  1. ^ Yes, you were right before Elissa. Here's your trophy:
  2. Tomorrow is the LAST DAY to RSVP! If you plan to attend any of the meets, please either respond to this thread or email me directly at robbalvey@themeparkreview.com Hope to see you all at SFMM and the party! --Robb
  3. ^^ Oh RC, you're going to LOVE the Phantasialand segment on the new DVD then! --Robb
  4. Agreed. I mean, no...your wrong! Guys, gals, kids, dudes, it's ok to have a friendly debate, but please keep any flames to a minium. Thanks! --Robb "I hate having to close threads!" Alvey
  5. I seem to remember everyone complaining about the color scheme of Goliath when it first started showing up in the parking lot...."Orange and Teal?!?!? WTF are they thinking!" Now we're all used to it and it looks fine. --Robb "Let's worry more about the ride itself and not the color!" Alvey
  6. Dammit! You should have gone out to Parque Espana! IMO it's not a true Japan trip if you don't go to Parque Espana in a typhoon! --Robb "At least you could have gotten the Bullfight coaster credit!" Alvey
  7. I always think back to MGM's opening year. Wow, that place had NOTHING. We were done with that in like two hours during the preview week! I mean, what did they have, Catastrophe Canyon, Great Movie Ride, Indy Stunt Show, Superstar Television, Monster Sound Show, and the Animation Tour? I honestly think that was about it! Star Tours wasn't even open then! It's funny to think that Disney Studios Paris actually has MORE than MGM did for it's opening! --Robb "And look at what MGM has become now!" Alvey
  8. ^ Well considering that one of the webmasters of this board works for the special olympics and the other one does volunteer work I totally understand what you mean. On the other hand, the photo that Wes posted is REALLY fucking funny!!!!! --Robb "Just because you see something horrible in the news doesn't mean we can't use humor as a way of dealing with it." Alvey
  9. When you have hundreds of thousands of people who showed up over the past few weeks just to ride the train and "look" at the front gates, let alone the millions that will pour through the gates over the 1st two years, most of them probably not ever having been to a Disney park before, why not open a park with just enough attractions and shows for your average guest to fill a day, and then add more and more in the years to come. Look, I'm not saying I agree with it, because I would much rather have all those rides there for opening day, but I certainly do understand it. --Robb
  10. ^Wow! That is awesome news! This is going to be one insane party! --Robb
  11. Glad to hear you guys got on everything at Fuji-Q. I wonder if there is ever a time where that park doesn't have hour long waits for EVERYTHING! Keep in mind we were there mid-week after school season had started and we STILL waited an hour for most rides and 90 minutes for DoDonpa. It was a nice, but frustrating park. Parts of it reminded me Magic Mountain, parts of it reminded me of Legoland. I just wish they had better operations to move people through the line quicker. That Fujiyama line seemed to take FOREVER even with three trains! Anyway, looking forward to part 3! --Robb
  12. Radio and records, neilson, etc is great to know where the top markets for television, radio, and other printed entertainment media, but for park going locations which thrive off local demographics you need to use the top US cities population. I too get monthly data on the sales of video games in the top US markets, but that's not the same markets for theme parks. Here are a couple of good resources. http://www.city-data.com/top1.html http://www.worldfactsandfigures.com/top_50_uscities.php --Robb "Data which is good for one medium isn't always correct for another." Alvey
  13. Ok everyone! There are only two days left to RSVP! Final information will be emailed out to everyone on Thursday! If you haven't responded to this thread or emailed me please do so now. All the names on the list are who I've received RSVP's from so if your name is NOT on the list, and you think you have RSVP's already, I didn't get it! The new DVD is just two segments away from being done and we look forward to showing it off to everyone this weekend! --Robb
  14. ^ Are you SURE about that? I find the following information on the top US cities: San Francisco doesn't even make the top 10! According to national data, it's #13. --Robb
  15. ^ LOL! Yeah....last year! --Robb
  16. God, I hate posts like this. Have you BEEN there? No! Do you know if it's "Mediocre?" No! Tell you what, after we get back from HKDL I'll let you know if it's mediocre or not. --Robb

  18. This is not the place for a religious debate. There are other forums out there for that. Last I checked this was a theme park fourm. Next post debating religion gets this topic CLOSED! --Robb "Nuff said." Alvey
  19. Just a note...if you go in the chat room now, we will be discussing Astroworld. Click the "Chat Room" link at the top of your screen. --Robb
  20. For those of you who might not have had a chance to visit this park, we have posted our video from our 2004 DVD here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/video.htm This park has always gotten a lot of crap, but personally, I haven't had a bad day there. I think this video shows off what the park has to offer. The most recent photos we took of the park can be found here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/tx2004/sfaw1.htm RIP Six Flags Astroworld. --Robb
  21. Wow....that's all I can say. For those of you who have never been to Astroworld, but want to see what the park is like, I have uploaded our Six Flags Astroworld Video Segment from last year's DVD here: http://www.themeparkreview.com/videos/video.htm My gut feeling tells me very few of the coasters will be re-located. The SLC, the stand-up (maybe), and my guess is the rest will become scrap. As much as many of *US* would like to see them saved, there just isn't much of a home for 20 something year old coasters that aren't in the best of condition to begin with anyway. Glad I finally got all my credits there! --Robb
  22. WOW! That was one hell of a trip report! Thanks Tim! I really hope this does not get overlooked due to the lack of Photos. Everyone.... PLEASE READ THESE TR's!!!! I'm glad you guys liked Thunder Dolphin. What you described is pretty much how I felt too, other than we went into with with really high expectations. And as far as food goes....ah, McDonalds triumphs yet again!!! Also good to see you made use of our guides and got to FOUR parks in one day! WOW!!! If you do it right some of the Japan parks are small enough where you can get everything done in a short amount of time and not feel like you are missing anything. Please keep posting your TRs, this is really good reading!!! --Robb "This really helps if people are interested in a Japan trip!" Alvey
  23. Wow, some of these are REALLY disturbing!!!!
