  1. http://www.rcdb.com/ig1436.htm?picture=5 Sometimes you gotta wonder how good we have it in the states...Just imagine if the theming on Space Mountain was as bad as that. Those look like those lights you get at Walmart for 5 dollars.
  2. I'm appalled at how little some of you guys actually know about this park. Astroworld treatment? Come one guys, in the third quarter earning it was even stated that Geauga Lake's attendance has been improving since WWK was put in. Even if the locals are mad they took the animals out, it was still stated that attendance has rosed somewhere around 19% from last season (2004). I mean read this: "In addition, results at Geauga Lake continued to improve as the park’s new water park area grew in popularity as the season went on." Source: http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/press_releases/index.cfm "In August, attendance at our seasonal parks was led by a 7% increase at Dorney Park, a 23% increase at Michigan’s Adventure, and an 8% increase at our five seasonal water parks, two of which continued to benefit from the hot, dry weather in the Midwest. In addition, attendance at our newest park, Geauga Lake, was up approximately 19%, or 33,000 visits, from August 2004, as the park’s new water park continued to gain in popularity." Source: http://www.cedarfair.com/ir/press_releases/index.cfm Obviously WWK is helping the park out a lot but it's cuts like this that aren't going to help the park. Someone mentioned above that the park is going to need new rides every year or two to keep people interested. But this park is not going to end up like Astroworld, Cedar Fair would not give up on a park they spent 145 million to get ahold of and 18+ million on WWK. I don't know why you guys are planning where the coasters are going, because GL isn't going anywhere...as long as they show some sort of increase in attendance CF isn't going to give up on the park. Besides, you act as if the entire CF park hasn't been slacking. GL and MiA by that press release are the two parks that have been having the most increase in attendance, I mean the chains pride and joy park, Cedar Point is down 2% in attendance, so are we going to be saying that omg it's going to end up like Astroworld as well? Just because there were cuts on WWK doesn't mean the company is giving up on the park. Companies make cuts all the time so I don't know why you guys are making such a big deal over this about. GL is not going anywhere.
  3. https://secure.townnews.com/shared-content/subscription/authenticate/index.php?domain=dailyrepublic.com&url=http://www.dailyrepublic.com//articles/2005/10/06/business_top_stories/biz01.txt&mode=start Umm, Six Flags Marine World rose their attendance for the first time in 3 years this year, they're one of the few parks that are actually holding their own, so why wouldn't CF be interested in them? The park is in good condition and except for a few rides *cough*Zonga*cough*, most of the rides are in pretty good condition. They wouldn't have to spend millions of dollars to repair the things that SFI left in shambles because most of the park is clean and tidy and isn't run down. Plus, they have an opportunity to possibly expand the park. The park is a land mine and any company (CF, Busch, etc.) would be interested in buying this park. I've heard several people mention they thought CF would buy SFMW, and I have no idea why anyone would think that. It would be the same situation they have with GL. Take out all the animals (because they have said they don't want to run animal parks) and you're left with a crappy park with vacant animal exhibits that the locals stop going to because they liked the animals. Personally, I don't see CF having the money to buy SF outright, or the interest. I could see them buying select (smaller) parks, but not the whole chain. That's one of the big things, SFMW is all about their animals. The reason their attendance was up this season was because of the the Ocean Discovery exhibit they installed. So that's why if CF doesn't buy it, I believe Busch would probably buy it. But, CF would be walking past a gold mine with SFMW, this park has so potential, and even if they don't do animals, this park is one of the few GOOD parks that SFI offers. If they looked past animals and possibly just hired a company to take care of the animals, Cedar Fair would be investing in a really really good park, that like I said has a lot of potential. Theres plenty of room for future expansion if they purchased the parking lot and moved it to the fairgrounds across the street. If CF could get their hands on SFMW and keep the animals, the park would hold it's on.
  4. But they have even enough money to spend 30 million dollars on one park... Plus dozens of Tornado slides, a new water park and now this coaster. To me, I think Six Flags has plenty enough money to tear a few rides down...It's the least they can do. Why not take Flashback down while they're at it...Maybe they could install a flat ride in it's place.
