Walt Disney World Epcot Discussion Thread
LA Dan replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Eh for me ... this all - and even Test Track vers. 1.0, lacks the heart and spirit of all the original EPCOT Center attractions. This one will get old after 2-3 rides just like the last version. -

What???? No pictures from the Bugs Bunny water ride - and with Dan there? That's criminal. I am sure Kidtums would have loved it. -
This is true. In fact, I myself hounded him for a look, and I was not disappointed in the slightest with what I saw. I'd like to see it.

Why does he need to be on Facebook??? I have an account there which I rarely use ... but I also have a real life that doesn't exist solely on the computer screen. Hope he does too!

WOW ... where did it all go? I was there just this past Sunday - 9/12/10, and none of the HHN stuff was out there - just the Skelleton Towers near Shrek 4D - and they were covered with black drapes. -

How did McDonald's come up with the cultural icon known as the Golden Arches? With a little imagination, you could easily see the logo as a couple of flexible french fries placed next to one another. After all, the McDonald's mascot at the time did have a hamburger for a head, so the restaurant clearly wasn't averse to incorporating food into its designs. In reality, however, the inspiration for the Golden Arches stemmed from architecture rather than food. After the initial success of the first McDonald's restaurant, founders Dick and Mac McDonald looked to franchise their operation. Working with architect Stanley Meston, the brothers designed a red-and-white-themed, walk-up restaurant with a distinctive slanted roof. Dick found the design a little plain and proposed adding two giant yellow arches, running from the front to the restaurant to the back, to both sides of the building. For good measure, they placed another arch sporting their "Speedee" logo to serve as a sign for the restaurants. For years, the arches remained only an architectural feature of the restaurants. In 1962, however, McDonald's looked to modernize its logo (and, according to some, avoid unflattering comparisons of its "Speedee" chef character with Alka-Seltzer's "Speedy" mascot). When viewed from a certain angle, the arches framing McDonald's restaurants formed an "M," so the company incorporated the arches into its new logo. In fact, early versions of the Golden Arches have a diagonal line, representing the roofline of the restaurants, cutting across the middle of the "M." The new logo proved a huge success, and the company stuck with the design even as McDonald's began removing the architectural golden arches from its restaurants throughout the sixties. STUPID QUESTION: How did Casper meet Wendy? -
You know math and those subjects that "nobody will ever use" are pretty critical to understand economics? Not really. But economics and US history go hand-in-hand, that's for sure. Hmm, obviously Geometry wasn't your thing either, cuzz your logic doesn't compute.

2011 Theme Park Review Trip Deposits!
LA Dan replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hi Robb, I have 2 questions: 1) Will the actual itineraries be provided before the next payment is due and before refunds are no longer being given for the deposits? 2) Are dietary needs/accomedations a possiblity? Thanks -
Hey, sorry about reviving this thread, but I just went FULL RETARD again! Can someone explain this?! If I send an email with my mailing address to this account will I get a BAG-O-CRAP?! Do I have to have an answer to a certain question in the email?! If so, what is the question?! Doctor " " DOOM!!! Hmm, I don't know. I've emailed Dan a lot and have never seen ... let alone, received the promised Bag-O-Crap. Seems the only one getting crap is Dan - haha.

New 2011: Rainbow Magicland Themepark (near Rome - Italy)
LA Dan replied to Ledgy's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Hmm ... will this park have a chance of being on a future TPR Trip? Italy is almost becoming a whole trip to itself. -
Long, hot, sometimes with trashcans overflowing ... and unthemed aka - boring. Go early ... take a mid-afternoon break at Hurricane Harbor - then go back after dusk.
-
Go to Florida ... Vegas - YUCK! No parks there ... just some rattleheadcoasters.
-
Dreamworld is cool - more for attractions, but expect some wait times in their "summer time" and bring a swim suit for the water park portion as it will be HOT! and a much needed break. If you like "Themeparks" better - than WB Movie World is a nice little park too. Superman is a fun ride there as is the Scobby Do Rollercoaster/Dark ride hybrid. Lethal Weapon is a bit rough ... and don't miss the water ride in their Bugs Bunny Land - it was a real surprise. There is also Sea World, but I did not go there, but they have a few coasters there and next door is the biggest water park in Australia. All the parks are close together in the Gold Coast which is about 35-45 mins. away from Brisbaine.

As far as Disney goes ... definately hit up Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea - plan at least a day for each. If you skip any Disney, skip HK Disneyland - it still doesn't have much to offer and the only unique ride to it is their Jungle Cruise, which isn't worth the trip just for that. Definately hit up Paris Disneyland and Disney Studios - in the fall, you probably can do both parks in a day if you start early in the morning and go till it closes. If you want a more leisurely pace - plan 2 days - 1/2 day at the Studios and 1.5 days in Disneyland Park iteself. In Florida - plan at least a day each for the 4 Disney World parks - EPCOT and the Studios there are my favourites. I can to the Magic Kingdom in 1/2 day to catch everything I want to hit - mostly what is different from Disneyland here in CA. Plan a full day for Universal - 1/2 day in Islands of Adventure on a slow fall weekday and you can do the whole place, but start with Harry Potter first. Same goes for the Studio park there ... a 1 day hopper and I can hit all the rides I like at both - but if you like it more relaxing pace - plan 2 days, this will allow for some doubling/repeating of the rides. If you have extrat time in Orlando - go to Sea World as well. If you have time for Tampa - go to Busch Gardens there ... fun place for thrills. At the Disneyland Resort - plan 2 days - 1.3 in Disneyland - gotta go to the original, and about .7 days in DCA - it's still not a full day park and won't be crowded at all on a week day. Eftieling is open year round - so I would go there if you are in Holland. Not sure if Europa park will be open while you travel - but if it is, definately go there.

I'll be getting a backstage tour of this ride in September, so if he hasn't posted by then, I'll post one in early October.

Hi Robb, I will be in Floriday at the end of September ... and I have the night of the 30th free I believe. I have two questions ... Will TPR be going to the Uni's HHN's this year and if so when? Would someone traveling alone enjoy HHN's and should I spend the money ... and is the no-wait in line option worth it? Thanks, Dan ADMIN EDIT: I went ahead and deleted your second post. While you are allowed to use this forum to ask for advice, we don't allow double posting or bumping just for the sake of doing so. If no one replies the first time around, no one will likely reply the second time. I have given you my thoughts below which hopefully give you a better idea for both of your questions.
