  2. ^^ Chuck, donation sent, congrats on beating your goal! Ride like the wind!
  3. Tonight's edition features Sea World Orlando brochures from the 1990s. This was the decade that saw SWO's first steps in adding mega themed-attractions and rides. With the opening of the Universal Orlando Resort and Disney's Animal Kingdom, I felt SWO moved the park into the league of the big boys. New attractions included: Terrors of the Deep, Mission: Bermuda Triangle, Manatees: The Last Generation?, Pacific Point Preserve, Wild Arctic & Journey To Atlantis.Let's take a look back at Sea World Orlando in the 90's. 4. Hello Friends, after a long three-year hiatus, Eric's Brochure Kingdom has finally returned! Today's update continues to look at Sea World Orlando through the end of the 1980's. Highlighted in today's update is the brand new Penguin Encounter that opened in 1988. Figured it is an appropriate time to reminisce, as Antartica: Empire of the Penguins will soon be opening in it's place in a month. Enjoy! Sea World Orlando, 1985 brochure. 5. Happy Birthday Chris!!!!! Would love and appreciate your $12.34 donation birthday gift!
  6. Just signed up for World's of Fun. First time participating in Coasting For Kids - can't wait! Here is the link to my page: https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/eric-johnson-16/WorldsofFun2013 Please help me reach my starting goal of $500. Thanks!
  7. Thanks Jack for the report and it was great to see you. This was/is really great for anyone remotely interested in the theme park industry. Thoroughly enjoyed this event. Hoping I can attend next year!
  8. Thanks Robb for the heads up! Looks like a great lecture. Kevin and I got our tickets for the 9pm session, should be fun. Hope to see some familiar faces there!
  9. On the specific BGT page regarding the new show they mention that they will be enclosing the old Stanleyville theater and adding air-conditioning. Glad it is being remodeled and will add another option in the park to get out of the heat! http://seaworldparks.com/buschgardens-tampa/Attractions/Shows/Madagascar-Live
  10. Got an awesome surprise in the mail this week - a bag of TPR crap! This was from responding to a Facebook post when the New Fantasyland area opened. It is great! Thanks so much for sending this out to me. Really appreciate it. Eric My awesome bag of crap i received this week!
  11. Morgan thanks for posting the photos! Everything looks great! After a bunch of crazy weeks from our commitment ceremony, we are now back to fully focusing on our Celebrity Eastern Med. honeymoon cruise on the Equinox in less than 2 weeks! This is our first time on Celebrity, we realize it is an older crowd, but hopefully not as old as HA or Princess. From what we can tell the Equinox looks to be pretty sleek. And Morgan - thanks again for making the travel videos, we still watch and study those! I know they will be a big help when we are in our Med. ports. Can't wait to see more photos of your trip! Quick question, the weather looks nice, what were the temps like in the Med.?
  12. Thanks for the update! Looks like construction is at full steam at the Studios. Glad Universal is continuing to update/expand the parks at a good pace.
  13. Looks like I may need to take a trip out to the West Coast ASAP! Lots of great additions to all the parks since my last visit in 2008. I was thinking about doing next year's WCB, but I might have to do a full fledge TPR West Coast Tour the next time it is offered! Thanks for the posting this trip report, looks like you had a good time!
  14. Great first trip report! BGW is one of my favorite parks of all time. Just a gorgeous setting with a great mix of attractions. Thanks for posting!
  15. Adventure Island has had their version of this called "Caribbean Coin" for almost 7-8 years. They used to really promote it, but the last few years you have to ask about it. Their isn't any advertising for it. This is the best thing you can have for a water park. So much easier than going back to the locker every time. Hopefully all parks will follow with BGW and AI's type of bracelet.
  16. Super excited, it's official! Kevin and I just booked our 10 night Eastern Mediterranean honeymoon cruise for this fall on the Celebrity Equinox. Neither of us have been to the Mediterranean or have cruised on Celebrity. The Equinox looks really sleek. I've only heard good things about Celebrity, hopefully it is all true. The Itinerary looks to be a good balance of major busy sightseeing port days, easier chill-out port days and 2 days at sea (our favorite parts of cruising). Can't wait to go! Out Itinerary: Day 1 Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy Day 2 Sicily (Messina), Italy Day 3 At Sea Day 4 Athens (Piraeus), Greece Day 5 Ephesus (Kusadasi), Turkey Day 6 Rhodes, Greece Day 7 Santorini, Greece Day 8 Mykonos, Greece Day 9 At Sea Day 10 Naples, Italy Day 11 Rome (Civitavecchia), Italy

  19. ^ One of the busiest times you can visit the Florida theme parks (if not the busiest) is the week between Christmas and New Years. I highly do not recommend visiting during that time. Sometimes the Orlando parks can reach capacity by late morning. And if that happens, you do not want to be in the parks anyway. You should expect at least 1 hour plus waits for any major attraction and really unusual long waits for minor attractions. Both Islands of Adventure and Busch Gardens will be very busy. Only advice is to get to the parks at least 45 minutes to an hour before park opening. Purchase the Universal Express Pass for IOA and the Quick Queue Pass for BGT. Try to eat during none popular eating times like before 11am and after 2pm for lunch. Before 4:30pm or after 7:30pm for dinner. Usually Jan. 1st and the rest of the month of January, the parks are like a ghost town, and a much better time to visit.
  20. I would imagine them doing something similar to Legoland California and place the entrance to the waterpark inside the theme park and offer it only as part of a combo ticket. Hopefully they will build a family type raft slide like at California's. If I remember right Cypress Gardens had 2 tower slide complexes. One complex featured a free-fall slide, a tall bumpy slide and a enclosed curved speed slide. I can imagine that they would remove these 3 as they appeal to more aggressive thrill seekers. The second tower featured 2 single and double raft flume slides which I can picture them keeping. They will most likely keep the lazy river, wave pool and splash bucket slide complex. It will be cool to see a LEGO re-theme to the whole water park area.
  21. Something I thought was also interesting, unless you were familiar with Cypress Gardens or walked to the back of the gardens you would never know the old water park is still standing. LEGOLAND did a good job masking the old entrance to the water park by the Flying School coaster. So if they do expand in the future like the rumors are by re-opening the water park, it will be a surprise for a lot of guests. The water park is not that visible from the road. Another thing I forgot to mention is that all the park employees were super friendly and all seemed to be very excited and happy which is a good thing.
