  1. I was really looking foward to this, hell almost even booked my flight before the media day was even 'officially' announced. But of course one little snag..

How come anyone of any age can get a plane ticket but you have to be 25 to rent a car or get a hotel room? There is some sort of crazy conspiracy here, kind of like how hot dogs come in packs of 10 and hot dog buns come in packs of 8.. but I digress. I could always get a taxi from the airport.. but I don't even want to begin to think how much that would cost. Looks like I'll be missing out on this excellent opportunity.

  8. I heard Chef didn't actually quit.. but we'll see tonight I guess

"Isaac Hayes did not quit "South Park." My sources say that someone quit it for him.

I can tell you that Hayes is in no position to have quit anything. Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion.

It’s also absolutely ridiculous to think that Hayes, who loved playing Chef on "South Park," would suddenly turn against the show because they were poking fun at Scientology.

Last November, when the “Trapped in a Closet” episode of the comedy aired, I saw Hayes and spent time with him in Memphis for the annual Blues Ball.

If he hated the show so much, I doubt he would have performed his trademark hit song from the show, “Chocolate Salty Balls.” He tossed the song into the middle of one of his less salacious hits and got the whole audience in the Memphis Pyramid to sing along.

I can tell you, Hayes was very pleased with himself, was in a great mood and, as always, loved his fans' coming up to him and asking him about Chef."

AV Club: They did just do an episode that made fun of your religion, Scientology. Did that bother you?

Hayes: Well, I talked to Matt [stone] and Trey [Parker] about that. They didn't let me know until it was done. I said, 'Guys, you have it all wrong. We're not like that. I know that's your thing, but get your information correct, because somebody might believe that [expletive], you know?' But I understand what they're doing. I told them to take a couple of Scientology courses and understand what we do. [Laughs.]

The Tennessee/Wichita State game had me on the edge of my seat for the entire 40 minutes.. it was crazy.. GO SHOCKERS!

8:30PM UPDATE: The LSU/A&M and Washington/Illinois games were both rediculous.. If I don't have a heart attack by the end of today it will be a miricle. Illinois is my first Sweet 16 casualty.. luckly I had them losing to UConn so no major harm done.. yet..

    Go Zags and Bruins!

10:30 UPDATE: Despite close games both Gonzaga and UCLA pulled it out..

    7-1 today

    26-6 in the First Round

    0-1 in Opening Round

So far the only team to dissapoint me is Marquette and thats only because I way overvalued the Big East's strength and undervalued the SEC's.

This GW/UNCW game has been as good as advertised, but Gonzaga is really worrying me..

11:45 UPDATE: Syracuse is trying to come back, hopefully they can rekindle some of that Big East Tourney magic. Indiana appears to be letting me down too.. more on that later..

According to the numbers this should be a very close game.. but I don't think it will be that close.

    PICK: Washington

I really don't know a damn thing about basketball so it's probably a good idea to go the opposite direction for every pick. Anyone depending on my expertise or 'analysis' for correct picks is mental anyway. I want to have Bruce Pearl's babies.

  18. So over a day since the brackets were released and nary a word.. interesting...

First things first.. HOW BOUT THEM GATORS!11 Yeah ok so they just beat the Cocks but a SEC Title can't be taken away..

Ohio State and Texas both lost their conference championships clenching the 1 seed for Memphis.

Duke won the ACC for the 7th time in 8 years but will surely be rewarded with a Sweet Sixteen loss as they usually are..

Teams Who Shouldn't be in there: Air Force, Utah St.

Teams Who Should: Missouri St., Hofstra, Cincinnati

Teams Who Didn't deserve To Go To The Big Dance But Will PWN the NIT: Michigan, Maryland, Florida St., Creighton

I'll have a full first round 'preview' tomorrow but until then here a preview of the Opening Round game...

All signs point to Monmouth winning, which is why I'm picking Hampton to face Villanova Friday. Man its going to be a great weekend..

  19. First off let everyone shift our attention to more important matters as Villanova's Allan Ray, who got hit in the right eye had to be rushed to the hospital. They're saying its not as bad as it initially looked, but everyone wish the best for him. Anyway on to the games..

    10PM Update:

Congrats to Bucknell, this is probably the best team to not be ranked, expect them to do some damage in the big dance, they beat Kansas in the first round last year...

Gerry McNamara is rediculous.. it will be a shame if he doesn't continue this run into the tourney. An upset over Villanova/Pitt tomorrow could be the story of the year...

You have to feel for NC State fans, consistantly good teams, consistantly bad coaching.. FIRE HERB!.. they'd be in the NIT if they weren't in the ACC.

Tennessee.. oh Tennessee... as a Florida fan.. I must ... just... BAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH

alright hopefully karma wont bite me in the ass, Bruce Pearl is a nutjob. And I mean that in the nicest way possible.

    UPDATE 11:30

Damn.. good job Pitt, pretty much dominating the entire game against 'Nova. I expect them to go far in the tourney.

Michigan State over Illinois.. Illinois tried to mount a comeback but couldn't put it together, in the grand scheme I don't think it will dent either team in either direction. Both should still make the tourney and have fairly high seeds.

    UPDATE 2:30AM

    OMFG

The Cal-Oregon game was freaking INCREDIBLE.. 2 OTs and a conference record in scoring! Shame for those who snoozed..

  21. Today was a great day for college basketball fans.. 53 games in 15 conference tourneys.. (just so you know how many that is, the ENTIRE NCAA tourney is 64 games.. so its like the first 3 and a half rounds played in one day.. kinda sorta.. yeah it doesn't really make sense)

Three big upsets today Syracuse over UConn, and Temple over George Washington. Syracuse should be guarenteed to get a bid now, and GW probably drops to a 5 seed or lower. Their loss gives another crappy A-10 team a chance to lose in the first round and takes away a much needed bid from bubble teams like Florida State, Maryland, Michigan, Cincinnati, Seton Hall and hell even Kentucky and Arizona. The last major upset occured today after you were all alseep when Oregon defeated Washington.

Lets see whos made the field of 65 so far.. (I thought about adding random facts and oddities but I'll have to save that for another day)
