CoasterCrazy Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I will be going to WDW this Winter Break, I'm thinking about going during the week between Xmas and New Years. I have a couple of questions: Is it worth staying in a WDW Resort for the benefits? How many days does it take to visit all of the parks at WDW? How far in advance do I have to sign up to do the segway experience? Do they have any fastpasses other than the free ones that you get with your ticket? If I stay at a Resort which one would you recommend? I would also like any other advice that might be helpful.
coasters 4 me Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Well, for the Staying in the Hotel for benifits, I would highly recommend that. Even though I havent stayed in a Disney Hotel, dont you get like 1hr before the park opens to the public? And other privalliges to rides etc? If you do, I would highly recommend that you stay. I went to WDW 2 years ago at Christmas. The days before Christmas are quiet, but then once Christmas Day and on hits, you can really tell the difference. It is really busy. I went to epcot one day and Test Track was 4hr Standby queue and single rider was 2hrs. So, I would be prepaired for heavy crowds and some long lines.

A park, on a specific day, can either open an hour early, or stay open up to three hours later, for Disney resort guests. 2. MK= 2 day park Epcot= 2 day park MGM =1 day park AK =1/2 day park (E:E raises this a little) You should probably account for repeat rides, Downtown Disney, waterparks, and any other things you may want to accomphish during your stay. 3. Don't know. 4. What do you mean? Besides the "Surprise FP's" and the regular ones, there's no other "types"... 5. I'd recommend Wilderness Lodge. It's my favourite, but this is solely my own opinion. For most people, it ties between Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge (I've stayed at both). Good luck planning!

Plus some of them arent too expensive. 2. Well for Epcot and Magick Kingdom, it will take about 1 or 2 days, 2 days if you are planning to do every single thing. MGM and Animal Kingdom can take about a day. 3.Well, this I am not quite sure. Try asking an employee at Epcot or something. 4. Well, nothing more other then that. 5. Well depends on your budget. I personally like the French Quarter and Riverside. If you dont want to waist alot of money, hit up the vaule resorts. They can save you alot of money, and they look cool too. And here is an obvious tip for when your at the parks; make sure you try to go to all the popular attractions in the morning, they are always relativetly empty, like a 0-10 minute wait.

Extra Magic Hours and the bus transportation will be great. - Again, this really depends on what you want to do. Technically you could hit up all of the coasters at all of WDW in a day, but if you want to do more I would suggest to budget at least one full day at each park. During that season you may need more. AK can be less unless you're really into animals. - The Segway thing really depends. For that season you better book it ASAP!!!! They now offer two tours, make sure to get the earlier one as it is much better. During the offseason you can sometimes sign up the same day. I booked both of mine 3 months in advance and had to take the 2nd time for the 2nd tour. =( - No other fastpass programs at this time. - My personal favorite is Boardwalk. All of the Epcot resorts I really like because they are walking distance from Epcot and MGM (my two favorite disney parks). It really depends on your budget, and which parks you think you'll spend the most time at. For MK resorts I like Wilderness Lodge best, for cheap deluxe I like Animal Kingdom Lodge, for Moderates I like Coronado (but I have never heard a bad thing about Port Orleans), and for value I like allstar movies (but they're pretty much all the same).
CoasterCrazy Posted October 25, 2006 Author Posted October 25, 2006 I'm about to book my trip but I change my plans some! I will be in Orlando January 1-6 and I'm planning on going to Sea World also. I have a couple of questions. I hope I haven't wait to long to long to sign up for the segway experience! Will WDW and Sea World still be extremely busy during these dates? Since I might have to stay off site what are some good hotel recommendations? I'm thinking about trying to visit Boomers, would it be considered a day trip from WDW? Thats all the questions I have for right now.
SharkTums Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 It will not be as busy as the xmas/new years week, but it will still be bad. Book the Segway thing ASAP, if they're still offering two, make sure to get the early one. Offsite hotels: Where do you want to be close to? Do you want nice/cheap/convenient/amenities/what? It's going to be 3.5 hours EACH way to Boomers (in no traffic). It's a great woodie, but you'd literally get a crappy FEC and a good woodie for 7 hours of driving.

I know because Im running the half marathon, so allllllll the parks are going to open late these days and there will be a TON of people there because you are required to stay on Disney property in order to run in the event (nearly 20,000 people!) Also, at PI there is a after run party so everyone is there, that or at the parks. So good luck, Ill be there to run, no parks though... Colin C
CoasterCrazy Posted October 26, 2006 Author Posted October 26, 2006 Offsite hotels: Where do you want to be close to? Do you want nice/cheap/convenient/amenities/what? I would like it to have a shuttle to the park so that I don't have to drive. I don't want a cheap hotel, I plan on paying about $100 a night. Also, what ticket packages would be the best since I'm going to Sea World also? Edit ~ Thanks for the heads up Colin.
tonyblackjack Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Well I was going to start a whole new thread for My first Trip to WDW in May but there is no point in doing that, so I'll just ask here. We are flying out of Omaha May 25th and we are staying in Orlando for 7 days. I want to try and break away from the group one of the days to hit up Busch Gardens down in Tampa and Possibly another day for Seaworld if the rest of the group does not go there. I know all WDW parks are do not miss parks but it may be the last time I'm in Florida for a long time and want to get to Busch Gardens for sure and possibly Sea World which WDW parks Are Can't miss and which parks are easier to miss? Just need some advise on time managment and weather or not it is possible to do all of that in 7 days and actually enjoy the parks by not rushing?
