse being open with the park. However, my one visit was on a summer Saturday. The longest waits of the day were thirty minutes for Grizzly and Flight Deck at their peak times. I manages five rides on Flight Deck in one day, even after riding nearly every other coaster twice. I can't imagine a tuesday being any worse.

^Tatsu does run both stations occationly on crowded days, yet they rarely ever run all three trains; it usually goes one train to each loading station. This makes the overall capacity slightly better than the usual two-train-one-station, but not by much. I wonder if part of the purpose of the off-season rehab was to get three trains running on Tatsu later in the summer.

SoCalCoasters Visits Orlando
MrSum1_55 replied to SoCalCoasters's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I screwed that one up. I rode the front of FIRE and the back of ICE. Now I need to go all the way back to Florida so I can do it right! -
If head-on collisions are so bad, why don't they simply replace their older bumper cars with more modern, air disc bumper cars. Those can handle head-ons without any problems! For those of you who haven't seen one of these, they are somewhat like the flying saucers in RCT. Instead of spending thousands on an island that might not work, why not just tear out the current bumper cars for newer ones? It will avoid lawsuits for sure.

It's an easy problem to solve. Just place a "No Bumping" sign on one of the walls! What else have people sued for at amusment parks? SFOG-Family of decapitated kid sued because their own kid thought it would be a good idea to stand below a B&M invert. (I believe they also tried to blame B&M, saying the ride should have been "more elevated") Meh, there is no point in making a list! All the incidents are the same! Someone had a stroke on a ride, someone got "food poisoning" etc, etc. Wasn't there even one complaint that teacup rides spun "too fast" (a ride of which you can control the speed of your spin)

And I couldn't care less if they got a starflyer. Sans the lower cost and portability, I can see no reason why any park would take a starflyer over a drop tower. The GP and enthusiasts alike would totally eat up a 350ft+ drop tower. On my last visit to SFDK, V2 and Kong's wait was between 45 and 90 minutes all day, Medusa between 60 and 120 minutes, with Sky Screamer's wait at a measly 30-45 minutes. In addition, the most litered item I saw all day was Sky Screamer Fequent Flyer Cards. (Apparently no one had any desire to ride again) Drop towers have better capacity and they are more hair-raising rides. (Actually, your post kind of just proves why SFMM SHOULD get a drop tower. If you are freaked out by them, imagine how many people it would scare!)

Best Ride at WDW
MrSum1_55 replied to coastermaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Seriously, why did Disney only build ONE Matterhorn? That is my all-time favorite Disney ride, especially on the Tomorrowland side. (Although, I don't usually ride more than once per day, due to low capacity) I do believe that there was a Matterhorn planned for a Switzerland pavilion of Epcot. However, this plan did die a somewhat quiet death (for reasons of which I am not sure of at the moment) Although, I have heard people call Everest a "Matterhorn of the 21st Century" TT= A really kickass dark ride that is poorly marketed as a thrill ride of which it is not the least bit thrilling, (except for the barrier test; that gets me every time!) -
Best Ride at WDW
MrSum1_55 replied to coastermaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
TOT. I wonder if Intamin and Alton Towers got the idea for Thirteen from this; the former is a drop tower that converts to a tracked ride and the latter is a tracked ride that converts to a drop tower. Anyway, that sure is one unique drop tower, though. My second place vote goes to EE, and you should have plenty to time to get in rides on it if you stay at AK past 4 PM. (Pretty much everything there that is animal related shuts down after 4 pm-and there sure is a crap load of animal attractions at Animal Kingdom!) -
For the park, this could either be bad or good. Some statistics show that, after amusment park accidents, attendance generally goes UP! However, it is true the inverse could always happen. Really, only good can come out of this. Good attendance can be good for the park. Bad attendance means shorter lines for the ride. Maybe attendace will be so horrible they will have to replace this with an Intamin woodie! Okay, that last one, while my favorite, is probably extremely unlikely to happen. As for this incident, my chips are in that this guy probably had some medical problem prior to riding. How is that possible for a normal person to receieve a hand injury on any B&M flyer? All scenery is checked many times to ensure it is out of reach, and upper arm movement is minimal with the restraints.

Amusement Park Commercials
MrSum1_55 replied to alpengeistfan1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is a Cedar Point commercial, with Silver Bullet and GhostRider snuck into it. If you watch this in YT, you will see that comments have been disabled. It wasn't always like this. Over a year ago, I made a comment asking why Talon was in a Cedar Point commercial. I found out shortly after that I was wrong, and the coaster was actually Silver Bullet. However, my comment still got the most thumbs up. I asserted many times that I was wrong, and most people were understanding. However, I saw people insisting Silver Bullet was Raptor, Iron Dragon, etc. This began an argument, which is probably why the comments have been disabled. -
^^I am going to try to give some exact predictions. X2: 2 Hours in the morning, should die down to 1 hour by 4pm Tatsu: 30 min at the beginning and end of the day, 1 hour in the middle Apoc: 30 min in the morning, 1-1.5 hour in the afternoon (with 1 train) Deja Vu: 30 min in the morning and night, 1-1.5 hour in the afternoon Riddlers: (I always go single rider on this, so I can't really give you an accurate guess) Scream: 20 min tops Goliath: 30 min tops Does this answer your question?
