My thoughts exactly. I think this is why, for me, I will go through the effort of ranking my top 50 and bottom 10 (even if I tie some of those together because I refuse to choose a favorite) but everything else in the middle... is anyone REALLY going to care what the #168th steel coaster in the world is? It just doesn't matter at that point. I think people look at the top ten for sure, probably the top 25, maybe the top 50 and really anyone looking at anything else beyond that is probably just crazy into statistics (not saying that's a bad thing) and is just looking at the details for random fun and not for any reasons that would sway someone's decision to visit a park or ride a coaster or not. So in short, you're right...it actually doesn't matter. And we'll probably just remove this ride anyway next year, but I agree with those who say it's really not a coaster. I'm not even sure if I actually ranked it myself.

Yep. I absolutely overheard multiple people, including some in these videos that were posted, figuring out how they were going to make their reaction videos "go viral." I mean, look, it's not like I'm not guilty of it either, but at least my foolishness is more obvious that I'm doing it on purpose!

I will never understand why theme park nerds feel the need to always bitch and complain whenever one of these Premier coasters are announced at a park. They are a fun ride, the capacity never seems to be as bad as people make it out to be, they take up almost no room, and everyone seems to love them, including coaster enthusiasts. It seems to be a huge win for all parties. Is it that theme park nerds feel they *NEED* to constantly complain about something and this is just an easy target? I honestly don’t know, but it’s super annoying. I guess we’ll find out soon enough what they really are building.

All day long today people kept asking me "Where do you rank it???" "Where do you rank it???" and I think the fact that this was the #1 question people asked me, and put SO MUCH weight into the answer, is why I was hesitant to do the TPR Coaster Poll in the first place. And I know it sounds odd for me to say "I can't really rank it" because that we JUST PUBLISHED our TPR Coaster Poll! But hear me out... The answer to the question is, and this is not a cop-out this is an honest response... "I don't know." I mean, it's up there... REALLY high up there. But the reality of the situation is this... If you were to magically teleport me to any of these five coasters: Steel Vengeance, Medusa Steel Coaster, Lightning Rod, Wildfire, Outlaw Run, and I didn't have a choice of which one I got teleported to, I just showed up there in the seat already cresting the lift hill, I don't think I'd complain one bit regardless of which one I'm riding. And that's the actual truth! I told someone today "I spend less time ranking and counting because I want to spend more time RIDING, because that's the whole POINT of all of this!" So really, the ride ranks up there with some of the best in the world, and that's all you're going to get out of me! And what did I think of the actual ride? I mean, what can I really say? It's absoultely balls-out bonkers ridiculous. It just has moments that shouldn't be legal, that shouldn't have been possible. In fact, I was talking to the CP headest of the head honchos Jason McClure today and he told me "in all of my 18 years in this industry, when I was watching them put up pieces during the construction, it was the first time I would say 'are we SURE this is going to work???'" Because it just looks that stupidly insane. I didn't count the amount of airtime hills but it's a lot. I mean, 20+ maybe? And I wouldn't have been able to count them anyway because the entire time I rode I was too busy LAUGHING-MY-ASS-OFF throughout the entire ride! It's just one of those types of coasters. It is doing all kinds of insanely crazy intense things to you, but doing them in such an amazingly well engineered way that at no point do you feel like you can't just throw your arms in the air and have the best time ever! There's a lot more I could probably say, but instead I'm going to post some photos & video from today's event and then I'll let you all ask the questions you'd like me to fill in the blanks on... If you are familiar with RMC’s roller coasters this knocks them out of the park! It’s bigger, faster, and more out of control than the others! Congrats to Cedar Point! Some of them don’t even feel like they should be legal! Hanging out with Joe & Alan! These guys are roller coaster celebrities! Alan is responsible for the design and track layout of Steel Vengeance! What makes Steel Vengeance so unique is how much action there is WITHIN the dense structure of the ride! That was a big thumbs up for Steel Vengeance! Got to ride it 8 times today all over the train and every seat is GREAT!!! The fog did clear a bit so I could get some slightly better photos... For those of you worried about the size of the seatbelt, you pretty much have to be an elephant for these not to fit around you! I'm totally "okay" with them assigning seats. There were no bad seats on this ride and if it helps speed up the loading process, EVEN BETTER! "Yes, hi, I have no talent, where's my tent?" Oh, yes, that's where I am again... The fog really did make a pretty cool eerie setting for the ride. And yes there is themed ice cream. I didn't have any of it, but here it is... There are many shirts to choose from. Here's one... Here's another one... Some of the themed elements you'll find in the queue. I find this section right here very interesting. The profile of it reminds me a LOT of Mean Streak! I wonder if that was intentional as a homage to the ride, or not. It was still very overcast, but at least the fog was starting to lift. Here is the entrance to the ride. I highly recommend using that Fast Lane side as often as possible! On the approach to the loudest lift hill in the world! Seriously, it's LOUD! Like, ironically Son of Beast loud. Note that this is NOT a "complaint" just an observation. I think it adds to the character of the ride. Here's the front of the train. Oh man, it really REALLY looks like the sun wants to break through! Certain elements of the old Mean Streak station haven't changed at all! So the sun never quite came out... but it really tried! One thing I love about going to media events is being able to get shots like this with NOBODY in the park! I guarantee you it will be pretty rare to see this area look like this again after today! Would you believe this picture was taken on the SAME DAY?!?! About 45 minutes after the ride close for the media event, the sun broke and we had blue skies! Oh well, I'm not complaining because it was an amazing day. Just gives us all the more reason to hang out at the park when we are back in August! Seriously, the ride is amazing! I liked this photo I took today. The weather really made for taking decent photos pretty difficult though. Between the layer of mist all day and the brightness in the clouds overhead most photos just looked sort of blown out... This one turned out okay, though...

Our ridercam turned out GREAT! I'll post it on Friday so it doesn't cannibalize the other video we currently have up, but let's just say there is a wonderful amount of "hairtime" displayed in it which perfectly shows just how insane the airtime is!

The TPR 2017 Coaster Poll Results are IN!!! First of all we’d like to thank the 366 people who submitted ballots to the poll. I’d also like to send a super HUGE thanks to Chase & AJ! Chase for creating the poll and AJ for being a fantastic moderator helping to contribute to the content side of it. The reason why this poll exists is because the Mitch Hawker poll, which was IMO, the quintessential roller coaster poll for nearly 20 years seems to have fallen into a black hole leaving no polls or awards that exist that I would put real faith into the results. The way Mitch’s poll worked is that instead of being a “popularity contest” of “he who gets the most votes wins” it actually ranked and weighted people’s real life riding experience against each other. It took into account how many coasters you’ve ridden and how those rankings compare against others with similar experiences. It also meant that no matter if you’ve ridden 50 or 500 coasters, the results were “fair and balanced.” I will let Chase go into more details on how those rankings worked later in this thread. I would also like to point out that while we consider this the “official ranking” of the TPR Coaster Poll we consider this year’s poll to be a “live beta test” as we will learn many things from this years poll and make changes based off that learning for next year. Please also remember that the results can and will change the more people that submit a ballot! Your coaster riding experience matters! It is very common for national media to do a spot that early because of time zones. They may have something they need to get out for a 6am news feed and it has to be filmed and edited before then.

When I am flying across the world to visit a park and I have a limited amount of time, I want to spend that time RIDING not standing in line watching other people ride. The lines move fast, yes, but I've stood in plenty of "fast moving hour long lines" and Europa and as much as I love the park, I would have a much better visit if I didn't waste so much time standing in lines. It doesn't have to be a "paid" service. Disney has done just fine with their system being free and fair for over a decade now... When I visited the park last October I was surprised it didn't have such service and I did miss it as I was only able to get 1 ride on each of the main attractions. I didn't really use to agree with the philosophy but now when I spend a considerable amount of money to visit a park I want to get the most out of it and I'll pay a little more for that with no problem. I also agree that while the lines moved fast I still waited for a considerable time for many coasters. 100% agreed. Oh, and this right here is bullshit... So wait, with that logic you mean to tell me that almost every single park IN THE WORLD has been able to figure out how to make a fast pass system work in their park, but Europa Park, which IMO is one of the most intelligent well run operations isn't smart enough to figure that out? Yeah, sorry, none of what you just said makes any sense. I just assume that eventually you will see such a system in place and it will probably be one of the best "skip the line" systems of any park out there, because that's how Europa does things.

Remember though, at Walt Disney World they have all kinds of special "themed costumes" in certain areas. You'll be able to find them in their normal costumes still in the other parks.
