  1. MF is overrated but definitely a more comfortable ride now so it has staying power in rankings while Superman has slipped. Superman won most head to heads between about 2003 and when it got bizarro'd. MF is probably the 3rd or 4th best coaster at CP now which is amazing because it is a great coaster.
  2. Got to the park for a 3 day stay this afternoon. Had dinner at Melt...fantastic food and atmosphere and really not bad price wise considering the quality and quantity of food. Good beer selection also. Started riding around 7:30. Wicked Twister was a walk on so hit that quickly...still a fun ride and love the setting. Headed over for my first Gatekeeper ride...30 mins for back left. Wasn't the biggest fan...kind of jerky and just flowed kind of weird but fun anyway. B&M's true masterpiece next door followed which was about a 45 minute wait (the main Midway at night idea didn't work to plan tonight) and crazy as ever. 2nd half was nuts... almost neck snapping quick tonight. Skyrided it over to MF...just over 45 minutes to get a ride in front. Only a 4 train wait for the front, never seen that before. Bugs weren't as bad on the ride as I remember them from previous trips but they are absolute hell elsewhere in the park. It was pushing 10:30 and the time had come to finally hit Steel Vengeance for the first time. Only 4 switchbacks filled and the attendant said under an hour wait. But after 2 breakdowns and what turned into 1 train operation, got on around 12:15. Never ridden anything like it. Far and away new #1 coaster and nothing else comes close. The fact that it's as long as it is and throws feature after feature at you right to the end just blows anything else away. Back at it tomorrow. Thursday looks wet...hopefully not too bad so we can get some rides in.
  3. Currently eating pierogis so turned out to be a pretty good day.
  4. Postponing my day at knoebels to next week...worth an extra 5 hour trip to go back on a nicer day. Tickets only today...imagine they won't be open long. Good news is my audible for the day is stopping at Quassy for the first time. New credit!
  5. Was supposed to begin a week long trip with a day at knoebels today. That radar looks...oh boy. Not moving either. Lots of flash floods warnings in eastern PA.
  6. Alright...I was excited to finally get to ride Steel Vengeance next week but I might actually be more excited for this. Getting a stomach ache just looking at it but wow.
  7. This thread got me pretty pumped for my Knoebels/CP/Hershey trip next week. Been a long time since I've ridden some of these but here goes... 1. Skyrush 2. Superman (SFNE) 3. Nitro 4. Phantoms Revenge 5. Apollo's Chariot 6. Magnum 7. Superman (SFA&DL) 9. Steel Force
  8. But the ride that's completely dismantled and probably on its way to the Big E is just "temporarily closed". Ok... Also when I was there last week seemed like nearly half of the food kiosks were closed. And long lines at the ones that were open. Sad that a park with 2 of the best coasters on the planet is so close yet I can't even bear to go there more than a couple times a season because it's just not fun to go there anymore. There isn't a thing to do in that park that doesn't end up somehow becoming a big hassle. What I'd give to have Knoebels there instead...
  9. Typhoon was down to 1 raft? Shouldn't it have like 12 or something? Lol
  10. I got a ride in on Harley Quinn shortly after a breakdown on Tuesday afternoon, but just after I rode it went down for what ended up being the rest of the night. Not sure what was up. They tested it a few times before giving up. Also noticed a ladder underneath Crime Wave so something might be up with that too.
  11. I was going to mention that it would only be four close airtime hills, but then if you throw in the Brett Hull "No goal" game in the Sabres/Stars Stanley Cup Finals, then you would get five "close to airtime hills." Seriously, this is a great fit for this park and city. I'm on the "Despise the Steelers" bandwagon as well, but it will draw in TONS of fans not only from the city, but from around the country. I just wonder how long Jerruh Jones will take to want a Cowboys themed land at SFOT, or Robert Kraft wanting Tom Brady Land at SFNE? Okay, I think that I just threw up in my mouth a little... Back in the Snyder days, when SFNE tore down the Batman Stunt Show they put in a mini football field with a.......Redskins logo. I get that he owns the Skins but come on...
  12. Glad to hear that...booked a room there in August. I usually tend to radiate towards Super 8's if I'm looking for a quick overnight stop and haven't struck out as often there as I have at Econolodges or Motel 6's. Another good Super 8 is the one up the street from your favorite now defunct park in Altoona.
  13. The last few times I've been to Hershey have all been weekends and it works great. Buy a ticket for Sunday and you have 3 1/2 hours for preview Saturday. Not to mention the last couple times I've been they've kept rides near the center open an extra 30+ mins (including Fahrenheit) so that's even more of a bonus. I find the crowds to be surprisingly manageable on Saturday nights there. Skyrush will have a big line but LR, Wildcat, SDL all very short lines and even Storm Runner was a walk on last time I was there.
  14. Went to the park for a few hours this afternoon. Mild temperatures and the first dry weekend in quite some time brought in a large crowd. Parked 2/3rds of the way back in lot 3 at 2pm. Only running 2 trams for a parking lot that was nearly 100% full was causing a decent sized line to build up so walked to the park (only 1 tram went past while I was walking). 3 more were sitting dormant off to the side. Hope they start using them all as we get into the summer. Started off trying to find a place that had a decently short line for lunch. Rivi's was mobbed, Johnny Rocket's was out the door, so settled for Fast Eddies which didn't have a huge line but only 1 register working and not very quickly. South End/Rockville was a sea of people heading to the waterpark and Harley Quinn so decided to head to the North End to start. 30 minute wait each for Skyscreamer and Wicked Cyclone. Forget which train I rode in but the back car was very loud today. Felt like it was subtly scrubbing a little bit of speed leading to some epic hang time on the last zero g roll. Headed back south as Queue Times was showing only a 25 minute wait for Harley Quinn but when I got there the queue was full and based on the reports I've read so far about slow load times had to imagine the wait was a lot more than 25 minutes. Got a ride on the Joker while I was in the area, just a 5 minute wait and a crazy first half of the ride but modest 2nd half with no flipping. Went for Superman next which had what may have been the shortest line in the entire park. Barely out of the station, so got 2 rides (back and 2nd row) in a matter of 20 minutes. First time on it this year, definitely getting more bumpy in its old age but still a fantastic ride. Headed out after that. First rides on Harley Quinn will have to wait for another day, but looks fantastic in action.
  15. Unfortunately this cold is just unprecedented. I've never seen a stretch of single digit temps last this long here midwinter nevermind in December. Im sure the park was ready for a frigid day or two but nothing like this ever lasts for weeks like this around here. Bummed I never made it out for Christmas as I really wanted to see it. Based on the reports of good crowds early on I'm sure it'll absolutely be back next year and maybe we'll have temps back to average (or maybe even 70 on Christmas like 2 years ago lol).
  16. They should double down on this and allow ice skating on the wave pool
  17. Is there room at Spiders old pad to move the teacups over there? It's pretty much been unused/a smaller smoking area.
  18. Reminds me of being at CP about 10 years ago in line for TTD. They have the split station...I was waiting for the front row for the first train. Instead of splitting exit groups between the two stations they kept sending people to the first station. They held the front row 3 times while I was in line for it and the ride ended up going down for 2 hours when I was 2 trains away from boarding. I sat there and waited but it put a very sour taste in my mouth that I would've made it before the breakdown otherwise, and likely also would've made it if they split groups between the two stations. When I was at Superman Sunday the only exit group I saw come up while I was in the station got put in the middle of the train.
  19. Yeah pretty sure the only place I heard of it was on their FB page. I feel like a lot of people in the park don't even notice it's going on.
  20. Anyone else check out the food and brew festival? Pretty good deals by six flags standards and some of the food is actually pretty good. Huge beer variety although some of the kegs are getting warm today.
  21. Anyone know what this "Goliath announcement" in 2 weeks is about? Tearing down Goliath and putting in a Log Flume maybe? Lol
  22. I got to the park at about 8pm Saturday...started off with comet but noted that skyrush was sending one of its trains out empty every time and loading the other one. I went to ride it next and they had removed one train. The train they were running had over a quarter of the seats roped off in random spots and the ride ops were having trouble putting the right amount of people in each row. The line only had 3 switchbacks filled but still took over 45 minutes due to running with only one partially filled train. Didn't go back into that area Sunday so don't know what happened beyond that.
  23. That picture is the #1 reason of many why I decided not to get a season pass this year for the first time in 15 years. That station was fine the way it was since 2000, why change it? Two of the best steel coasters in the world are within an hour of me yet the poor management and choices of the park have made me hate going there so much that it's not even worth sucking it up to ride them anymore. I'm looking forward to visiting 6 different parks in PA this summer as well as hopefully getting back to Lake Compounce, but other than maybe a trip during frightfest, I'm done putting up with their crap.
  24. Best case scenario is MF style headrests. Worst case would be TTD style which really aren't all that different from the old Bizarro headrests.
  25. It still blows my mind that a coaster can be voted the #1 steel coaster in the world for three straight years and for some reason the park decided to change it. I'm holding out hope that the new trains will be similar to the old ones, but with MA banning T-bar restraints hopefully they can find a good alternative.
