There has long been a debate over whether Scream is smooth or rough. As of December 2009, I knew the answer. It all depends on where you sit. On my first visit, I sat in the back. I thought it was really awesome, smooth, and an overlooked ride. However, on my 2009 visit, I rode in the front. It was absloutly horrible! I would say it was comparable to an SLC, and a whole lot worse than Mantis (which I had just ridden 5 months earlier, and actually wasn't too bad!). However, whenever I have returned, I have always ridden in the back, and gotten a glass-smooth ride. Besides, the ride is not really that intense, with the exception of the helix off the MCBR. Scream's cousin to the North does not have a much more intersting layout, but is a whole lot more smooth. Even though Medusa is starting to develop a bit of rattle in certain parts, being next to an SLC and having ridden Sream completely negate the almost unnoticalbe rattle. Although, I have heard that KD's Dominator also has the "Scream" curse (ultra rough in the front, ultra smooth in the back). Is this true? I will be riding it next month, and the front is usually my favorite seat on a floorless.

While a compact B&M floorless makes sense, my chips are on a Zac Spin. Insane only cost $7 million, wheras Daemonen, the world's smallest floorless, cost around $12 million. A Zac Spin is like nothing in the area, and would fit much more comfortably in that area than anything else. Plus, the Maximum capacity of a Zac Spin is 800 riders per hour, while that of Daemonen train B&M floorless is 1200 riders per hour, so a Zac Spin would better fit SFA. Cheap, unique, low capacity, and something new. Perfect for SFA.

So, the FP is not worth it? Well, on my last visit, the queues were full for nearly every ride, even Viper. However, I managed the entire day with very little waiting. The highlight of the day was using my Gold FP to ride Batman twice in a row within minutes, in the back, then the front, while the queue was full. And if Six Flags' FP's are "breaking rules," aren't Fastpasses as well? Flashpasses are just electronic Flashpasses that don't give you extremely long wait times, but you have to pay for them. One thing that would really be awesome that I would love to see parks do is combine Disney's Free Fastpass system with SF's Q-bots. If you want to, you can use the paper ticket system, but you should also be able to buy a Q-bot if you are willing to fork up some extra cash.

Get to the park early and run to X2! No exceptions, except for maybe GL, or if you don't mind spending an extra $15 to add to a Gold FP. Even on lightly croweded days, you should still to this. (I was at the park when Tatsu had about a 2 train wait, while X2 had a 30 minute wait!) However, I got lucky then. You really have to be there right when it opens. A 2 hour wait is nothing out of the ordinary, even on moderatly crowded days. Once, just a week after the ride opened, I came to the park to see the line all the back to Panda Express! (A >3 hour wait). Heed this warning; even if you have to blow an air horn into your friends' ears just to wake them up early.

Since I am having problems with capturing images in RCT2, I will just post some ride stats (these are not the exact stats, just the general ones off the top of my head) Black Knight: (B&M Hyper) Excitment: 10.10 (Extreme) The Torment: (GCI Wood Twister) Excitment: 9.15 (Very High) Rebellion: (B&M Floorless) Excitment: 9.00 (Very High) King's Gold Deposit: (Mine Train) Excitment: 7.00 (High) (This one was kind of rushed, so the rating was lower than I had hoped) Water Chute (Water Coaster) Excitment: 3.50 (Meduim) (This is more of a flume ride than a coaster) Little Torment: (Kiddie Wood Coaster) Excitment: 1.50 (Low)

Roller Coaster Withdrawal Symptoms

There is a website for people like that. It's called "Theme Park Review." -
It is difficult to find a crowded day at SFDK. However, if you do manage to come on one, look out. On my first visit in 2008, the lines themselves were not too long, but every coaster (expect Big Spin) was running one train, making the waits for Medusa and Kong over an hour. (Medusa did get a second train later, though) My second visit was on Fright Fest. When I first arrived, it was like I had the whole park to myself. However, as night drew near, people started pouring into the park. Roar and Kong both ran one train all day, even with 90 minute waits. On my next visit, the park was empty. All rides that could run two trains were running two trains, though. (They still stacked them horribly) Finally, the last visit I had was the worst yet. I spent 5.5 hours in the park, only to go on five rides. The place was packed. The queues for several rides were full, like on Medusa (120 minute wait) V2 (90 minute wait) Kong (90 minute wait) Surprisingly, Roar only had a 20 minute wait, while Sky Screamer had a 45 minute wait. (Probably because this ride is pretty boring). All crews were masters at stacking, and the Medusa crew was one of the few crews I have ever seen that could stack three trains on every single cycle. This place is somewhat like Fuji Q, where you can really have a good day when you come when crowds are light, but don't even think about going when it is crowded.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
MrSum1_55 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You must only go to terrible parks. Have you seen coasterforce's POV of Diamondback? (Can't link it be cause it might be illegal). Clearly, three trains were running. Sounds good, right? Well, once the train in the pov came to the block brake, it was a LONG wait on the block just to move up to the block before the station, so esentially they were consistantly managing to stack all three trains. Typically, if you do that, it does no improve capacity whatsoever over running two trains; although people think it does. On my last visit to SFDK, the queue was full, and dispatches were about four minutes apice, meaning the two trains were consistantly stacked. After I had waited about an hour, they announced that they would be adding a third train. (At 3:00 in the afternoon. Really?). However, during the next hour I waited, the dispatches were the same; four minutes to a train. Every time a train would leave, anouther would be there to take its place. This results in absolutly no improvement over running two trains. Daimondback may run three trains occationally, but as long as the dispatch interval is longer than the ride, it does not matter if the ride can run 3, 4, 5, 6, or 20 trains. The number of people on the actual ride will be higher, but the actual turnover rate will not change one bit over two trains. -

But that gives the park the incentive to run the rides at lower capacity in an attempt to make the paid line jumping system seem more effective. One thing I'll never forgive six flags for doing with regards to their line jumping system is that during my last year as anSFA passholder the park went so far as to reserve one entire train on S:ROS for flashpassers only & if nobody showed up they would send that train out empty & this annoyed the crap out of those who were waiting in the station & had been waiting long enough to get on the ride. Does SFA do everything wrong? at SFMM, pretty much every Flashpass ride cuts into the regular line at one point, like Disney's Fastpass system. The only exceptions (at least on coasters) were Ninja and Goldrusher, of which you simply went up to the station to take your seat. Even so, the ride ops did not go to measures as to reserve an entire train. SFDK, on the other hand, does that on pretty much every ride, yet they do not reserve an entire train either. However, recently I was waiting for the back of Scream at SFMM, when a handicapped kid came up. As it turned out, he wasn't tall enough, so all of the back seats went out empty. They let no one on since the train was already ready for dispatch. At least they were able to send it out without stacking (Medusa crew, are you reading this?) For KI's new big attraction, ill just throw out a B&M floorless or invert, since they just got a hyper. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrSum1_55 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That probably because there both inverted, I hear people say that Kong at SFDK is the same as Flight Deck at CGA all the time. Probably even worse, I was at SFMM talking to a staff member in the Batman queue, and she asked what I thought of Green Lantern, because everyone says it to be the "lamer version of X2." Ok, they got far enought to recognize they are in name the same type of coaster, but, besides that, there are no similarities at all between them. -

^Wow. And to think politicians are supposed to be LEADERS of the crowd, not some giant idiots who are just LEADERS so they can be attention seeking...[cencored]. Ok, ok. Not all politicians are like that. (Although it does seem that a good amount are). This guy really needs to look at some stats here. Even if his own were correct, he is still wasting his time. If he were to drive his car to an amusment park tomorrow, he would be more likely to have an unjury on the car than any ride at the park. So, why isn't he pushing for federal regulation to ban cars? That makes a bit more sense than this worthless crap. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?

While these are not coasters, nothing scares me more than the first drop of one of these. (Especially backwards) -
Don't post that pic here. You're going to make CGA install the fluffy bunnies that charge you to store your stuff while you ride like they have at some other parks coughSixFlagscough Actually, if it was in his pocket, the park cannot really do anything about it. It's not like they have to check your pockets on every ride, and, as long as it is in your pocket, it is considered "secure." Besides, ride ops at SFMM seem totally okay on most rides about leaving small loose atricles in the station; a good portion of the rides there do have small cubbies. I wish I could say the same about SFDK. In fact, on one visit I was the only one in my group who did not bring a backpack and never got a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo. I just brought my jacket with a lot of pockets. (It was a very cold day, that became hot later on, requiring extra clothing, sunscreen, etc...all in my jacket!)

I always try to appreciate every ride on Ninja now, because I fear it will not remain much longer. It seems Arrow suspendeds are being picked off one by one. Flight Deck at KI will proabably be next, to be followed by Ninja and Draggin' Iron. However, FD at CW is probably the savest American Arrow suspended, being one of the star attractions. Just my theory. I can totally see Ninja's removal in the near future.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
MrSum1_55 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I saw that to and was like "what the hell?" I mean cars are more dangerous if I'm not mistaken. Depending on the source, you could be over 3,000 times more likely to die in a car crash than on a roller coaster. It is also generally agreed that if coasters were used in travel, they would become the safest form of transportation, overtaking airplanes. If coasters are unsafe, cars are unsafe, all forms of transportation are unsafe, and the sun is unsafe. In fact, people are unsafe, because you are more likely to be murdered than killed on a coaster. So, anyone who thinks coasters are unsafe has never climbed in a bathtub, used any form of transportation, refuses to get in cars, and has never been exposed to the sun for the risk of skin cancer. They have never eaten any unhealthy foods for risk of heart disease. -
At WCB, I remember that there was this one kid around the right side of the theater who essentially suggested to make Goldrusher a Dark ride, with fire and such. It is unlikely though that an existing ride will be converted to a dark ride. If this were to happen, Log Jammer would be the most likely candidate, although the park is seriously in need of a dark ride now. Something new for DC Universe would work well. And, please SFMM, if you want to do a family ride around this time around, market it! (They did not air one single commercial that gave the slightest reference to RRE, although most of the people I know in SoCal say they have seen or heard at least one GL commercial!)
