TPR Front Page RE-Design Contest!
sspaz1000 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I want David's and Jack's layouts to have a baby. Or multiple babies. I think those two should be working together trying different elements of each others layouts and working on the best hybrid. I can't even say, what I like about each anymore, I just like them overall and they fit what TPR is, and is new yet familiar. -

^^^ loving it as well. Can you do the TPR with the white outline like it's currently? I think the white around theme park review would look better with the sleeker design. -

Yes, that four letter word that begins with S is evil. That food looks really good -

^ I didn't know where it came from either, lol. I still like iloverides design the best, but there are some things from other entries that I like as well. I like that park of the day thing on one of the entries on page 28. -

^Just a quick thought. On a couple of those, why is Random Stuff above announcements? It's been talked about before that Announcements are more important than random stuff. But I would also encourage you to go back and read a lot of the previous comments on this thread, as a lot of feedback and suggestions on what is liked and not liked has been given already. -

A.J., When I view items on my iPad, the ads don't show up. It's like they are there when the page is loading, and then after the page fully loads they are gone. Don't know if anyone else experiences that, but I noticed that today when looking at the forum. -

Why is everyone creative when I go to bed? So far I think davids (iloverides) is the best. Any version. On my iPad I can't see the subtle differences that well to definitively decide which version like best. Though what dkr just did is also pretty cool. What I like most about that is the username and log in fields at the top under the tabs. -

Like the slimmer glossy look Angry_Gumballs. Now if you were to add a drop-down to your design, what would it look like? I mean colors, horizontal/vertical, etc. And for fun, what would the bottom of your page look like with the disclaimer and stuff? -

Liking it a lot Angry_Gumballs. The glossy nav bar version. -

Young, I like the idea of hovering over an image and the description appears, and I like the Facebook feed. Everything else just seems a little unpolished. First instinct was it's a step back in comparison to some of the other entries that were done today. I see lots of potential with it, but it's not there yet. I hope I'm not sounding too harsh. I just want you to tap into that potential I can see is there. -

http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=61554&start=150#p1133915 So far, I like Angry_Gumball's one listed here, but I'd like to see AlmereStars drop-down menu as shown here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=61554&start=170#p1134029 on Angry_Gumball's layout. Can anyone try this just to see what it would look like? (using the colors of Angry_Gumballs's nav bar) It seems like people are just trying to fix their own designs even when it's been suggested to combine some elements from a few designs. -

Wow a few more pages than what I went to bed with, but I'm agreeing with Elissa here. A hybrid of those two's submissions I think would be an awesome layout. Also someone mentioned widescreen. Even though it's more the norm than not, you still can't alienate the people who use 1024x768 (yes, that's me. I'm not about to go pay a few hundred $ on a new monitor when the one I have works perfectly fine and is flatscreen). I also know that I'm usually on TPR for a couple hours on my iPad everyday, so if something were to have lots of scrolling, I know I wouldn't be using my iPad as much. Just some rambly thoughts for the morning. -

Doug, Switch those two up and see what happens. If it looks really off balance without it being clean columns on the right, then I'm stumped at the moment. Maybe I'll have an epiphany in my sleep It seems familiar yet different to me. Like the logo and the buttons on the top are similar to what is there, but different that it's newer and sleeker. And I think that gives it the familiarity of TPR. -

DKR, I'm liking yours more and more. Doug, Yours is nice, but I agree with the spacing from the poster a couple above me. Also it just seems the right side is really text heavy while the left side isn't. It feels off balance. Please let me know if I'm helping or hurting with these suggestions. Or what can I do to be more specific or anything. -

Could something like Andy's latest design have the drop downs in it, that people seem to be liking from youngforever's design? -

Coaster-Lab, I'm not digging the coasters as the background, but I do like the bottom box with the updates, especially if each part of those boxes could scroll within the box. -

I like DKR's, DougMJr's, and Aidan's. I like the sleek look of Aidans, but I also like the familiarity of DKR's and DougMJR's. Will add more once I see the rest of the posts that have just been added. -

Ok, current text on the homepage. Size seems fine to me but if it gets any bigger, you'll probably start losing some real estate to work with for saying what that update is about. But maybe the issue isn't the font size and white text on the gray background? Also what about something like that had been mentioned with the six flags site with the different stories rotating through? I've always thought that the home page just seemed a bit busy with so many updates. Which I understand with a site of this magnitude that there are a lot of updates that are constantly changing. But I remember first coming to the home page and being a little overwhelmed at all the information there.
