Golfie Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 So I've been watching the weather, and It's supposed to rain tomorrow in Gurnee. Do you guys have any tips if it rains?
Erik Johnson Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Be careful of Batman in the rain. The oil from the lift hill can drip down to soil your clothes.
Golfie Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 Thanks. We'll try to get that done before it rains. How much does it have to rain for rides to get closed down?
benzo41190 Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 personally SFGAm during rain is a good time to go. Usually, everyone leaves and most of the rides stay open. When it is raining hard, Viper us usually open all the time. Last year we where on Viper during a rain storm and we got re-rides and very fast circuits! Really, it depends on the ride whether it will close down or not. Most of the rides will stay open so you will have no problems with closed rides. And you will have very little lines!
Golfie Posted June 18, 2006 Author Posted June 18, 2006 ^ Wow. Viper is my most favorite ride there.... so I hope it does rain today!
Erik Johnson Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 If it is like SFGadv, they run the coasters in the rain (except Kingda Ka). They do shut them down if lightning is in the area though.
ParkTrips Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 I did Great America in a light rain earlier this year, and as far as I cold tell, nothing was closed because of it. Great America has stellar ops.. Great America rocks.
shesaidboom Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 A little late, but rain is a great thing at SFGam as long as it lets up at some point. I was there for two days a couple weeks ago and the first day was very gloomy. There were very short lines for everything besides Superman and Raging Bull and the park wasn't very crowded. We went back the next day [both days were weekdays] and the crowds were unbearable. Lines spilling out of queues and hour long lines for mediocre rides. I would take a rainy day over a nicer one at this park.
