Commerson's Island [RCT2]
Califolf replied to Kraken & Manta's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Looking nice! I like the water slide - very colorful. Come to think of it, with the atmosphere and the perceived amenities, I might just wanna book a stay. -
Redline Park [RCT2]
Califolf replied to QueerRudie's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I like that underground coaster (as I used to build those kinds when I first got the game), but the scenery placement is an eyesore! Personally, I would very the trees to something non-uniform. Nonetheless, keep it up! -
[RCT2] Lone Star Gardens

Big Texan looks fun, though I'm not really fond of that giant gap. Then again, that seems to be a flaw in most cyclone woodies.. Keep it up! -
Happy Halloween from the Echenima Resort! We here are happy to set up our own spin on this time of year. First off, our photographer had some trouble transferring us the photos from the parks, so we're gonna have to play be ear with what we got. Starting off in Echenima Park, we have (sadly) caved in and added a (temporary) haunted house to Pacific Northwest which shall be removed, crushed, and burned immediately at the end of the festivities. at least the trees cover it up... meanwhile, Davisville has some neat little Jack-o-lanterns and cobwebs set up... ... where's the photographer? what? what do you mean they were deleted? .... anyway, I guess we'll go to the next overlayed area... For Futura, our MARFinvisinists went onto full-out change. Completely opposite of a green, clean optomistic future, say hello to post-apocolyptica futura: We didn't have to go far for inspiration - it was just outside our door - parts of Futura have been redressed to a harsh, dirty reality. Two attractions have been redressed: Nova Voyager - what is usually a fun, thrilling ride through space is now a rackety ride dodging (projected) space debris. Futura Dome - original 3D show has been temporarily replaced with one about a corrupt umbrella cyberdine-like corporation, and its ultimate destruction Two attractions remain open unchanged: Watchtale - this import from Liverpool which takes a satarical view on time travel remains open simply because it's new. Futura Center - sponsors demand it stay open, regardless, we dressed it up a bit. and two attractions are closed: PeRT and Sol 3 - simply, by pure coincidence, they're both under refurbishment. The studios does do Halloween as well, albeit theirs is more show-based (special parade and special nighttime show) and our photographer fell ill. Halloween at the Parks runs from September 25 - October 31 and is free for all - no extra event tickets required. That should do it, expect something new next time. Hasta luego!

Snippet of Orlando, bit of a transition to the next area (and yes, the unthemed cliffs and boat ride will be taken care of): -
Fellville Park [RCT2]

Loving the ghost town, it really captures the Knott's feel. And I agree with dot, the detail is outstanding. -
Grand Grove Thrill Resort [RCT2]
Califolf replied to braztaz's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I can think of several parks where the theming can be seen outside the park, even when driving by. Anyways, look forward to what's next. loving that water coaster! ^^ Keep it up! -
Six Flags Over Kentucky [RCT2]
Califolf replied to Arrow Fan 13's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
If you failed at this park, why not try doing something other than a six flags park? And RCT3 is a far more challenging game if you want to do decent parks. It looked good, what might help is to do what I do - outright ignore criticism and think/build 'outside the box' -
Figured I'd start with that article. Anyways, welcome to the Benetti Resort: Pardon the map's title, it was called 'Brunetti' in the planning stages. As you can see in the map above, we have three hotels (Pacifica, Canis Vulpes, and Crystal Springs) with one of them being inside the park, Capitola Promenade - an outdoor shopping plaza themed to a Californian beach town, three automated peoplemover lines (in yellow) and the main park - Veja Mundo. How did we get the name? it's a variation on Mundial de viaje, or 'World Voyage' in Spanish. Which is the theme of this park as a whole. So, without further ado, let's bring you around! First off is the rather simplistic entrance dominated by Hotel Pacifica: And as you can see, we have the monorail in place in the resort despite the fact that the rest of it is still held up in red tape. The first thing guests see is Point Luna, an entry area inspired by the towns along Monterey Bay, specifically its namesake: This area has no attractions per se, though you could call the integration of Hotel Pacifica a major highlight of the area (MARF would once again like to thank the Oriental Land Company for the idea). As a matter of fact, you can actually check in from within the park. Yes, those are parade gates in the top-right, as well as a premium restaurant in the center. That's it for now, I had to start this sooner or later... until next time, Hasta tiempo!

Roofs untop of stations
Califolf replied to CoasterBri86's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
It's a flaw in the game's default objects. You need to add a 'one height' wall ontop/below the 'full height' wall if you want to do rooves/ceilings. -

Thrillspot USA [RCT2]
Califolf replied to EastCoastn07's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Aside from the geographical impossibilities of fitting in another park in such a developed area such as Anaheim, I like what I see so far and look forward to seeing what you come up with. Hopefully this isn't an all-thrill generic Six Flags/Cedar Fair amusement park. If Dan Sharp is an ex-Imagineer, then I'm expecting to see some theming in here beyond what one would see in Knott's. Anyways, can't wait to see the result. ^^ -
While the resort is ready for halloween, we at MARF have decided to hold off showing it to you all until a bit later (making it a bit more 'timely'). So, to compensate, let's take a look at 'earlier' shots of the Studios.... It was international hat day, can't you tell? Now here's the major highlight, K9 Animation's Production Center has finally opened after much delay: This 3-story (the 'ground floor' is actually 12 feet below the 'park surface') attraction - The K9 Animation Center - is actually a collection of several mini-attractions as well as an 'anchor' - the Tour - surrounding a vast lobby. Attraction list goes as follows: The K9 Animation Experience - a walk-through tour of one of the 'wings' of the K9 Animation Facility. Actual authentic tour, nothing touristy. See the process of how your Favorite K9 film came to reality. Start from storyboard, to background artists, to the animation computers, to the sounds, and then end it off with a sneak peek at the next K9 animation film. Length of tour: 45-60 minutes. For safety, security, privacy, and mostly copyright reasons, video and photography is strictly forbidden. Artist's Den - Learn how to draw your favorite character here! Runtime: 30 minutes Tale of the Wolf - Film about the history of K9 animation and MARF as a whole. Runtime: 30 minutes Character Charter - A series of kiosks. Ever wanted to be a part of a K9 film? Ever wanted to make your own K9 film? Now's your chance! Just enter a few details onto the touchscreen kiosk (e.g. character/description, setting/film, day/time, etc) and you will get a generated short film that you can email home. The possibilities are endless (in fact, there are 5,092 variations based on your choosing) Runtime: generally, please don't spend more than 15 minutes here... there are other guests waiting behind you. What's a nice perk about combined studio-parks? Both Production facilities are well-integrated into the park. As such, if you're an employee for either K9 Animation of Falliday films, you enjoy free, direct access to the park via subtle access gates: Just simply slide your ID card at the gate and it will unlock. Overall view of the new K9 animation center and Wing 'T' of the K9 Animation Facility: Moving on, work on Section Nordguard is moving along at a snail's pace (blame multiple crashes >.>): Falliday has gotten a new eatery - Pasta House. Finally, one can enjoy pasta in the park: and I'll just end this with two more shots: I don't know about you, but it feels great to be back working on this!

Looks nice, love the architecture. -
^ Thanks! Next up, we have LEP's answer to Britannia - Americana: Now, after much searching for American architecture (which was harder than I thought) I have concluded that the country has no 'one' distinctive look, and went with a 'melting pot' of different architectural styles found around the country, like a mix of midwest/main street along the main corridor/parade route: The majority of the area is themed to that of a small colonial town with hints of art deco and mission revival, as seen below. Seen in that pic is America! in SurroundSight (a variation of CircleVision) that gives a whirlwind tour through the United States, its cities, its people, and its landscapes. 23 minutes in length, this attraction pretty much serves the same purpose as the one in Britannia back in the States. The next of three attractions in this relatively small area is the Great American Road Trip. Ride a sports car on a 'road trip' through this light-hearted dark ride recreating in a stylized way major towns and landmarks of the United States. Uses blacklighting heavily: Finally, we have the thrill ride for the area - Radio Bay Cab (working title) - an enclosed indoor launch coaster akin to Rock 'n Roller Coaster. The exterior takes inspiration from bits and pieces of San Francisco (complete with a mural of the city on the outside queue). The inside queue, however, recreates San Francisco International Airport. You then take a taxi from the airport to the Financial District (SanFran's Downtown). The driver says he'll get you there as fast as possible (for free, even), turns on the radio and you zoom past (and into, with appropriate breaking of glass) various landmarks (even barely dodging a BART train at one point). All the while the cars will blast music relating to California (strategically mixed to match the track elements), which (depending on your taxi) will vary from something as classic as Beach Boys and/or (covers of) Folk to something as modern as Katy Perry. If you want a layout pic, I'll do that later (as I failed to take a pic around that time). Though, you may take a look at the same ride (albeit slightly laid out differently) here. Okay, half the park done, 3 more areas left to complete:

Just a layout map for the Orlando Resort. Figured I'd post this before posting the park itself (which I need to work on) by the end of the week: As for the name? it's what Google Maps identified the area as. -
[RCT2] Lone Star Gardens
Califolf replied to Dotrobot's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
There is so much that I have to say about this, but I'll leave it to these: Trees are too monotonous, it feels to unnatural and 'carnival'. No park leaves paths unfenced, even for small portions, it just seems like a safety hazard. and I love the archway! But please add variety to the colors of the buildings. Overall, it's nice. keep it up! - Mike Folf -
[RCT 2]Kimeloff Amusements
Califolf replied to Califolf's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Perhaps I should've made the storyline (as any park I build/post will almost alway be written 'in story', so to speak) more obvious.... 'Kimeloff Amusements' is written to be intentionally flawed and imperfect as well as a satire of amusement parks. The owner/creater/character, Sindoa Kimeloff, is written as an aspiring entrepreneur with no experience whatsoever, hence a slight hint of unrealism. This is designed in contrast to the MARF parks (Echenima, etc), and both chains' storyline tie in to each other rather closely. As such, I can easily understand why someone gets confused and/or skips over the extra details. Why do I do all this extra stuff? Because it's fun! ^^ -

Sinoda Kimeloff = Insert clever donkey comment here = Join date: August, 2010 Greetings once again! While We settle some red tape in the bay, we have something new and fun for you all in the valley: I wanted something tall and fast, and the engineers gave me this - a 160 ft. tall Intamin Giga. I was slightly underwhelmed by the design, so I did what was allowed within my contract to do. I deemed it the 'Wild Fox' and chose the color design. Any allusions to a certain multi-media entertainment company ran by a crazy canine...fox...thing is completely coincidental. Yeah... coincidence.... Complete coincidence. Yeah... Um... Take a look at that crowd! Or how about some statistics? *runs* -
