pinkfloydfanatic Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 I know Dixie Landin' is a small park with just a Galaxy & a Boomerang plus they have a waterpark. They are adding a used S&S drop tower from now closed MSAP in Panama City, FL. Do they have room for a major wood coaster or is the park landlock and have to remove a ride to add anything?
Olsor Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 If they got creative, they might be able to shoehorn something in there. But the park is pretty small, as you can see: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=baton+rouge,+la&t=k&ll=30.345417,-91.026117&spn=0.006092,0.013475&t=k
Cameraman Posted February 22, 2006 Posted February 22, 2006 Lets just say it's something that's been going around in the rumor mill. They have been doing very well (in one article, a spokesperson said that their attendance has been growing exponentially over the last few years). This year they will have MSAP's O2 combo S&S tower named Hot Shot and a Proslide Tornado called Azooka complete with conveyor belt. I would definitely expect to see further growth. Also, with SFNO out of the way for a season, they have no where else to go but up. If you ever visit, don't miss the world's tallest racing slide they have there!
pinkfloydfanatic Posted February 23, 2006 Author Posted February 23, 2006 I had trouble getting the google image to show up big enough to see the details. Can they aquired more land if they need to?
Cameraman Posted February 23, 2006 Posted February 23, 2006 I believe they do own that triangular piece of property north of the access road. However, with houses so close by, I doubt they could successfully build any major rides near there due to the noise. Also bordering the back parking lot by the waterpark is some high voltage powerlines. So I doubt they could expand much that way.
larrygator Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 I love this description of their Boomerang from their website, 75-80MPH The Ragin Cajun is a giant steel looping roller coaster that drops from 14 stories up. 14 Stories tall Built in Germany Most popular coaster ever built There are 34 exactly like this around the world The only coaster popular enough to be mass-produced 7 cars, holding a total of 28 people Runs 1/2 frontward, and 1/2 backward at speeds of 75-80mph Inverted loops throw 3.8 G's, forward and backward
stingrock23 Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 Yeah, I dont' think it would be big enough to add something really big. It's nice for what it is, but Blue Bayou is the real draw. It's become quite a little water park.
bdstrom Posted February 24, 2006 Posted February 24, 2006 That's weird. After looking at google map, I reconized it as Blue Bayou. I have not been there since 1992 from when I was about twelve years old. I am in a bit shock because I never knew they added amusement park (and changed the name to Dixie Landing?). When did that happened? Edit: Nevermind, RCDB is my best friend. http://www.rcdb.com/pd210.htm
