  1. No, I dated myself with the Davey Jones' Dinghies allusion! That must have been '79 or '80 when I first rode them. I try not to look at comments on the FB page too, because they just make me mad with their stupidity. I can separate the enthusiasts from the GP on there easily.
  2. Yea, Sorry. I was lazy. I hope it turns out to be a good ride. The envelope also says "Standing Orders." Looks like a clue to me.
  3. We were both kidding around. Oh. Sorry. Carry on, then. Like me, I'm sure you've seen the GP comments asking for that over and over. I thought I was on the SF Facebook page for a second Well, then, I want Shockwave back! And Davey Jones' Dinghies! I mean, flying boats! Who wouldn't love those again?
  4. EPIC WIN! TOTALLY AGREE! BRING BACK TIDAL WAVE! He was kidding. Tidal Wave, while fun enough at the time, had little ridership when it left. It was always a walk-on. V2 blows it away, though TW had the loop and was a Schwarzkopf.
  5. ^They did indeed use the puzzle last year, but someone was able to decode the entire picture well ahead of schedule, so the Riptide Bay info got leaked early. I assume they've taking measures to ensures it doesn't happen again. ^^I am hoping (maybe against hope) that we are not just getting a Eurofighter and Zacspin, at least not without something unique and bigger in addition, reason being that SF did a good job of giving each park a ride unique to that park rather than clones for this year, aside from the two Skycreamers (Eurofighter at SFOG, Zacspin at SFMM, Texas Giant rehab at SFOT, Riptide Bay for SFGAm, Rehabbed stand-up at SFGA, Wild mouse at SFNE, etc.). I just have a feeling they want to give such a popular park as ours something more than just a clone, when we've been waiting for a new major coaster since 2003, have lost two major coasters in the last 5 years once IW leaves, and the whole Chang thing fell apart, costing us a big IW replacement, even if it wasn't new.
  6. Yeah, like posters said, the answer will just be IW with a new name.
  7. Several weeks ago at SFGAm I was on Spacely Sprocket Rockets and one of my daughters got a sudden nosebleed while going up the lift. Wouldn't you know it, we then broke down with the train halfway into the station after completing the circuit, so she's sitting there, stuck, with a bloody nose for several minutes. I had her pinch her nose and tilt her head back. We all got exit passes, thankfully!
  8. I've been stuck on the top of the lift on American Eagle and Whizzer at SFGAm. Got stuck on Spacely's Sprocket Rockets this year, and wouldn't you know it, my daughter had gotten a sudden nosebleed on the lift, so here she is stuck halfway into the station with her nose bleeding. Glad we all got exit passes!
  9. Sounds like this might be a big ride, like I hoped.
  10. The storm was no fluke. Sounds like CYA. It was severe as it crossed half of Illinois before entering Indiana. It just missed us near Springfield, IL as we were driving back from SFSTL (we passed cars stopped under a viaduct). I've seen the radar returns that showed the ugly line of storms west of the fair. I also saw a photo of the shelf cloud over the fairgrounds that is indicative of a gust front approaching. The organizers admitted they knew a potentially severe storm was headed their way, but from what I read the outflow winds, which can proceed the main storm by several minutes and were what collapsed the stage, struck well before they were told the storm would arrive, unfortunately. They gambled the storm wouldn't have to stop the show, and they lost. The stage collapsed so quickly, too. Sad, sad story. I'm sure there is a lot of hard feelings over not evacuating the stage area sooner, but the deaths were preventable.
  11. We just rode it this afternoon (it's been 20 years for me since I last rode backwards). Eagle really isn't rough at all except for the end of the double helix. It's running well this year.
  12. Read to Succeed got extended to the 14th. Ugh. Hopefully most people used theirs already. We'll be there at chain drop for Eagle blue tomorrow!
  13. It's definitely the train itself, because I watch a blue side car lift up briefly while racing on the red side. I've been riding it since it opened, though, and it's always done it as far back as I can remember.
  14. It's done that for years and years. A bit unnerving, but it must not be anything serious.
  15. This rumor, I totally bought from the beginning because the lines are so short on IW, and it was a waste of operations $. The fact they didn't rehab at all was the big clue to me its remaining lifespan here was short. Now they can lure people with new attractionsl
  16. If you get new B&M trains as rumored, you'll enjoy it much more, like it was when it first opened, which was very smooth and fun.
  17. Not to call anyone out, but looks like Screamscape is right again. SFGAm World posted the latest rumor with the final date before SS this time, though, so SS should only get credit for Posting the SFA permit. Good move by the park. Excited we will now have two large spaces for future attractions.
  18. Screamscape reported it will reopen by next week now.
  19. Nah nah, wasn't intending to call him a liar at all. But a lot of people have forgotten the 1991 and 1996 backwards runs.
  20. I would think I would remember riding backwards as a teenager on it for a full season. Since you obviously were too young to be riding it then, here is the video link to the first time it went backwards, in 1991, 20 years ago, as I said. It also ran backwards in 1996, the 15th anniversary. Check your sources before trying to correct someone next time.
  21. It's been 20 years for me! It ran backwards the entire season upon the 10 year anniversary. I never rode red side that entire season.
  22. The video was gone within a couple hours, too. Hard to keep secrets in the digital age, but this one is on WGN as far as I can tell. Oh well. I think we had figured it out. Maybe there's more to the announcement.
  23. Greed? The guy died! No amount of money replaces a loved one, but they absolutely should be suing, because the park was negligent. I hardly think the family is thinking, "Yeah, we lost him, but at least we're going to get rich!"
  24. I am wondering where it will go too. Two good spaces for it.
