  1. The beauty is seeing an AWFUL coaster being submerged in the ocean
  2. I just think it's hilarious how many people think a park can operate on a pier and be unprepared for a hurricane. You sure hope stuff like this never happens, but being on a boardwalk/pier, I'm sure the park has plans besides "We lost a coaster! We're done! Everybody go home!"
  3. The pier could and should use this as an opportunity to improve. I'm fairly certain the owners of the piers are less upset about the coasters than some of the people in this thread.
  4. The worst damage appears to be in Seaside Heights... which confirms that even mother nature hates Jersey Shore.
  5. Let me cry about the loss of Star Jet... done. I think the only thing remotely upsetting is the loss of Stillwalk Manor. Then again, I'm a dark ride fanboy nerd, so I'm probably one of about 7 people upset by the loss.
  6. http://www.myfoxny.com/story/19948424/storm-damages-amusement-pier-in-seaside-park Here's another article on Funtown Pier from a couple hours ago. According to the article, roughly 30 feet was lost, but other sections are "buckling from the force".
  7. http://weather.weatherbug.com/NJ/Wildwood-weather/weather-cams/local-cams.html?zcode=z6286&camera_id=WLDWO&camera_animate=1 Here's a webcam of Morey's Piers.
  8. Here's a quote from BGW on their FaceBook page, where everyone is running around in circles screaming about whether or not the park is open or closed and the weather is nice or not.
  9. Anyone looking for a final trip to the park this weekend should avoid Sunday if at all possible. While Sundays are usually the only ideal days for BGW this time of season, Tropical Storm Sandy is plowing through and Sunday's forecast calls for a 90% chance of heavy rain with "tropical storm conditions possible".
  10. Went to Haunt tonight, absolutely empty, longest wait was 20 minutes for Blue Ridge Bloodbath. Got 8/10 mazes done skipping Slaughterhouse (as I find it to be a poor house anyways) and Cornstalkers, which was closed. Anyways, here's my breakdown. Blue Ridge Bloodbath - 7/10. It's a unique concept for Haunt, and it has it's moments. But something about being in a car makes the whole experience less frightening for me. A few good scares here. Doll Factory - 9/10. Remains hands down the creepiest maze at KD. Scares are aplenty as well with some neat affects, creepy costumes, and great positioning. Definitely a can't miss. Toxic Plague - 10/10. When I went through, there was no line so it was just me and my family, a total of four people. Needless to say scares where everywhere in this house, the dim lighting also provides some GREAT hiding spots. No Vacancy - 6/10. The lighting was too bright which lead to most of the scares being seen way in advance. Still a decent house. The scenery inside is INCREDIBLE, but the scares are hit or miss. Club Blood - 8/10. As always, it's a great maze. It's short, but it packs a lot into the little time it has. Still one of my favorite houses. Camp Killauee - 7/10. Scares are far between, but they are good when they come. A neat maze, a bit short, but still good. Medieval Macabre - 8/10. MUCH MUCH improved over last year. The lighting has been turned down, the whole inside (minus a room or two) redone, the costumes new, and the scares abundant. Still does have a problem with becoming a bit of a queue towards the end of the house. Outbreak: The Evolution - 7/10. Very much a timing maze. You'll either get scared or simply laugh at those ahead of you getting scared. It's a very timing reliant maze but, when it works, it's good. SCARE ZONES: Primeval - 1/5. Okay, cannibal tribesmen. I'm game. That's cool. So... when do they actually do something besides stand around? Necropolis - 5/5. Easily the best scare zone of the night. Scares are abundant and very well done. Feary Tales - 3/5. Not bad, but not great. A scare or two tops.
  11. Well, the masses are taking to FaceBook to complain that opening night didn't go perfectly. I only had time to do two houses, but Fear Fair seems to be a whole new maze and much better maze, Dead Line is still great too. The Roaming Hordes concept is really neat, it just didn't work out tonight. They had a "roving hoard" of clowns, and one of chainsaw wielding, deformed, something or others. The clowns ran around, I bumped into them twice, the chainsaw wielders I saw headed down the path from France to Ireland and than never again. I have faith the problems can be fixed, I mean there's not too much wrong with the houses, just the manpower!
  12. Headed to the park tonight for the first night of Howl-O-Scream. God help me, I wouldn't go on Bring A Friend Free Day, but this year I got these strange new things called "friends" myself. I'm just going to anticipate 1 hour waits minimum for everything.
  13. Sundays aren't bad at all. I usually go on Sundays and the longest I've ever waited was about 45 minutes for Bitten, everything else is usually walk-on to 15 minutes tops. Fridays are worse than Saturdays, but pretty bad. Saturdays are... you're a brave soul if you try to visit Howl-O-Scream on a Saturday.
  14. Yeah, Howl-O-Scream is starting super early this year, but I sure do hope you have fun! Just be ready for Howl-O-Scream crowds, the park does sometimes reach capacity during Howl-O-Scream on Saturdays, but only as it gets later in the day/evening, so you should be more than okay!
  15. Speaking of Howl-O-Scream, the final few new additions for this year have been posted to the site. Included are; That brings it to 6 houses! And 3 shows... Not to mention a bar... And the nurses move over to Ireland. And that appears to be it for Howl-O-Scream 2012. Not a bad line-up if you ask me!
  16. Another new ride is in the works for SFA in 2013! Here's the quote from their FaceBook page;
  17. Looks like the full Howl-O-Scream site is live. Not much new from last year. Though, rumor is there are still a few new things that will be announced closer to the event. Haunted Houses 13: Your Number's Up - Ireland For 13 long years, the dark tower was locked away from the world—existing only in the nightmares of those who had dared to experience Howl-O-Scream’s first and most terrifying maze. But now the seal has been broken. The tower is open once more and on the 13th floor, your darkest phobias and fears lurk in the shadows. Are you brave enough to face them or is your number up? Catacombs - France Through a ruined cemetery filled with statues lies a tunnel that leads to an underground city. Its history is more terrifying than that of France’s worst revolutions. Deep within these tunnels lie mile after mile of bones—the final resting place for those who are buried here. But all is not as quiet as it appears. As guests venture forth into the dank, dripping corridors of rat infested remains, the voices of the dead begin to speak, and some have taken shape. Fear Fair - Festa On the dark outskirts of the Fair Grounds near Festa Italia, a traveling carnival is waiting under a stained and tattered big top. Lift the flaps of the tent and discover the macabre—a fantastic collection of freaks, psychotic clowns and other insane oddities that defy human explanation. Will your sides split with laughter? Or will you turn around and run for your life? Either way, you’ll quickly understand why this evil carnival is doomed to wander the Italian countryside … never stopping in the same village twice. Bitten - Germany Suspicion, darkness and mind-numbing fear surround the “Bitten” house which is set in Eastern Europe in the late 1800s. Full of legends and lore of vampires and the undead that preyed on the innocent, this manor sits by the road upon which all travelers must pass but few return. Dead Line - Italy Deep underground, construction of the newest line of the Pompeii Metro was moving smoothly until an ancient pipe was accidentally struck. At first, it seemed like steam. Then the mist became thicker, more sinister. Now the strange gas is leaking quickly, and everyone trapped inside is infected. The difficult decision was made to cut off all communication to the outside world. The Dead Line is off the grid. Shows Dig it Up - Italy Relics long forgotten and buried in the vaults of the Muse di San Marco have recently been dug up, dusted off and brought to life through song. Cavemen, Egyptians, Romans, and even an alien encounter make their musical debut in this eclectic energy packed anything goes at Halloween show. Fiends - Ireland The wacky doctor and his manic nurses are creating the ultimate Fiend, and there’s not a bad seat in the lab. The voltage is high, and so is the fun as they sing, dance, and bring you along on the operation of a lifetime. Scare Zones Roaming Hordes Under the cloak of night, Busch Gardens’ pathways are taken over by roaming minions from your deepest fears. No place is safe in the darkness of the gardens. You have been warned.

  19. I lost my Knoebels virginity on Sunday, and honestly I have nothing but positive things to say. Phoenix is easily my favorite Wooden, the brass ring carousel was a treasure, the food was delicious, the operations fantastic, the prices great. Knoebels is a gem, and a classic. I'm just sorry it took me this long to get out there.
