  1. Very nice. Abandoned theme parks are a bit of an obsession of mine, so I always like to see more. If you want CREEPY, go look at these pictures of Heritage USA as it was a year or two ago (before they knocked down the waterpark and started restoring the buildings). www.illicitohio.com/SBNO/heritage/heritage01.html
  2. On a COMPLETELY unrelated note..... kayoss, do you by any chance play Eve Online?
  3. Any idea why Jeepers closed down?
  4. Never. Ever. Unless, of course, somebody offers me a thousand bucks. Then I might consider it.
  5. Not trying to be a jerk, but if you want people to take you seriously, please use correct capitalization, punctuation, and leave the leet speak at the door. Oh, and exclamation points have more effect if used sparingly.
  6. Looking back on what S&S has been doing, I'm honestly not that surprised. The company rose on the popularity of their drop towers, but sales of those dropped off after a few years because unlike roller coasters, each park only wants one tower/drop ride. The space shot rides have been plagued with problems, and many of their innovations (air launched coasters, and more recently the flyswatter and screamin squirrel) never took off. Yeah, they probably made a decent profit off Ej, but a company can't float on a single installation and the sale of Ej probably didn't even repay what they spent aquiring arrow, considering the fact that they don't seem to have built any other rides off the assets from that purchase. The screaming swings are slowly taking off, but they're not appearing to be the super hits that the drop towers were and from what pdon says they haven't been getting paid reliably for the rides they have put up.
  7. Fibonacci Sequence. Look it up on Google. 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, ect..... And yes, it does apply in real mathematics, and is used in the design of coasters, buildings, bridges, and many other marvels of human engineering. I'm very interested to see if it applies to Knex coasters however, because the track and trains in no way behave like real coasters, mostly due to friction (or in some situations, the lack thereof due to the not-to-scale mass of the trains). I'll follow this though, and I'd really like to see some pics of that Kingda Ka model.
  8. The way I see it, Six Flags is screwed either way. They aren't going to be able to back out for 10 million (probably more like 30 to 50 million, due to the fact that the city of New Orleans will be responsible for the outstanding loan of 20+ million from HUD), but they also won't be able to economically reopen the park and make it profitable, at least not within the next decade. The park will probably be viable again in 10 to 15 years, once New Orleans rebuilds (assuming they don't get hit by another large storm), but as the article pointed out, there's no market right now. Heck, I bet that the park couldn't even break even for 5 years if it reopened in '07.
  9. Is the pipe band organ functional on that carousel? I know the organ in balboa park is never used anymore, unfortunately......
