Yeah I figured it would have at least 6 but wasn't sure. Extremely unlikely that all of them would fail at once as most elevators have at least 6 hoist cables so if all of them failing was 'common' elevators would be falling all over the place and that never happens, but if they did, what would happen? Thanks. -

I have a technical question about this awesome ride. The rotating carousel is raised by cables, don't know how many, but is there a redundant safety system in place such as magnetic brakes at the base of the tower, in the extremely unlikely event that those cables failed....what would happen? I would imagine there are magnetic brakes in place similar to Intamin drop towers but I don't recall reading anything about it.....that would be a fun freefall though! Can sombody provide information on this? -
I was just thinking because of the whole Tatsu problem, but they still have the other side of the mountain. I was just trying to make a generalization, so nothing happens in the future if they do decide to build on top of the mountain. Sorry if I made it seem like the whole mountain is unstable. Wasn't the problem you are talking about the hill sort of having mini slides due to the fact that the rain runoff was causing excess erosion because of all of the vegetation that had been removed to build Tatsu? A minor problem at best, just some erosion, that's all, no coaster moving or anything like that....nothing a little retaining wall didn't fix so basically a non-issue. And I don't think you need to worry about anything being built anywhere on the mountain, as pointed out, there are several structures and rides that have been on there for DECADES and have not had any problems, so it's a pretty good bet to say that they know what they are doing and know where they are building on so there is no need to worry about any of that. What do you think connects the pneumatic launch/lift system to the ride vehicle? S&S towers use cables too, a cable could break just as easily on an S&S tower, it just hasn't happened YET.

Yes, and it used to be lap bars only, they ran it with no trim brakes, and it was common to see two trains running the circuit at the same time-OMG can you believe that? Two train operation, two trains on the circuit at the same time..... The The first one is a post card I bought at MM about 5 years ago and I think the second one is a postcard of a picture of it from its first year or two in operation, and if you look real close it looks like all three trains are on the circuit, which they used to do in the early years thanks to the blocking. Also early on, I believe they timed the dispatches so that as one train was going through the loop, another one was threading it simultaneously.

So it went from a guest with a severe hand injury to a mechanic with cuts on his arm, stupid news media! Do they even bother to check facts and sou rces first anymore? Now, this makes the use of the helicopter even more asinine! News stations around here do stuff like that sometimes, but they are usually right. Not as bad as they are down there.

I could see this story making the morning news show or a small article in the morning paper, but certainly NOT breaking news or needing to fly a helicopter over there. Still early I know but it doesn't seem too serious in the sense that it warranted all of this. Sometimes the news media makes me want to puke!

"Tai-ot-soo"! Was it really necessary to send "Sky9" over there to cover this....for what? Okay, so there's the coaster, in the dark, not operating, nothing going on.......yeah makes a lot of sense! Its so ridiculous how they jump all over something like this. Sure its newsworthy, but sending a helicopter over there, really? Now stay tuned for a week long series of reports on so called "amusement" parks as they uncover the shocking truth, these virtual death traps have nothing amusing about them! Of course during all that nonsense they will typically neglect to mention the fact that amusement park rides are generally 1 MILLION TIMES SAFER than the car you rode in to get there and that you are more likely to have an accident in your own home or even walking down the street than you are on any rollercoaster.

That layout doesn't look very inversiony, hard to tell. -

^That picture proves that even if a park appears to not have room to build more, if they wanted to, they would find a way to do it, as clearly show there. And that applies to ANY park. Btw, what park is that a photo of? Looks like I'm going to be downloading some more POV videos.
