Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

Where in NY will you be staying? Actually won't be staying in NYC but we're planning at least one day trip there. I'll be in the Philly area for the bulk of my trip. I see my fellow New Yorker already beat me too it but yes all those places he listed are the top pizza places in NYC. -

Remember kids, always proof read. (Yes I say this often as a teacher) -
People seem to love it or hate it based on their rides on it. I always recommend that you're in the front car as I believe it was designed for single car trains and not the trailered ones. I've always had really enjoyable rides on it in the front and I hate rough rides. You also could have caught a train that was about to go in for maintenance. Throw me in the category of those who loved it. Rode it about a dozen times during my stay there.

You do realize you skipped the best ride in the park? Part of me likes most folks not being aware of the amazing, far superior back car rides on this beast, but why oh why does anyone wait for the front row on El Toro? It's truly baffling to me. It always has SUCH a long long wait but just WHY. Golden Rule of Toro: Once you go back you never go back. Its actually an amazing ride in the front row. Is it always worth the wait when you can get a better experience in the back rows? No. But that doesn't mean you totally disregard the front. I had one of my best rides ever last week riding shotgun and thats saying a lot since I've been riding it many many times a year since 06.

One day Dorney will be more popular than all other Cedar Fair parks COMBINED... ...not really... Yea in the year 2346 when we're long gone and Cedar Fair decides to re-do the entrance ala Cedar Point and Carowinds. Even then the park will recieve only a Tradional Giga when all the other parks are getting levitating magnet coasters.

Sorry for the double post but I was thinking about the ride description these past few days.... When it says attack or defend the village, does anyone think we could see a duel station with one train facing forwards and one facing backwards? Or maybe a train with half the cars facing forward and half backwards?

I really thought Laff Track was well done. Although it doesn't spin much (which I don't mind) it was fun and I had a good laugh. -
I accompanied Genx24 today so basically everything he said about the trip I agree with. Although I did have one of my best rides ever on El Toro today. Raining, front row...Wow it was HAULING. I think it had to do with the temperature being pretty warm still even though it was raining. The rain hitting my face combined with the hood from my sweater going over my head it made for a disorienting ride. Nick didn't ride with me that time but he said he heard my cackling from the midway during that ride. Anyway here are a few pictures: Joker from Main Street (I know we're all getting sick of this picture) Standard photo op. Ghost Town. Got double dips on this. For moment he was pacing back and fourth and it was getting me nervous since I was the closest target. More Joker. Batman doing its thing as usual. Nitro. Some more clearance by Chiller.

Why? It's stupidly simple, and it works. I'm actually thrilled that it's a set of Rocky Mountain trains that ISN'T covered in wood-look trim, or iron-look trim, or some weird thematic element. It's a coaster, it's not trying to be anything else. I never said it didn't work. I just said I was expecting trains along the lines of Wicked Cyclone is all, and thats because they have similar theme.

A B&M terrain Invert for this park would surely be a winner. I think a highly themed smaller dive machine like Baron would worked well too. -
