CRAP! Tropical Storm coming right for me!
Louise replied to DenDen's topic in Random, Random, Random
^ You're right about that of course, but I still loved it. My family had a home over there so we'd be there just under half the year and I loved it. Still got friends there and stuff who I really miss. -
^ FYI, Spaced is Simon Pegg's TV series, and Black Books only features him in one episode as a guest, but is another TV show which literally makes me wet myself with laughter almost every episode. You should check em out on imdb.com, enjoy!

Jose, you have the world's most beautiful cat, can I steal it?!?! As for the face-hugger... I'm 20 and I still shake every time I see that thing!! Brrrr!!

Yeah, I always found that weird: English muffins are not from England, and in England are not even referred to as English muffins!! Hmm. Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Virginia are the commonwealths by the way, not that I actually understand the distinction. But California IS a state apparently. Have any Americans here actually ever met anyone who thinks Osama and Saddam are the same person? I realise a certain percentage of the world's population are pretty dumb but... that takes the biscuit if it's true.

I might have to post ten of these a day they're so random... Here's ten random facts about America. Let's see how many of you dispute them... 1. 25% of Americans do not understand the term "holocaust" 2. 62% of American dog owners sign cards/letters from themselves and their dogs, while 33% admit to talking to their dogs by phone while they are away 3. Almost 90% of Americans label themselves as "shy" 4. There are 61 towns in the US with the word "turkey" in their names, but only 4 which contain the word "chicken" (Go on, try and name em all, I dare ya!) 5. There are 293 ways to make change for a dollar (Once again, I dare ya!) 6. One in five Americans does not like sex 7. 12 million Americans do not know their country's capital 8. 20% of Americans do not know that Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein are different people (How the hell is this possible?!?!) 9. The average American eats 28 whole pigs in their lifetime 10. TECHNICALLY, there are only 46 states in the US of A... Guess which four aren't exactly official... And just to prove that the Yellow Pages in America is as truly great as the British version, in 1980 they managed to list a Texan funeral director under "Frozen Foods". Classic! ^ lol, I just noticed your location, how funny! I'm guessing if you like Simon Pegg you've seen Spaced? How do you feel about Black Books? I'm obsessed right now, my friend and I spent half the weekend quoting it at each other. I have Dave's syndrome...

Zoolander was ok but... I still think Stiller in Dodgeball is one of the funniest things I ever saw.

Actually, I really can't criticise you for that cos I kinda have a fondness for Van Damme and he ain't much better! Just love Timecop though!!

CRAP! Tropical Storm coming right for me!

I used to hate those warnings. Even though they almost always came to nothing I had this horrible fear of being stranded if anything happened to the bridge... Man I miss St Petes. Lou- "wants to go back to the US, NOW!!" -ise -
Edit: Double post (again)

I'm not talking great people who've cured diseases, battled persecution, etc etc, more like rock stars and sports stars who you just desperately wanted to be/be with... Mine was Freddie Mercury. He died when I was five and I sat next to my crying mum and watched Queen videos all day and from that day on was OBSESSED!!

^ LOL, Don't Stop Me Now has never sounded the same since!!

Played the piano for years and picked up bass somewhere along the way. Beethoven and Flea are my heroes!

What is your All-Time favorite Video Game?
Louise replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
I love a lot of the old arcade games but as far as sitting on the sofa and playing a console... The first three Sonic games on the Megadrive (Genesis if you're an American) and the Bandicoot games on the Playstation are my faves. -
I Spit On Your Grave totally freaked me out!

Why the hell are all my posts being doubled... Oh crap, think I figured it out. Sorry!

I just got a great new book and it's inspired me to new levels of randomness: How many US states are there? Lou- "wonders whether the answer to this question is really true" -ise

9 things I hate about EVERYONE!!!
Louise replied to Sir Clinksalot's topic in Random, Random, Random
I used to work in a Virgin Megastore and we actually started a clipboard called the StoopidBoard full of the dumb things people come out with. One of the most common was people coming in and saying "can I use HMV vouchers here?" WTF?! Yeah, of course you can use our biggest rivals' gift vouchers here, go right ahead! Dumbasses. Also, people used to come in and say, "have you got that new song by that guy? Y'know, the one with dark hair/a low voice/wearing jeans?" MORE INFORMATION PLEASE!!! People who work in entertainment stores are not psychic!!! -
^lol Yeah, most likely named after where the child was conceived... "Come on in for dinner Cinderblock, Haybale, Pick-Up..."

Smoking banned in public buildings!
Louise replied to CoasterCrazy's topic in Random, Random, Random
Anti-smoking laws are starting to come into force here in the UK now, albeit slowly. My brother-in-law (a pub landlord) received a letter a coupla months back stating that 20% of his pub must be non-smoking by such and such a date along with no smoking in food serving areas (irrelevant as his pub doesn't serve food) or at the bar. Personally, I think this is the way to do it: I smoke, as do around 50% of the regulars in my local boozer, but I'm a considerate smoker - i don't light up if anyone is eating, has health problems, or generally if they ask me not to because it bothers them. As much as I agree it's a pretty bad habit, it's my choice, and as long as I'm not affecting anyone else with it, I have the right to do so. I agree that smoking should be banned in public buildings such as malls, and in places where food is served, but in pubs and bars... Over here in England where pub culture is a huge part of many peoples' lives, and smoking is extremely common among regular pubgoers in many areas... I think it would be very difficult to bring in a complete ban. Smoking and non-smoking sections are probably the way to go in pubs over here, as long as the areas are well divided and ventilated obviously, otherwise it's pointless. Other Brits may know what I mean when I say JD Wetherspoon's do it pretty well. Let the smoker-bashing begin, I'm sure... Lou- "has a nasty little habit" -ise -
Because I think it's probably not very nice to laugh at a child who's somehow been unfortunate enough to be hit by a cinderblock immediately after being born. Admittedly it's fictional though. At least I hope so, can't imagine anyone would actually name their child Cinderblock!
