  1. I'd hate to see the loss of Thunderhawk just on classic principal. I'd much rather see a park put some work into a ride like that than simply do away with it. I've still never quite forgiven Dorney for removing Hercules. The Comet at Hersheypark is still quite old, but maintains great popularity with park goers. As for the roughness of Thunderhawk, it's mixed. I've been to Dorney three times this year. The first two times, I was extremely displeased with the ride and thought it was extremely rough. (Seated in the same position) Last month, I had the opportunity to take part in a commercial shoot for CF/Dorney at the park and I thought it was running good, if not great. As with all wood coasters, there are many factors that go into making each individual ride enjoyable or miserable.
  2. I was at the park on Thursday and was able to do RERIDES on Fahrenheit. It was a walk on. All depends on what day you go, though.
  3. FOR SURE. I've done Scorpion's Tail this year, and fortunately picked a good day. Walked on several times, although I was told there can be up to a 2 hour wait. Standing in that "phone booth" waiting to be dropped is intense!

  5. Arnolds had a Toboggan up until 1998. Outdated map?
  6. Thanks for the response. I'm doing all the parks in the midwest on this tour and VF! has the most credits, so I figured I'd check.
  7. I was fortunate to get to slide Scorpion's Tail last month as a WALK ON! Took several drops in my 2 hour visit to the park...even got on every other slide in the place. NO one there on a Saturday in June!
  8. Can anyone tell me how crowded Valleyfair! generally is in the second week of August (mid-week?) Is 5 hours enough time to get all the credits and ENJOY the park?
  9. I'm going to GAdv tomorrow myself. Not terribly excited about it, but I have several reasons for it. I too am worried about the crowds tomorrow due to the concert. I actually paid for the concert ticket ($20) since I have a Season Pass and wouldn't mind checking it out briefly (just want to see Simple Plan!) but I also need a credit or two at the park. I'm hoping that once the concert starts, lines will clear out. Who knows though.
  10. Apparently there was another fire at the park last week. Reports are that the Kiddieland rest rooms were burned down. The guys working on the Blue Streak reportedly spotted the fire, and took a garden hose to the carousel building to protect it until firefighters arrived.
  11. I guess I was right the first time. Totally closed up.
  12. Did a search on this on the forums and nothing returned... http://www.gobananasfun.com/index.php/Arlington-Heights/Arlington-Heights-is-CLOSED Anyone know how long they've been closed and if the coaster was relocated?
  13. Bump for anyone who can help me with info for this park. In addition to still wondering about my inquiry for X Coaster, how are the crowds at this park in July? How long would it take to get through this park? I know attendance has gone down due to the park's previous [mis]management, but just curious if anyone is local and can provide an update.
  14. Does anyone have an update on X Coaster? It's past Memorial Day and I'm curious if they met their goal of reopening. I may plan a trip to this park next month (since it seems they are always struggling) and would of course prefer all the coasters to be running.
  15. Thanks for the tip on R&B. Are you sure they have a credit? (I know they have a simulator) I will have literally about 5 hours between flights in Seattle and want to get the credits at Wild Waves. Don't care about the water park. Just want to know if this is going to be doable or dangerous!
  16. Thanks for your quick reply! I will whore myself for all 4 credits for sure. I have done every coaster in Vancouver, Washington, and Oregon with the exception of Wild Waves. I am flying to Spokane to do Silverwood and figure I will try to sneak Wild Waves in. It looks like I might get to Seattle Airport around 11AM and would drive to WW. (30 minutes?) I'd like to be out of WW by 5PM. What are Sunday crowds like in July?
  17. I am planning my first ever trip to Wild Waves (from Silverwood) in July. I think it's looking like it might be best for me to fly from Spokane to Seattle early in the morning and then do Wild Waves from mid-day to close. Are the renovations all complete and are all 4 coaster open? Is this park doable within 4 hours?
  18. Today was the day to go! I was checking in here about the crowds on Friday and yesterday so I was skeptical, but I figured Easter might be different. I did Six Flags GADv last year on Easter which was brutally cold; this year was quite different at Hershey with temps in the high 70s throughout the afternoon. Storm Runner was a WALK ON for most of the afternoon, and a wait for Fahrenheit was around 15 minutes. Wildcat and Lightning Racer were not even running full trains. Towards the end of the afternoon, crowds were building up, but nothing unbearable as others reported. Longest wait of the day at absolutely peak times would have been about 30 minutes for any given coaster, although most were less than 10 or walk ons.
  19. Thanks for the tip on the zoo!!! beyondtheplace -- Replied to your PM.
  20. Thanks for the help so far. Does anyone know the official answer for FL residents buying tickets for guests? My friend will actually be with me so it's not as if she's just forking them over to me. Are all these parks doable in short time this time of year? Anyone know about the status of the coaster at Zoomers?
  21. I've just found out that I'm being sent to Florida for business and will have some leisure time. I have a basic itinerary planned and am looking for suggestions. Additionally, the Orlando parks (as we know) can quickly add up $$$ and I want to make sure I'm not missing out on any ticket specials or packages. Any help is appreciated. I arrive in MCO on Monday early afternoon. I plan to get to Birthday World as soon as I land, then off to the Disney Parks with a hopper. Hopefully I can also squeeze in Old Town before they close at 11PM. Tuesday's plan is Sea World, and both Universal Parks. (Which first?) Tuesday night I will be driving to Tampa to stay. I will be able to hit BG sometime between Wednesday and Friday. Also plan to get to Celebration Station. Saturday I drive down the west coast and will stop at Kidstar Park, King Richard's, and then over to Uncle Bernie's and Boomers. (What about Zoomers?) Ticket options are my biggest concern. I don't want to double up or spend more than necessary. The Orlando Flex Ticket Plus would give me Sea World, Universal x 2, and Busch Gardens for $299. Is this the best idea? I also have a friend who is FL resident. Are they able to purchase tickets for guests? Thanks much for the help...sorry for posting a last minute plan!
