  1. Well from what people have seen, SFA is making money right now. Again, we just got the biggest Thomas Land in the chain. If were weren't making money the company would have sold us a while ago. I'm still reading up on this Cedar Fair and Six Flags merger. I do also agree with a recent post, stating that "if Apollo cannot get Cedar Fair, they will buy Six Flags Inc". My question is will the current management stay under Apollo being the owner. And what kinds of things will Apollo do for the parks?
  2. I gotta say I really like your prediction. But what kind of plan will Apallo set for Six Flags parks. Will they set their own board of team members to run the company or will they keep the current board of directory in there? Again, I really want Cedar to take over Six Flags parks. Just not sure which parks they will keep. My guess is that they will keep the ones that are making money right now. So of course, SFOT, SFMM, SFGadv, SFOG, and a few others possibly. I take it that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is doing well. I'm not even sure about my Six Flags America, with it being my home park. With Thomas Land being built at SFA and being the biggest one in the chain, I take it we are making enough money for the company to still have us. Remember they sold some parks when they first came in and SFKK just got sold. People rumored for a long time that SFA was on the chopping block, but we are still here. Cedar Fair could improve a few other smaller SF parks. Again maintenance has always been an issue for Six Flags. Cedar could solve that problem easily. And I think the parks need more thrill attractions anyways. Or atleast start a every other year kind of plan. So one year the parks get family stuff and then the next year they get a thrill ride. Keep it even and fair to both crowds to visit the park.
  3. I do agree. For Kings Dominion being owned by Cedar Fair, Six Flags America will be a rival that is 2 hours away. Currently Six Flags America does not post any threat against Kings Dominion, going on 9 years of dry seasons from getting no coasters. That and it's 2 hours away so maybe Cedar Fair will be willing to work with it and build it up. The park has a lot of land and great potential. One could only hope that Cedar would build it into a super park just like Kings Dominion. As for the other parks, I am also speculating how this merge will effect them. This is what I think will happen if Cedar Fair attempts to close most of the smaller parks. If they do that, most of the towns will complain just like New Orleans did with Six Flags Inc getting free from their land deal. Most towns will use that as an example, and post all the negative effects that the town will experience of local parks like SFSL, SFGA, SFA, and SFOG close. If Six Flags Inc has any current land lease contracts from when the parks were first purchased by the old SF corporate management, then Cedar Fair will be buying into those contracts if they merge with Six Flags Inc. This conversation is getting interesting.
  4. I agree. I like how Cedar Fair does things. And If they merge I think the current Six Flags management will be booted out and Cedar Fair will now run the show, which is what I'm hoping for. I always thought that Cedar ran better parks than Six Flags Inc. As for Warner staying, I could care less. The company did not really use Warner Bros to their highest ability. There are so many movies that they could have used to make rides. Not only that but D.C. Comics is very hard to get licensing agreements from. Cedar would bring newer elements to the park. Fright Fest would also be a lot better. Just look at what they did for Kings Dominion. They had at least eight haunted houses and they were all free. Good quality for for season events are what a lot of the parks need. Being family friendly is good, but the parks still need go thrills, chills, and spills if they want to improve. I could also see a lot of the smaller parks improving under Cedar Fair's management. Advertisements, maintenance, friendly park staff, and better operation hours are what I am looking for under a Cedar Fair management. Any thoughts on which Six Flags parks may be sold under Cedar Fair and which parks will be improved?
  5. Well according to this, the already started the fight for the company. From the looks of it, the fight my prevent the company from emerging from bankruptcy. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5i6VgwVIA3nGQWssTrs5b3dsgvyjwD9EAOAFO2 http://dealbook.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/03/09/six-flags-c-f-o-takes-stand-in-ch-11-battle/ * According to this article, there were numerous investors that were interested in the company. One of them struck my eye like a lighting bolt. (Apollo Management) was one of the companies that were interested in Six Flags. They also own the Cedar Fair properties.
  6. It's good to see the current management investing some money back in their thrill rides. Back in 2006 I rode this ride a good bit and I loved it. Nice and long and packed a good punch. When I heard about it being shut down I was unsure if they were going to spend the money and fix it or just tear it down. Good to see they chose to invest money in it.
  7. I have mixed feelings about this. If we go through another corporate change then what will the new management do. Will they continue on with the current plan or will they switch back to the theme of thrill rides? I know one thing is for certain. These Noteholders are pushing harder than a cornered elephant, to get this company back. I wonder if they have big plans for the parks if they do manage to take control of the company. Or will they fix up the parks and then sell them to a bigger company? It wouldn't surprise me if they spent a few years with the company and then try and strike a deal with Warner Bros for a buyout. Warner Bros just recently bought a majority stake in Rock Steady Games, which now strengthens their connection to the Batman Arkham Asylum franchise. If Warner Bros owned Six Flags parks, this could open up new ideas for possible indoor Arkham Asylum rides. Never said it was going to happen. Just a thought I had in mind. http://www.dailyherald.com/story/?id=362620 http://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/warner-bros-home-entertainment-group-acquires-majority-stake-in-rocksteady-studios,1174604.shtml
  8. I'm still glad someone agrees with me. I also noticed with Jokers Jinx that there is a beep sound under the platform where the train is that continues to beep when the train is being locked down. And then beeping stops when the dispatch button is pressed and you hear the faint sound of the launch noise before it takes off. Then when it finally takes off you hear the actual launch sound. The ride never use to do that before. Either way, they need to put the ride inside and make it faster. Top speed of that ride should be a comfortable 70 mph. But the bottom line is, its not thrilling anymore. Also to add something, I have spoken to a technician that use to work at the park, and he told me the settings for the launch are suppose to launch it faster when it rains. We definitely did not feel that last night, as comments from the riders were being made while I was on the ride. Second, there are so many areas that they could have used for haunted attractions at Six Flags America. They could have used the whole area where Two-Face use to be and built some huge maze. Another big area, that they could be using is the Gotham Arena. They could use the whole entrance and ground level as a maze. If they were lucky enough, maybe they could have called in some experts and theme it really well. Maybe even gotten permission from D.C. Comics to call it (Arkham Asylum). You never know, it may have became a great thing sense (Brutal Planet's) removal, which was another bad decision. Any thoughts?
  9. I just got back from Six Flags America for it's Fright Fest and I have to say I'm not impressed. Nothing there really scared me. I think the park has gone way too family friendly with this part of the season. They really need more haunted attractions and they need to bring Brutal Planet back. The Haunted train ride was not even worth the 5 bucks. Superman broke an hour before the park closed which made a lot of people mad. The paint job on the ride looks pretty cool though. Joker's Jinx created a bit of a good effect with the strobe light in the tunnel, but the ride would still be better if it were inside. And did they slow Jokers Jinx down a bit. I noticed that the ride was a lot slower than what it normally is. People who were on the ride even made the same comment about it being slow. Any thoughts?
  10. It would be cool if we had a Batman Arkham Asylum ride, built my Premier rides.
  11. That's good that they are showing, they care for their rides now. Another thing the park needs to bring back is their old hours. They need to make the weekend days run until 10:00 pm. I miss riding Superman in the dark and it just seemed a lot more fun. Yea, the park is trying to save money but they are getting Thomas Land in 2010 and hopefully that will draw more people to our park. That means there will be a lot more people there riding coasters. If I'm correct, Thomas Land is going to be installed in Gotham City; correct me if I'm wrong. If it's in Gotham then it means that means there will be more people walking around in there. Or does everyone think the park hours are fine vs. Kings Dominion closing at 10:00 pm. just about every day during the summer.
  12. I just hope whatever we get in 2011 is good and worth coming back to the park for. It would be a shame to waste money on something like (Dark Knight) indoor coaster and watch the ride get old very fast. I would like to see another Premier Launch coaster. This one could be half indoor and half outdoor.
  13. I would love to wait another few years until the company has enough to build some sort of high-tech indoor ride. Would be nice if they could theme it off the new Batman Arkham Asylum game.
  14. Kingsdominionlover is right. How can you say that Flight of Fear sucks. On a saturday you can wait up to 1 hour and 30 minutes each time in line. Jokers Jinx barely ever has a wait. Even on a Saturday you will never see Joker's Jinx line as long as Flight of Fear's. And how can you possibly say that both rides are generally fast. One keeps its speed pretty much throughout the whole ride, disregarding the mid-break run, while the other lacks constant speed. And like I have said, Flight of Fear creates more suspense because it has good theming and it's in the dark. Just think about it. If I can see everything in the ride, before I ride it, I'm not going to be as scared. Let alone, Joker's Jinx gives itself away before the launch with the little dispatch sound. Flight of Fear on the other hand has a very faint dispatch sound before the launch so with all the people talking in line, amongs the subwoofer rumble, its very hard to tell when its going to take off. And some of FoF's ride attendants dont say anything before the launch. On top of that Flight of Fear cannot be seen before getting on the ride. Even before the launch, the darkness down the tunnel hides the ride. And for first time rider's this is very suspenseful. And when the ride slows down to a dead stop, it also adds a feeling of suspense. With the ride slowing down at the top to a dead stop, some people think that aliens are going to pop out of the dark, but nothing happens. Part of this mind set in people is created by being in complete darkness and not being able to see where they are going. When really all the breaks were put there for was to slow the current train down in order for three of them to be able to run. Again so many aspects as to why Flight of Fear has done much better than Jokers Jinx.
  15. I agree. It is a much cheaper way to market a new coaster. Think of how scary it would be in the dark for newer people coming to the park? The tunnel could be filled with fog and strobes to create a spooky effect. And all through the twist and turns could be completely dark so that you cant see where your going. I don't care what people say. It would be one of the best transformations that the new SFI management has done. This could possibly shatter the Dark Knight indoor coasters. Superman on the other hand could receive some sort of Fortress of Solitude ride transformation. This kind of theme would work well for the station. The ride definitely needs new trains because the ones they have always have seats that don't work, causes the train to have problems, and also can be rough in certain seats. Not to mention, it needs a paint job.
  16. And I still think Joker's Jinx would be a better ride if it were inside. That's the way it was suppose to have been when it was first built, but for whatever reason they canceled it. Not only that, but it could be themed more and advertised as a new attraction for 2011. It would go well with a (Chang)/(Bizarro) theme ride, along with a highly themed indoor Joker's Jinx. The way I see it, Joker's Jinx has nothing on Flight of Fear. Flight of Fear feels a lot faster and suspenseful when your riding. Part of that is because it's in the dark. I would love to see Joker's Jinx have the same thing.
  17. Hello everyone. It's been some time sense I have been on this site. How are you all. For those who don't know me, I'm from (coaster-net) so if you get some time, check my profile and you will see I'm a regular to Six Flags America. I see you all have begun talking about the (Chang) rumor. I also agree that (Chang) will be coming to SFA. We were one of the three rumored parks for this ride. Three reasons, why I believe we are getting it Chang, is one, we have not gotten a new coaster sense Batwing, so at the end of this year it will have been 7 years. Two, what would Great Adventure want with (Chang)? They already have Batman:The Ride, Medussa, and Nitro, which are very good B&M Coasters. Three, its only fair to give it to Six Flags America with us being rumored one of the parks to be sold. It;s much better for the company to take the chance now, with a ride being up for grabs. A lot cheaper than paying for a brand new one and if they make it into a (Bizarro) themed ride, it will attract a lot of people. Getting that out the way, lets talk about the park. SFA's new management knows that they are in competition with Kings Dominion and without the doubt the park has been losing people to Kings Dominion. Part of that is because SFA has lacked new attractions and entertainment for a while now. So it's time for them to get back on track. (Thomas Town) with out a doubt, is a response back to Kings Dominion's (Planet Snoopy). (Superman) on the other hand will have to bow down to (Intimidator 305). But the park could answer back to (Flight of fear) with installing a indoor building structure around (Joker's Jinx). People tell me that the park will never do it because they would have to spend money to install a sprinkler system inside the building, but in the long run it would be worth it because additional theming could be added to the ride in order to enhance the experience. Add a fog system and strobe lights, and you have a good indoor ride that is just as good as Flight of Fear. I have many other speculations about SFA, but I want to hear from the rest of you first.
