ECZenith
It's been a few years since I've been to Niagara Falls, I was hoping one of our Canadian/Buffalo-area members could answer a few questions. I have seen the recent photos of the indoor waterpark on Clifton Hill, but isn't there a plan to build an amusement park with a couple coasters on the drawing board? Just where are they planning to squeeze this in? Also, I always want to check out one of the dozen or so haunted houses they have all over the place. I went in one called "Alien Encounter" a couple years ago and it was pretty good. The actors actually grabbed at the people walking through. Which of these haunted houses are worth the money? There's just so many of them and with me planning a trip for (hopefully) this summer, I'd like to hit a few. Any info is appreciated.
mightypotato
Isn't the water park going on top of the parking ramp for Casino Niagara? That's at least what it looked like the last time I was down there, a few months back. As for coasters, there doesn't look like there would be anymore room on the hill for them. Unless, part of the Casino parking is removed for the rides. As for the haunted houses, most of them are a total waste of money. If you have to go into one of them, go into one of the classics, either the Dracula one or the Frankenstein one. I personally prefer the Frankenstein one since they have a huge statue of Frankenstein eating a Whopper on its roof. Classic cheese. You should also definitely check out the Ripley's and Guinness museums. Those are always a good time. I miss going to Clifton Hill.
niiicolaaah
Nightmares and Creatures of the Night are pretty good. It's pitch black and you have to follow a tiny red light from room to room, and random terrifying things happen. It's was like 10 bucks a person last time I was there, which was last year. The other ones I've been in (Frankenstein, Dracula) are REALLY dumb. And everything is really expensive too. If you're into really cheesy haunted houses, check out Frankenstein and Dracula; if you want to be really scared head to Nightmares. Pile Driver is still not operating, in case you were wondering. I haven't heard anything about putting coasters in the amusement park(s) that they have planned.
ParkTrips
They have 2 waterparks I thought, one across from the waterfalls and one down the river and I think the amusement park (woodie and all) is going near the downtown one. Clifton hill was kinda fun but seemed like every other tourist trap ceneter. I think there was a space shot there too... maybe an upcharge? I dunno. They need a Star Flyer, imagine how awesome one would be overlooking Niagara falls!! here one of them is: http://www.greatwolf.ca/

niiicolaaah
^it just might... if it was on the American side it would never happen. But Niagara Falls, ON makes things happen.
BrownStreak
I am from Tonawanda (just south of NF, NY). The main indoor water park that I know of (Great Wolf- same company as Sandusky's) is not on Clifton Hill- its on the other tourist strip about a mile away from the Clifton attractions- I can't think of the district's name of hand. I haven't been to the Falls since my Canadian boyfriend dumped me a week before Christmas '04, but we used to go there a lot! I really liked the interactive dark ride and the simulator at the Great Canadian Midway. They had Fun House Express when we were there. The rides at Marvel were also pretty cool. The WWE ride was never operating when we were there and the shop was lame! The Bird Sanctuary is really cool as well. Riding the Space Spiral during the falls' lighting is cool too. The haunted houses were kinda lame, but the Hollywood Wax Museum was neat It was included in a Combo pass we got. The combo pass was like $15 US and included the Midway, Mini Golf, the Space Spiral, and the museum. Many of the ops offered to let us go again on each even though our pass only included one each. PS: I know that it is not called the Space Spiral- I just don't know what to call it other than the Elevator to Nowhere? I didn't want to say say Observation Tower and confuse people with either the Skylon Tower or the Minolta Building. PSS: Does anyone besides me think that the Minalta Building looks like a giant DQ Dilly Bar?!

Carnage
I think there was a space shot there too... maybe an upcharge? That would be the piledriver that Nicole mentioned. I don't know exactly what happened to it, but I heard it opened without permits. It hasn't opened back up after the goverment smack down. Bad pun I know. ECZenith
I consider myself lucky then... I rode the Piledriver the year it opened. There's also a small, Zamperla balloon ride on the opposite building on the roof. Piledriver was great, mainly for the view of the falls. This tower is much closer, but much shorter than the nearby S&S Sky Screamer.
Carnage
You must have been really lucky, unless it reopened that year. From what it seems it was closed just 3 days after opening. This was the best I could find so far: Link
mightypotato
http://www.cliftonhill.com/falls_blog/2005/05/28/party-time-on-clifton-hill/ Ah, found the article. From those pictures, it looks like they would have to demolish a lot in the area to accomodate the park. They would also probably be disturbing a lot of the quite nice natural scenery in the area. Personally, I'm against the idea as it would make an already touristy area needlessly moreso.
ECZenith
It was in 2004 that I rode it, the year Sky Screamer opened... my b.
