Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Just saw Luminosity tonight. It was..... Ok. The lighting effects, pyrotechnics, and sound were all fantastic. The live actors however were kind of the let down of the show. It was really hit and miss to have a song where the people singing could actually sing the song well. All the dancing and choreography was fine though. I almost think that the show would be better if all the actors did was dance and they just played the actual recording of the songs. Up in the scaffolding they had two guys playing drums and they were really good. Immediately following the show the whole plaza turns into a giant night club with a DJ and that was pretty cool. They keep all the lighting effects on for that. This is definately something very different for CP and it will definately be liked by younger generations. -

We can all rest assured that CP management is aware that they have already removed one family coaster and will be removing another. I wouldn't be "shocked" to see replacements for those in the coming years. -

I'm kind of curious if these Dinosaurs Alivie are permanent attractions or if they'll only be there a few years or so. I myself hope they're only going to be there a few years because I would much rather see a coaster using that land. At the same time I think Dinosaurs alive will be a huge hit with kids. -

I'd also like to see some of the older slides at Soak City replaced or updated. -

Do they even have cables that can snap? Yes there are cables that lift the ride vehicle -

I believe what s happening with Windseeker at Cedar Point is the seats are moving around too much in the air (apparently the seats are hitting into eachother somehow in the air). Did anyone else notice how they're adding what appears to be shock absorbers as a brace to the one at Canada's Wonderland? This may be the problem with CP's and considering how windy it can get by the lake, this could be a ride with a lot down time from wind. -

Eh pretty hit or miss. Depending on the weather and being a new ride year (although it won't be open) it could be busy as the weather is supposed to be very nice here Monday. -

Well I heard some unfortunate news this evening.... Windseeker will not be open this weekend. Whatever is wrong with it must be fairly substantial because my source said we'll be lucky if it's opened by the 4th of July. On a more positive note I heard maXair may be ready this weekend. -

Very cool! I am a Formula 1 fan ad a huge car nut so I'm sure I'd find all the racing movies and car museums quite interesting! Thanks for posting -

The beach entrance and jet ski rentals will remain. Only Ocean Motion is being dismantled and removed. -

I'm sure if I went to park op and complained they would've, however I didn't bother. I've been on STR before, but my out of town friends hadn't. Oh well they'll try again next year I guess. -

^ Agreed. I was there this past Saturday with friends from Michigan and both times we got in line, paid the $2 each time for a l-o-c-k-e-r, and each time it broke down. I'm SOOO glad they are going to be revamping the drive system and station this offseason because this is beyond ridiculous. -

I've been on the last weekend with the exception of Halloween day and the crowd varies. The final Sunday is usually not all that busy. Keep in mind the park has shorter hours the Friday and Sunday, but overall crowds aren't bad at all. -

I know I'm employed there too! Head North on Hayes Ave (Route 4) and just before the Perkins Ave intersection look to your left. -

Yes the weather here can change very suddenly. Apparently a tornado did touch down south of Port Clinton and moved towards Bellevue. Whats funny is almost as sudden as it all started, after about an hour it had all stopped and was dead silent outside. -

I don't understand the negativity from a lot of people on STR that haven't even rode it. I've been on it and I had a blast. Now with that said I came to the park in a bathing suit and had dry clothes in a bin with a lock on it ( ) so I was prepared to get wet and be wet. And yes you do get soaked! The only thing that is disappinting about it is the downtime imo....... LOCKERS! -

I wouldn't want to see Ocean Motion put anywhere away from water. Otherwise it just seems dumb. -

I disagree if he's just going to party he can spend the day at CP then take the boat over to PIB. I took the 6pm boat over when I went for mine and had plenty of time to get trashed and have a good time.
