Nice to see some pics of the opening ceremony. I've been on site with my company the last few months getting the motorized rigging and pit lift systems commissioned. Fun(?) facts about the rigging in the Disney theater... Each of the battens are 66 feet long. The proscenium opening is 50 feet wide by 32 feet high and the stage is 50 feet deep. The distance from the stage floor to the bottom of the grid iron is 81 feet. The main curtain is a motorized winch assist that can travel up to 360 feet per minute.

TPR New Front Page In Development!
StraX22 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Option 2 solely based on page load times. If option 1 would load faster, that is the one I'd go with. I'm not sure if it has to do with extra plugins related to the twitter feed or what, but it almost seems like something is broken while waiting for it to load. Using latest version of Firefox. -
Hi there, my first post here but probably not my last. Figured I'd start out with a good standby, and follow up with a limited brew. Shiner Bock, my fav. Shiner 98, it's alright, reminds me a bit of Sam Adams. I liked Shiner 97 better.

Want to work in the game (pinball) industry?

That's a pretty amazing opportunity! Kind of makes me pine for the days when you had to squeeze every available cycle out of an overloaded 8-bit processor and obsolete synth chip they should have discontinued a long time ago. -
P&S - Sony Cyber-shot 3.2mp Film - Canon EOS Rebel S Moving Pictures - Panasonic PV-DV953 The only thing I don't like about the 953 is the cruddy low-light performance. 3CCD Goodness

I've only been on 29 coasters, so I'm not too versed. Though I have ridden Manhattan Express and I didn't think it was that rough. For me it was riding in the back seat on Rattler at SFFT a few years ago. I seriously thought I was going to have brain damage from all the rattling. Nowadays that ride is just slow and pointless which is probably for the better.

What is the best concert you have ever been to?
StraX22 replied to SonOfBeastSucks's topic in Random, Random, Random
The time I saw the Misfits at Fitzgerald's in Houston. We showed up about 5 hours early and were able to just walk right in and watch them rehearsing, we got a couple of photos. Then we just hung out with some guys from another band called Flatus, they played a bad ass cover of Toto's Africa. During the actual Misfits performance, people were stage diving off the balconies, and they played an amazing cover of Led Zepplin's Immigrant song. Other notable concerts have been Radiohead on their OK Computer tour, Tool on their Ænima tour, and Iron Maiden. Then again, the smaller club type shows are always a rockin' time. -
What is your local park?
StraX22 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My local park used to be Six Flags Astroworld before it met it's demise, at least I had a chance to attend the park on it's last day. Since I now live in San Antonio, my local park is Six Flags Fiesta Texas. I'm about 3 miles from the front gate! -
If we hit that bull's eye the rest of the dominoes will fall like a deck of cards. Checkmate!

The name is Mason; originally from the Houston Texas area, I now reside in San Antonio Texas. In fact, I live 5 miles from the front gate of SFFT! I'm extremely new to this particular site and board but I like it so much I just had to register. I love me some coasters and just about any other ride. I have a great deal of interest in park history and the history of the amusement business in general. I am currently employed in the amusement industry (mainly themed entertainment) specializing in show control. I'm also into 80's turbo cars, DIY HiFi gear, movies, arcade game restoration, and about a million other hobbies that rotate with the seasons. I am a notorious lurker when it comes to the internet, but I try to contribute when I feel I have something worthwhile to say.
