  1. I would build every blue sky idea that armchair imagineers suggest for the park and then go bankrupt and then kill myself. Sure Disneyland would have to close down but it'll be the best damn year in Disney history.
  2. Disneyland is my home park (about 5 minutes away) and yes it's my favorite.
  3. It's such a stupid policy. What, they don't want you to take super high res photographs of rusted coasters and trash all over the ground? Disneyland allows tripods and all the lenses you want. For a park to ban those things is ridiculous.
  4. I'm pretty much sick of forces and being banged around on roller coasters so my vote goes to B&M and their smooth, quiet sand-filled designs.
  5. If you are an Xtreme passholder can you pick up your Flashpass anytime during the day or do you still have to get there early before they are sold out? So if I get there at 4 or 5 on a Saturday can I still pick mine up?
  6. When Space Mountain was in its Rockin' overlay I brought my mp3 player and the old Space Mountain music (Dick Dale and the 2005 version) and listened to them in place of Red Hot Chili Peppers. As long as I held the earbuds tight to my ear it drowned out the ride music perfectly. It was great. I also take the Space Mountain Paris music on California Screamin' occasionally. It works surprisingly well. Non-Disney coasters don't fare too well. The ear buds almost always fall out and it's a pain in the butt ot keep them in.
  7. I don't know about forever, but Ghostrider for the foreseeable future. Holy crap, what happened? I must have ridden Ghostrider hundreds of times in 1998 and '99. It was never exactly smooth, but now it's just painful. At least there's Silver Bullet, because Ghostrider is not a draw for me anymore.
  8. Sorry about your camera, but the park is not responsible for your stuff. I've taken hundreds of trips on theme park rides and have NEVER lost or broken anything on a ride, even the most intense coasters (cargo shorts with big compartments and buttons are a godsend). And I carry an mp3 player, camera, keys, wallet, the kitchen sink with me. But I do know that if they get broken or lost that it's absolutely my fault, and not the park's.
  9. Does the map they sell still have advertisements or anything like that? If it did its even a bigger blow. You have to realize that places like Disneyland and Six Flags only give out maps because they can get them sponsored and dont pay anything or very little to hand them out. If they couldnt find a sponsor for their maps I doubt they would give away free ones. Either way, the park aint paying.
  10. You are absolutely right, but it could be a problem that only manifests itself years into operation. I support keeping the rides closed until the investigation is over.
  11. Sorry, but as someone who loves amusement parks and theme parks and coasters as much as the next person here I want them to shut down every ride of this type until they find out what the cause of the accident was.
  12. If they are only going to open 1 station on Tatsu how about we get rid of some of those shameless advertisements plastered all over the park then? Where is that money going? THERE ARE OVER A MILLION MILES OF REBAR IN GOLIATH?? HOLY CRAP! The Summer solstice was yesterday. Let's hope everything is running at full capacity barring any other issues the rest of the season.
  13. Well the YouTube page says it was having some "problems". Hopefully it's a quick fix rather than a permanent solution and they'll get around to finding a proper fix in the future. By the way, I might have a bad memory, but did Viper used to slow down at the top of the lift? I was quite surprised on my recent trip that it didn't let up at the top but I can't figure out whether I'm remembering the right coaster or not.
  14. Have you ever drilled a park official, any park official, into why they do these things? Are there ever practical reasons for it where it is needed for rider comfort or safety or do they just want to cheap out on maintenance? The slowed down lift hills at Magic Mountain have always been a sticking point with me, but I could never find out why it is done and if they were designed that way.
  15. I hope it is because something like that can be fixed. I mean, if it was just a freak accident where the cause could not be determined, then it's sort of like a lottery. It's like, you have a 1 in 50,000,000 chance of losing a limb on this ride! We have no idea when it's going to happen and there's nothing we can do about it! I mean, a good example is the Big Thunder accident. It was horribly tragic but it was preventable and apparently they fixed their policies and brought in new management and that's why I ride with confidence. Now what if they had said they had no idea what caused it? That's a lot more disconcerting than anything else, not knowing. Time will tell with Kentucky Kingdom. I don't know which statement you are referring to but I am serious about both of them, yes. Make fun of white trash hillbillies all you want. I'm not offended. But it's been done to death and it's just tiresome. They are witnesses. You know what they mean. Criticizing their speech is just another chance to be an Internet elitist and show how much better you are than them. As far as the other one goes, yes, accidents like this do make me lose confidence in the industry.
  16. I think there have been some noticable improvements and they showed during my visit this week. The best part is that they are making an effort to make the park rules known to guests and have the appearence of clamping down on guest behavior. The only question now is if they are going to be enforcing them all Summer long. The park felt cleaner. I had fun. And that was that. There is still a lot of work to be done and hopefully they are serious about it and it lasts throughout the Summer, into 2008, and beyond.
  17. I won't dispute that it can't run a 1 station 3 train operation. But at some point, around the time the line hits 2 hours, they should really open station 2. Summer is here. I thought Magic Mountain wanted to turn things around?
  18. I do find it odd that so many people find it a priority to criticize the way these people speak after such a horrible accident. We get it, they're stupid hillbillies or whatever. It's a pretty common stereotype. How about criticizing the park for not being able to keep a guest attached to their feet? But no, the first thing out of your mouth is "This won't keep ME from riding!" and "It must have been a freak accident!" But yeah these country bumpkins speak pretty funny guys a-hyuck-yuck. It definitely has an effect on people. It makes you lose confidence in an industry you enjoy so much. I don't think it's wrong to feel that way.
  19. My first reaction is that this was caused by bad maintenance. I don't understand how the cable just snaps like that. There had to be warning signs, or at least I hope there were warning signs. Was the cable showing unusual wear? Were abnormal sounds coming from the ride? Hopefully this will all come out after the investigation, but I don't think I could ever be content with "freak accident". This HAD to be caused by bad maintenance, otherwise I'd be really hesitant to go on these things in the future.
  20. I rode this for the first time a month or so ago and it was just a terrible experience. First of all the pre-show is just so damn long and lame. The queue with the hallway and the room where you wait to board feels more like my workplace than an immersive theme park experience. The simulators themselves would feel dated even in the 80s. The ride is jerky and uncomfortable and just how many times do you have to crash through something? It wasn't that exciting the first time. I'm glad this thing is getting the boot. If they install more attractions like Jurassic Park and The Mummy Universal might actually have more than three things worth doing.
  21. Maybe they want to sell more The Flash Passes? Those cheap bastards.
  22. This would be the best reason to pick SFMM. As far as MM vs. CP go, they tend to be very similar to me so the debate about which is better has always boggled my mind. However, I would give the edge to MM if only that I prefer it's more rustic and hilly setting.
  23. I know what you mean but I still can't give up that awesome first half. It's enough to forgive the rest. The brakes they apply to Viper have always been a mystery to me and I've given up trying to figure it out.
  24. I realize I am late to the party, but Just report them to the cast member next time. There is no reason you had to get into a pissing contest with them. I agree that security is a joke at DL. The girl should have been thrown out of the park, but your group should have been thrown out of line for telling her to shut up over and over, making things worse in the process. Let me just say, you did not make the situation easier for the cast member. They probably just didn't want to deal with ANY of you. I go to the park every week and things like that are a rarity. If you think Disneyland has lost it's magic because of society or whatever, you are either delusional or an elitist and let isolated incidents ruin your day. The vast majority of people who go to the park just want to have a good time and not bother anyone, and that's what I see every time. Fact: It's also California, which has a more diverse mix of ethnicities. Go to parks elsewhere in the United States and you'll see badly behaved white people.
  25. Goliath: 2 trains, 5 minute wait almost all day. Viper: 2 trains, walk on. Riddler: 2 trains, hit this in the morning so I don't know what the midday wait time was. Ninja: 1 train, Looked like a LONG wait, used single rider line and waited 5 minutes. Superman: Opened in the afternoon with 1 train, didn't bother going over there. Tatsu: Opened around 11AM with a 1 hour line. Hit 2 according to ride ops later in the day. It was only running 2 trains. There was pretty much no reason not to run three trains so I have no idea what problems they were having that day. Deja Vu: 1 train, duh. It had a long wait but I used the single rider line. Batman: 2 trains, short wait. It's a slow loader. Slower than the Submarine Voyage. I have only ever ridden it at opening. Even when the line starts IN THE STATION there is a 30 minute wait. I didn't bother with Colossus or Revolution either because I hate them.
