Oh! thanks for reminding me, I knew I was forgetting something! As of 2-15-12, Only three areas of track to add: the far turnaround, the turn before the Stengel, and the reduction brake. -

The first and second airtime hills are in! http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/t367-hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-88-2-15-12#6032 Here is a random photo of some of the details in Tudor Square to one of the buildings. Thought it would be cool to add. -

The scaffolding has come down around the elevator shaft to reveal a beautiful clock tower! Also more track has been added and they're at the point where the first and second airtime hills are ready to be capped off. http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/t365-hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-86#6028 I've seen this little fella lurking around a few times I would go to get updates. Cute little guy and scared the crap out of me one time when he jumped out of the bushes in front of me. This is where the construction vehicles would gain access to the path from the creekbed. It looks like they are starting to close this off and put up the creekwall. And for those of you keeping track at home, here's an approximate estimate from what I could see of track and supports that they have done as of 2-10-12. -

Harry over on the Project 2012 Facebook page has post an awesome update with photos taken from inside the station and around the ride. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/media/set/?set=oa.324553764248626&type=1 The lift hill looks steeper up close! -

Here's a small update from today. The bottom of the catwalks still need to be installed, but the lift track looks like it's done. From what I see, here's what Skyrush looks like right now in relation to the park's layout rendering. -

In the matter of one day of work, most of the catwalk for the lift has been installed, the roof for the elevator was installed. The station is starting to look great, by the way! http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/t363-hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-84#6024 -

Catwalks are going up and they seem to be moving fast (All of them that are up were done within one day). The first two photos were taken yesterday and the others are from today. http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/t362-hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-83-2-5-12#6023 What you are seeing is Looper paint. As you can see, there is some white paint from the 1980's paint job. -

So much to see in this latest update on Skyrush's construction. From supports to brake-run to lift hill and more so let's get to the update! http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/t361-hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-82-2-3-12#6022 Not Skyrush related, but still cool none the less. This cool interactive exhibit popped up within the last day or two and is choked full of candybrand, history, inforation, timelines, photos, and recipies and you can email it to your personal email address from it. I spent over 5 minutes playing around with it and I still didn't finish seeing everything on it. I recomend trying it out the next time you are at Chocolate World! -

If you've been wondering what they've been working on since topping off the lift, here's a small update. http://keystonethrills.megabb.com/t360-hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-81-2-1-12#6020 Another piece of track was added to the first drop... More creek wall was added... The loading station roof was added... Some decorative rock work seems to have been added to part of the station... And finally, the brake-run track was added. -

On that last Skyrush photo from the park, I think I found myself in that photo. I pretty much sat on the guardrail while they were lifting it into place in front of the first drop the whole time. I think even with the trees in full-bloom you'll still see Skyrush from Tudor Square (i.e. in front of the Chocolate House). As i was walking down to get those photos from down there, I was competely awe-struck at how tall it looked from there. -

As for the drop angle, I'm pretty sure that either the camera wasn't 100% level when I took the shot and that I wasn't looking at it completely from the side. Even so, it's steeper than El Toro, which has an insane first drop so I don't think 5 degrees is going to matter. Sooperdooperlooper's brakes do look different from what they were in the summer. The sidewalk goes by the MCBR behind the station so I was checking that out. Earlier last week the running lights were on. I saw some photos this morning that showed the workers moving the top-piece around with the crane and since I haven't heard anything today, I am willing to bet that tomorrow might be the day. I'll be going over again tomorrow afternoon to check it out. -

Lava Tennis ball? Might be the best Sci-Fi special effect moment. Reminds me of the Matrix a little. -

I don't think that picture I posted earlier really does much justice. Skyrush is slightly more visible than Storm Runner along Hersheypark Drive. If you're traveling on Chocolate Ave. it is really hard to miss once you pass the Hershey Story Museum. You only see the lift hill for the most part from these spots, but it still is noticible. -

^They added the second-to-last lift piece this morning. The rain is supposed to pick up later on, but dry up tomorrow morning. Depending on how wet it is tommorrow, tommorrow might be possible, but then again I could be wrong. One thing is sure, the thing is really taking to the skyline quite nicely: -

Found a new Contest on the Official website: http://www.hersheypark.com/contests/skyrush_animation/index.php Should be interesting! -
The amazing thing is that in both the '98 Ecstasy fire and the '10 Splendor fire Carnival offered passengers a full refund plus a complimentary future cruise. In neither of those cases was anyone's life in real danger, nor did people lose all their possessions and in many cases have to swim to shore. A 30% discount is just insulting. It said 30% off on future cruises. Even so, that is still insulting because I doubt that many of these people are going to want to sail on a cruise ship, let alone a ship owned by Carnival. Little by little their rep. is being ruined. I wonder how much it could hurt them?

In the news related to Skyrush, I really don't remember seeing a path for the cable to go from the lift motor back to the station. If there was, it would have Comet to deal with. R.D. did you ask for a pic of this? -

I was going to, but I've been busy lately. I'll post the next update here (which might be later on today). Taken by Walt from the Project 2012 Facebook group. With this section up, I doubt that they would want to waste any time topping it off. With a snow and ice storm being predicted for Saturday, it does make me wonder how that will affect it. -

Here's a new update from yesterday. Looks like they're coming close to the top-off. Included is also a look at the Tudor Square area with the Christmas decorations down. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/01/14/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-73-1-13-12/ -

Time for another Skyrush Update! The lift hill is now approximately 150 to 160 feet tall at the moment and still growing. http://keystonethrills.wordpress.com/2012/01/12/hersheypark-skyrush-construction-update-72-1-11-12/ As you can see from the nearby parking garage, it towers over Comet. In other news, Bear is getting some work done on it's motor. Hey R.D.... Three things in this photo: The station lights for Comet were on, the Skyview cars were in and around their station, and the relocated Looper Lanes building got a new roof installed. Most of the first floor walls for the station have been installed. They only have until the 1st of February to top the ride off since that's when the crane has to be taken out. Santa is still climbing the Comet. The transfer area is coming along. The new path is taking shape. The creek wall is starting to go in along it. Tiny Tracks's ride area is being torn up for Tilt-A-Whirl. Here is what the will will look like when it's finished. I hope the path is open by April. Nothing looks like is going on inside Comet's station right now. Skyrush dominates the skyline on Chocolate Ave. in downtown. During the summer, it looks like only the first drop will be visible. Looks close to 85 degree to me. Thanks for reading!
