  1. Nice photo TR. But Kings Dominion isn't a Kings Island knockoff...that makes as much sense as calling Kings Island a Kings Dominion knock-off.
  2. I love the season long Maverick redesign! Hopefully it will reopen at the, ehemm... scheduled time. I really enjoyed riding Intimidator with the hard restraints and no trims on 5/14. It was a challenge every time for me to learn how to ride the ride. After a couple of laps, I figured out which ways to push my body and counter act the masterful Intamin chopping. I guess now I'll just have to take a more passive role and allow the ride to take me. Take me, Timmy, take me!! Ahhhhahaha!! I might need to use my platinum pass again this year... quite a 14 hour drive from west of Chicago, though (but worth it). -Rob For the old restraints, there was actually an easy way to ensure that you'd never bang your head, not even once. First of all, you need your hands in the air at all time. All you have to do after that is push both arms against the restraints while they're in the air. Don't know why, but it always works and I never get head-bangers when this happens.
  3. I rode it when there were no trims, when there were those little ones at the top, and then now with the full trims.. I have to say I like it with the full trims better. The restraints are great now, too Also, do they have water-sprayers at the top of the first hill? Beause when I went over it I got splashed by something, I'm wishing it was a water sprayer and not someone's spit x_x And airtime was just as great, too
  4. Heading down there today, even with the extreme heat I'll be able to stay cool at the water park. Considering the heat, how crowded do you think the park will be? (Both the water park and the actual park itself) I want to ride Volcano again, but the lines are just unbearable for that.
  5. I'm loving that new ride! I like the queue, too
  6. The park's going along nicely, but may I suggest dropping the storyline for now? You could start it up later- just it's very unrealistic to have all those major rides demolished and moved, and in such a quick time. Just a thought.
  7. So I'm putting up some catwalks on a B&M Hypercoaster, I'm almost to the top, but I can't reach where I want to put them :\ the screen cuts off to soon. Zooming out doesn't help, either. Any solutions?
  8. Snakebite Hills? thirstydeer already made some pretty good suggestions, but I'm loving this park. nice work!
  9. Yeah, I like it too. Looking forward to some more photos.
  10. 1981: Season Six Nothing new this year. But, I've heard they're planning something big for next year... (I've seen some construction) ... 1982: Season Seven Hear it's mighty roar the next time you visit Paradise Point! The "Mountain Lion" is a 115ft-tall Arrow inverting coaster. It flips you upside-down 3, yes 3, times! Located in the back of the park in it's own section, this ride will keep you thrilled for years. Check out some of the photos... mountain lion.bmp The lift hill and drop. (not the most thrilling of drops, but that's what "Guardian" is for!) mountain lion 1.bmp Into the loop.... mountain lion 3.bmp twist and turn, twist and turn! mountain lion 4.bmp Into the two corkscrews! mountain lion 5.bmp great head chopper feeling! wow!! mountain lion 7.bmp full layout. mountain lion 8.bmp Unfortunately, this ride has caused much stress for the owners of Paradise Point... There were many problems during the construction of the ride. Conflicts with Arrow Dynamics, and the budget and difficulties of the ride (because of the constant change in elevation of land) were overwhelming. Construction was delayed because of the quarrel, but Paradise Point went through with the plan to construct the coaster. Construction was done just two weeks before the park was set to open for the season, but PP was still determined to release it. With quick testing, and a few tweaks, it opened with the park to many's shock. But, there was a downside- the queue and ride station were very poorly built. The section where the ride's located is very empty and it seems like a turn-away for the general public. Why don't they just fix it now that he seasons started? Well, it's not that simple. The park is now in HUGE debt- workers are being laid off, which leads me to believe that the rides and areas won't be as perfectly maintained anymore. They are also planning on raising the entry fee a whopping 10 DOLLARS during the summer. So even more families will be turned away. I'll make sure to update you as soon as possible. ~AS
  11. Does anyone know what's going on with Apollo's Chariot? It's been closed down since Sat/Sunday.
  12. I was talking about entering the overbanked turn first.
  13. Wow! Thanks everyone! triggernel: This section of the park is only open during the winter/holiday months, while the rest of the park is closed. For the regular season, the fake snow will be taken out so it won't stand out so much. The kidie coaster, snow cups, and other live shows will be closed during the regular season. More updates coming soon!
  14. I haven't ridden i305 since it was reduced to 79.5. But actually, it's 80 MILES PER HOUR twists and turns. Just cause it's in the 70s doesn't mean it's 70 mph. It's .5 away from 80! He's making it sound much worse than it is.
  15. Wow, I'm really looking forward to some more news. Seems like a great addition. So, do we know how tall it's going to be? Just around 260 feet or 300+?
  16. It's kind of a half-overbanked turn, into a diving loop. inversion.bmp
  17. WINTER VILLAGE- November 28th, 1980: WINTERFEST.bmp Guests walk into the normal park entrance, but the usual deal is blocked off, and they walk to their right and find the entrance to "Winter Village". WINTERFEST 1.bmp Entrance banner. Opening day for the "Winter Village" at Paradise Point, which will be open until New Years Eve. Schedule Ahead: Friday, November 28th, 1980 - Sunday November 30th, 1980: 5:00PM-11:00PM Monday - Thursday: CLOSED Friday - Sunday, December 7: 6:00PM-11:00PM Monday-Thursday: CLOSED Friday- Sunday, December 14th- 6:00PM-11:00PM Monday-Thursday: CLOSED Friday, December 19th, 1980: 6:00PM-11:00PM Saturday, December 20th - Sunday, December 21st: 5:00PM-11:00PM Monday December 22nd - 23rd: 5PM-11PM Christmas Eve 1980: 5PM-8PM Christmas Day 1980- CLOSED December 26th- December 30th: 6PM-11PM New Years Eve (Closing Day)- 6PM- 1AM Guests who bought Season Passes for the regular season will NOT be able to use their passes for Winter Village. Single day passes are $10.00 for kids under the age of 3 or seniors over the age of 65, and $18.00 for regular guests. Winter Season Passes are $26.00 for juniors and seniors, and $29.00 for regular guests. Guests can enjoy the "SnowCups", and a kiddie coaster: "IceFire" (IceFire open if weather permits). WINTERFEST 8.bmp "SnowCups" WINTERFEST 9.bmp "IceFire". WINTERFEST 10.bmp "icefire" indoor heated queue. But that's not all! Winter Village has it's own personal Ice-Rink, where guests can skate to their desires, taking a break for "Paradise's Spectacular Ice Show",which takes place twice every operating night and lasts for about an hour. WINTERFEST 4.bmp Indoor Ice Skating Rink. Behind the ice rink is an amazing "Snowball Rink", where guests participate in organized snowball fights and capture the flag. They are usually split up into two teams, except for "Last Man Standing", which is every man for himself. WINTERFEST 6.bmp Sounds like a lot of fun! The team's territories are split up by a small fence. In the middle of everything is an elevated stage, where there will be spectacular live shows, singing holiday carols and performing wonderful dances. Guests can sit in the stadium-like seats to watch all the action. WINTERFEST 3.bmp To the left is the live stage. WINTERFEST 7.bmp View from guest's vantage point (kind of). Also, enjoy some hot chocolate, wonton soup, and hot burgers in Winter Village's restaurant. Also, there's a cool arcade (heated, by the way!) where guests can warm up and have fun. WINTERFEST 11.bmp (ignore the trees, they're outside the park's border ): Wow! With all these live shows, rides, snowball fights, and ice-skating, this is sure to be a hit! Opening day was pretty crowded, but I'm sure crowds will die down a bit in the middle of December. Paradise Point really outdid themselves on this one, and it just gives me another reason to not be able to wait until NEXT holiday season! Thanks for reading, and remember, COMMENT please! WINTERFEST 2.bmp Overview of entire area.
  18. They're not supports, just head-chopper like scenery. Thanks, again!
  19. They're not supports, just head-chopper like scenery. Thanks, again!
  20. 1980: Season Five Bring on the '80s! Although I wanted a huge, massive, amazing new coaster, I had to realize that "The Guardian" will be the newest for a while. Perhaps a ride that goes upside down soon? Ah well, what we got this year was "Teacups", which, yeah, was a new teacups flat ride for the kiddies. 1980 1.bmp Yeah, a good addition to their flats. Oh yeah, and did I mention the huge expansion their currently working on right now? Check this article I found in a (rival! sshh...) newspaper. PARADISE POINT ready to give WINTER THRILLS This Winter, prepare to be amazed."Paradise Point", which has offered us five years of thrills so far, isn't going to let winter and cold weather stop it from giving the public a good time- coming this Thanksgiving, it's "The Christmas Village"! (working title). Enjoy live shows, hot food, and even some rides not open for the regular season. An entire section of the park will be used for the new winter area... That pretty much sums it up! I'll be sure to get there opening weekend to take some photos for you all to enjoy. But for now, enjoy some construction photos. 1980 2.bmp A kiddie coaster is being constructed. I'm assuming it'll be open if weather permits, but I hear they're inserting some type of heater to keep the track from freezing up. You can also see the indoor ice rink in the bottom left corner. 1980 4.bmp Entrance sign being constructed. They expect basic construction to be done by July, and then they'll be putting down some nice fake snow and adding "snowy" trees to give it more of a christmas feel. Stay tuned, and I will report to you what's going on opening day!
