  1. ^OK, but it was a bit hard to tell based on when you posted. Just trying to head off more unrestrained silliness about restraints.
  2. He wasn't "freaking out." He was saying that he was happy that the ride lacked OTSRs.
  3. You left out a big chunk of the copy from Screamscape: Time will tell. I'm leaning toward the "Tornado/Insane" style restraints.
  4. There's already a whole thread devoted to this project: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=46758. Search is your friend.
  5. ^Please review our posting rules before you hit "submit" again: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21962. Pay particular attention to items 3 and 5. Thank you.
  6. Leave it to the writer to win the thread. Maybe Carowinds should've went with this, instead. Really, this would fit most of the major TPR criteria for the best ride ever.
  7. What if you're dishonest? Looks like there are two good reasons for renewing my Cedar Fair pass, anyway. I like the B&M hypers and the big Intamins, so all is well.
  8. You aren't going to have the sharp turns of Tornado or the inversions of Kirnu or Insane on Intimidator. Seems to me that the "straps" aren't going to be much of an issue (didn't bother me on Tornado, at least). This will be all I'm going to say about the restraints.
  9. ^^Sun bad! Sun burn! Great Ball of Fire evil!
  10. ^He's built a mini-version of The Ultimate.
  11. Once again, everyone needs to kick back, crack open a nice cold one, and relax. There's been far too much sniping back and forth in this thread. Please show some courtesy when responding to someone else's post, no matter how silly you think it may be.
  12. Wait a minute. Actually that's not true. Fox News doesn't add their point-of-views in most of the time. At least Fox 11 corrected themselves where if any other company such as NBC or CNN would've reported on this, they would've just forgot about it. Most newspapers aren't really awnest either since some only report one side of the story (such as the Reading Eagle) mostly on the liberal side. I could go farther into the issue, but I don't feel like it and don't need to since I don't want this to turn into a big flame war. I take it by "awnest" you mean "honest"? And since nothing really happened here, there really isn't anything to talk about except the news coverage. Hey, they goofed, and it's been corrected. Nothing to see here. Move along. This thread has my favorite title ever now--reminds me of an old Monty Python skit.

E-mail Robb and describe the problem--he might be able to help you out.
  14. ^Perhaps she had "the vapors." A good bleeding and she'll be right as rain.
  15. That'll learn ya. Our whole "24-hour news cycle" tends to encourage this sort of sloppiness (and not just from Fox). At least they corrected themselves quickly.
  16. ^It seemed a little busier this month than when Larry and I visited last year. The longest waits were for Time Machine (but that was due more to operations than to crowds) and Soak'd (low capacity). Still, it was hardly mobbed, and that was on a Saturday afternoon. By way of comparison, Mt. Atlanticus Minotaur Golf was freakin' mobbed that night (took 90 minutes to complete 18 holes).
  17. I kind of figured that. I did like Jeff's post and quote from Tropic Thunder, though.
  18. Thanks for sharing these pictures, Jeff. As for posting them "backwards," almost all first-time trip reporters do that. You'll get the hang of it, my old UK trip roomie.
  19. ^Hmm--we have strayed a wee bit off topic here. I can safely say that Intimidator will be the biggest coaster in Virginia--and that an off-the-shelf SLC would be worse than a Boomerang.
  20. You are aware that many major Civil War battles were fought in Virginia, right? (Quite a few more than were fought in Florida.) ^^My biggest problem when I moved to Virginia was avoiding sweet tea. Chuck "Carpetbagger from California" Campbell
  21. Looks like they're really shaking up Tampa's Howl-o-Scream this year, and that's a good thing (BGW appears to be ramping up their HOS, too).
  22. ^^I agree that El Toro (and other Intamin woodies) are awesome rides, but, let's face it, the park's major audience isn't the enthusiast community--it's the public (many of whom don't even realize that they still build new wooden coasters). A 305-foot steel coaster with a NASCAR theme will resonate more with the public and be an easier sell and bigger draw for the park. But I sure won't complain if KD wants to build a Balder or an El Toro someday.
  23. Ah, I-5 through the bountiful San Joaquin Valley. The region where I grew up. Note that I no longer live there. Did you pass the exit for Patterson on your way to the Bay Area? That's my hometown.
  24. And don't forget Curse of DarKastle--KD doesn't have anything comparable to that. I think Robb's suggestion is a good one. If you drive down from Great Adventure, you'll be passing by KD, anyway.
  25. I think you're mistaken on this point. This thread consists of pools of reasonableness that are often disrupted with competing waves from either side, crashing against one another. Differing opinions, OK. Pointless bickering, not OK. It's all in the tone; for example, the rest of your post Erik is quite good. Yes, I'm looking forward to checking this bad boy out based on past experience with Intamin rides--but I'm not passing any judgment until then.
