CoasterDynamix on the show HOUSE
Jack Rimer replied to DLDude's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
There are many types of "potential customers". There are those who are curious about our products and visit our site to find out information about what we offer. Then there are those who SAY they are potential customers only to tell you they no longer are because you were rude or insulting. If you did not find the Diamondback model intriguing, and that is one of our best efforts, I surely doubt you were serious about one of our smaller models to purchase. Please don't give me the "disappointed potential customer" song and dance. You have no interest in our products and never did. Perhaps before you pass judgement on whether I am an A$$ or not, you should ask about how we handle customer service or what steps we take to bend over backwards to keep our customers happy. The countless hours I spend on the phone and writing emails helping people with their purchases shows that I do, in fact, care. By the way, the speed of the models is not a customer service issue, contrary to what you say. It is a physics issue. If the speed of the models bothers you, simply don't buy it. I have never had a person call us and complain that they need customer service support because their model runs too fast. -
CoasterDynamix on the show HOUSE

You know, I thought my comment about scaling gravity was meant to be humorous, not condescending. The comment you made about Diamondback being "too fast to even enjoy watching", however, was absurd. Fortunately, the countless positive comments we receive about that model reaffirm that we are doing something right. Not to mention the endorsement of the park and Cedar Fair's continued desire to use our models to showcase new rides (Intimidator 305). If our models are so unrealistic that you can't bear to watch them, so be it. We will simply be content with comments from people such as Walter Bolliger, Jack Falfas, and Dick Kinzel who have used words like "Amazingly accurate" and "Incredible recreation" to describe them. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I simply value some opinions more than others. I understand that not everyone gets the whole "scaling gravity" concept. My point is a person can't profess to be an aspiring coaster designer if he doesn't even grasp the most basic concepts of physics. -

CoasterDynamix on the show HOUSE
Jack Rimer replied to DLDude's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Have you ever seen one in person or just a video? We are currently working on a way to miniaturize the effects of gravity on an object, but nature does not seem to want to cooperate. So far...... -
CoasterDynamix is thrilled to announce that our newest kit, the Phoenix, is in stock and ready to ship! The Phoenix is the culmination of six years of model roller coaster evolution. Building a working roller coaster model using our award winning system has never been easier. A combination of both flexible and rigid molded roller coaster track come together seamlessly to create a realistic working model that is both quick to assemble and reliable in operation. Flight Deck Model
Jack Rimer replied to mejaybe's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I'm surprised at how many people think it still costs $500 to get into CoasterDynamix. The Scorpion is $199 and sells online for as low as $139. The new Phoenix will retail for $150. We will be selling models of Griffon and Sheikra through the parks for $100 and our Sidewinder launch kit will retail for $30! We still have the Dragon if you want to spend $500, but you can get started for much less. -
Roller Coaster Model HQ help
Jack Rimer replied to MASH80554077's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Yeah, not sure how much "shining" I can do. LOL I will try to find a number for you. We have never had a problem with these guys, but we are the supplier not a consumer. If something was damaged in transit, it really will need to be taken up with the shipping company. Keep me informed about how this works out. -
I know this sounds a little harsh, but building a scratch built roller coaster model requires a lot of skill and some modelling experience. If you can't find a board to build it on (easiest part), how do you expect to build the actual model? Man, I wish you all the luck in the world and hope it happens, but seriously.....

Sheikra and Kumba Statix
Jack Rimer replied to Jack Rimer's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Here is the reasoning behind this: When we originally made the molds for the Griffon Statix, we approached BGT about Sheikra. We said we could have the molds so the 1st and 10th seat were gated off, thus giving an 8 across. This is more expensive to do so we needed a guarantee that we would receive an order. They had no interest in any Statix at the time. Fast forward one year and given the success BGE has had with them, they now want to stock them. Of course, they want 8 across. We tell them that it is too late, but we can do 10 across. If they sell well, we will maybe consider a new mold, but the numbers would have to justify it. The funny thing is, when we showed them these pictures, they loved the Sheikra, but thought the Kumba track didn't look good! I suppose everyone has their own thing that bothers them about these models. Remember, they are SOUVENIRS not scale replicas. We do our best, but there are practical limitations we have to consider. Personally, I am not sure the GP will even notice. I have seen shirts for sale that show Alpengeist trains on Loch Ness Monster track and they sell them just fine. This is a minor detail that only enthusiasts would care about. Besides, if they order more and we do make them 8 across, these will be MAJOR collectors items. -
Yes, but we have put all inverted Statix on hold right now. We need to redesign them so we can manufacture them for less money and have them travel without coming apart. There are 182 pcs on an inverted train! ....About one third of that on these new ones. Once we redesign them, we will revisit the Merlin option.

Here are some pics of the pre-production Maverick trains from our forum. We also have Top Thrill Statix coming. These will be in the park in early August. You can look on the previous page in our forum for pics of the Canonball from Lake Winnie too. http://coasterdynamix.com/forum.aspx?mode=thread&TopicID=1017&page=13

CoasterDynamix Phoenix video
Jack Rimer replied to Jack Rimer's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ummmm, not yet. The site went down on its own. LOL. Not sure why. Sorry. -
Yeah, I respect ANY coaster model. Roller coasters are inherintly difficult to recreate in miniature. There are not many models out there so when I see one, I find it intriguing. A lot of the guys who used to build coaster models no longer do it (Chris Brewer and Chris Gray for instance). Fortunately, there are enough videos and pictures on the internet of model coasters that you can use them as a good reference. When I was 12 and trying to build a working Kennywood Thunderbolt model out of N gauge railroad track, I was just winging it. Consequently, it never worked.

The people on CoasterSims tore the model apart? What a surprise! (sarcasm). I think your models are great. We get torn apart too (CoasterDynamix) on enthusiast sites. As an enthusiast and model builder, you are well aware of where your models deviate from the real rides and you don't need a bunch of know-it-alls telling you. At least you follwed through on building a model. Most people like to talk about what they would build, name their coaster, then never do anything of substance. Keep building and take solace in the fact that there are people who understand the work and dedication needed to tackle such an ambitious project.
