  1. I really enjoy the S&S towers too!
  2. That's probably my favorite wooden coaster (along with El Toro, Phoenix, and Lightning Rod) lol. Mine too! Love its intensity.
  3. ^There is a lazy river at SS. We just rode on it two weeks ago.
  4. I don't think there is a widespread reputation of SF parks being dirty and run down. My home park, SFGAm, is very clean and generally well-maintained, with a very solid ride collection, as I have experienced at some other SF parks. They are corporate-owned parks, though, so they generally lack the charm of some of the smaller, non-corporate parks.
  5. Viper does not always slow down at the top of the lift. I like it better when it doesn't.
  6. Lines of 2.5 hours on SupermanVR at SFNE today, with 5-10 minute dispatches. I still cannot believe they chose RB for this.
  7. Like I said earlier, it's Samsung driving this. By putting it on a flagship coaster, it puts more eyes on their product. As an advertiser, would you want your product on a ride that puts 1 million people through the que per year or one that does 450k? I understand that, but why did SFSTL put VR on their worst coaster, Ninja, then? Put it on Viper here or some other ride that is good, but does not attract huge lines.
  8. VR being added to Raging Bull. Lines should be fun if other SF parks are any indication.
  9. My family and I are so glad Bert is back. It is such a fun show and he is so funny and loveable. Loved the hour-long episode and seeing him on rides we rode at MiA! That Abusement Park ride was amazing for a backyard ride.
  10. The Boss is easily my favorite ride at the park. It is rough in certain seats and has gotten rougher over time, but I love the layout and the intensity of it.
  11. ^From what I have read, a Lex Luthor scene is enhanced and there is more motion with the cars, but honestly, after riding it at both StL last year and SFGAm this week, they seemed almost identical to me, but that is fine, as it is an awesome ride and I am glad it came here! It seems to be running much more reliably here than in StL, too, which is a big difference.
  12. Sounds good! Thanks! We'll hit Voyage first then. We missed Mammoth last time because we hit the waterpark a little late due to riding Raven first. We have two days this time thankfully.
  13. We are going next month (first time there since 2012). So, you recommend The Voyage first rather than Thunderbird? Is Thunderbird dead like the other coasters in the afternoon too? I know the walk to Voyage is shorter so we can get to the waterpark early.
  14. Sure is. It happened on Demon at my home park, SFGAm, in 1998. A guide wheel broke off an axle of a car, and the train stopped upside down in a loop. Some passengers were stuck up there for a few hours, and all had to be rescued by emergency personnel. No major injuries, and the train did exactly what it should have, considering a wheel broke off. No derailment occurred, consequently. I'm sure I would have literally pooped myself if I were in that train or in Boomerang when it ground to a halt, but honestly, it's somewhat comforting that no one is getting seriously hurt. "The wheels fell off" is one of those things that sounds ridiculously catastrophic. PS yes doing that to The Boss would be a good thing. I'm sure it was scary. They each got a nice settlement in the Demon incident, I believe $30k. Good to know that coasters are normally very safe though, because yes, the wheel coming off could absolutely be catastrophic if it were not for the safety systems stopping the ride. The Mindbender and Fujin Ragin accidents show just how catastrophic it can be when axles/wheels come off (though those were both due to lack of proper maintenance of the rides).

  16. 8 miles, 15 minutes to SFGAm.
  17. Having Goliath 15 minutes away at my home park, I found your comment about the elements being a bit too large intriguing, because I have often wondered what it could have been if they had not needed to secure the records of tallest, steepest, and fastest. That drop is huge, maybe too big, for the compact space the coaster is in. It is a great first drop, and still a great coaster that I enjoy immensely every time, but I just wonder if they could have squeezed more elements into it if the drop in particular was smaller. I love the zero G stall near the end though. Very unique element. I find the pacing fine. It never lets up. As you said, it still beats most wooden coasters, and is the #1 or 2 ride in a good coaster collection at SFGAm. I hope to ride more RMCs some day to compare!
  18. ^Screamin' Eagle. American Eagle is at SFGAm.
  19. ^I have to take Dramamine or I would not be able to ride much, as even many inverting coasters still make me sick. I tend to still avoid rides that spin too much, but at least I can get through most of them. Thankfully, I have never thrown up on a ride, though I have come close!
  20. Just wait until motion sickness begins hitting you when (if?) you become an adult. It started hitting me in my 20s, and it is very real. Flat rides that spin are the worst offenders for me. You might want to educate yourself on motion sickness and the causes of it. I take Dramamine most days I am at a park, which works, or my day would be ruined very quickly by illness.
  21. SFGAm is 3 hours from Mt. Olympus. Anyway, we went once in 2011 and while it was fine for the value, doubt we will ever be back after the accidents and these bad reports. We have SFGAm only 15 minutes away anyway.
  22. Man, do I miss Tidalwave and Sky Whirl! Batman was a great replacement for TW of course. Just sad the Sky Whirl spot is such a waste (Buccaneer Battle after Deja Vu). Even caught a glimpse of Davey Jones' Dinghies, the old flying boats. I remember riding those as a little kid. Thanks for that trip down memory lane!
  23. I actually like The Boss a lot. It is my favorite ride in the park. I guess I have a high tolerance for wood coasters, but I recognize that it is a very intense ride, and intense is different from rough to me (though it has some of both going on). I love its layout and intensity, because until we got Goliath SFGAm really did not have an intense woodie. That said, the ride quality definitely varies based on seat (was fine near the back for me this summer, much rougher in the middle). It has definitely gotten rougher over the years, as everyone knows. On our first visit in 2011, I could ride it hands up all the time. In 2012 and 2015, had to grab the bar a few times to avoid getting hurt. I would be happy with an RMC remake or a hyper for this park, but it definitely needs a new standout attraction. We still enjoy a trip to STL though.
  24. I'm still hoping it is something we have not even really considered. This park has always been a trend setter, not a follower.
