Blue0ctane Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Today, my father and I went to the 1 PM Rockies @ Marlins game. We had tickets for the Batter's Box (the area right behind the plate) so the experience was great. The Marlins lost 3-1 but it was still a great day for baseball. My father and I outside of the stadium. You get to walk through some super-secret tunnel to get to the field, and then through the Marlins clubhouse. We saw a bunch of players walking by. You're also escorted by security guards which is pretty sweet. We got to the field at 11:45; here was the view from our seats. They were doing some parade for the local Little Leagues. At 12:30, they had some softball home run derby. Smacked out of the park! The cheerleaders come through here to start their routine. Our seats were very close to the Marlins dugout. Sergio Milte delivering his first warmup pitch. You can see the ball coming in. Barmes with a pathetic miss. The Marlins after scoring their only run. Even the paparazzi comes into the Batter's Box to take photos. ---------- I'm linking these because of their size. ---------- http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/8541/p43027502ai.jpg Reed slides into first yet is called out. http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/5818/p43027520kl.jpg My award-winning shot of a ground out. http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/6075/p43027569wc.jpg Budweiser. Not the greatest beer, but it's not awful. http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/7328/p43027614kn.jpg The Rockies' relief pitcher delivers to the plate. http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/5938/p43027672sd.jpg Luis Gonzales after hitting the only dinger of the game. Oh look, it's the Marlins dugout. Correction: every day in the Batter's Box is fan appreciation day.
Blue0ctane Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 Yeah, they seem to be surprisingly good this year.
BelizeIt Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Wow a Marlins Fan! (I didn't know there were any left) Where is your "Paper Shopping Bag" for your head? Were you wearing it in the photos you didn't post? You were after all sitting behind Home Plate, someone might have actually seen you on your TV news broadcast, or on the internet on MLB TV. The Shame! The Horror! The Humiliation would be unbearable! So when the Marlins ownership bails out of Florida for possibly Las Vegas? Will you still be rooting for them? I'm also curious about your tickets for the Batters Box, they would usually cost you at least a Kidney at a Red Sox's or Yankee game, how much are they for the Marlins? But, all kidding aside, nobody can knock the fact that the Marlins have not one but two World Series Championships in the past ten years! The other mega-payroll teams can't make the same claim! It's to bad that things didn't work out in Florida, but I don't blame the locals for telling the ownership to take a hike when it comes to funding a new stadium. The Baseball teams are often given all sorts of tax breaks and subsidies, its ridiculous! Anyhow, your in for a long season, but at least you had great seats to watch the game! I've been to several Angels games here in Orange County, and my seats were never as good as yours!!!
Blue0ctane Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 I'm not sure if it was even aired locally because it was on local blackout and wasn't even on M-L-f*cking-B Extra Innings, and MLB.com doesn't have the free highlights reel. I'm pretty sure that I wasn't videotaped, though, because I was never on the big screen. And I hate how the first baseman always give the balls to people in the Founder's Club and not the Batter's Box. Oh well, it's still an amazing experience. Oh yeah, the tickets were $145, but it comes with a waitress that serves great (yet pricey) food, an indoors bar with television, decent bathrooms, cushioned seats, and a free game program.
BeemerBoy Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 wasn't even on M-L-f*cking-B Extra Innings Always nice to see good parenting.
CoasterJunkie Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Looks like the Marlins are having issues filling the stands...Look how empty it was. At least for the Spring Training Grapefruit League games, granted it was a much smaller venue, but all games were usually full and always a great time. I need to get over to St Pete to see the Devil Rays. Heard they have done work on their stadium, and things are looking nice.
ParkTrips Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Booo! Just rub it in my face that I have never seen them play in Miami I LOVE the Marlins but man do they SUCK this year. I can't wait for them to move to Vegas. build a team, win THE Series and unfold again.. it's a 5-year cycle... Oh and I HATe the idea of Cheeleaders in abseball. Actually, I hate cheeleaders period, but they certainly DO NOT belong at a ballpark. If the Marlins get rid of Miggy I will cry. We need to keep SOMEONE and since they got rid of my man JP he's my last remaining light of hope. Oh well at least I can look forward to a reaon to jet to Vega a few times a year... nic report - Joe
Blue0ctane Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 They got rid of my favorite player, A.J. Burnett. I was watching him on TV when he threw his no-no at Quacloam and I saw him hit a dinger in real life.
coasterguy618 Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 The Marlins suck, but good Photo TR! It looks like you had some great seats.
