Busch Gardens Tampa

Crowds: Minimal 20 minute wait for everything.

Hours of operation: 9-7

Partners in crime were- Pj, Jacob, Sean, Chris, and me.

Weather- High 60’s clear skies all day.

 

Ok, this is late, but I have been in FL for the last 12 days and I just now got the time to write this up! And the fact that I have been pretty plastered for the holidays made this late as well.

 

So I get up at the ass crack of dawn and get picked up by my best friend Pj. We head off for some major coffee/sugar fix and go to pick up the other guys. Yes, 4 guys and me. Things get bad trust me. So we picked up the rental car, and off we went, for the 2 and a half hour drive to BGT. After having crappy XM radio and seriously horrible music on, we threw on a CD and were jamming for awhile.

 

We got to the park at about 10am and I made the boys go on SheiKra first. These guys ride coasters, but they are not hard core enthusiasts like I am. So they got to learn the proper way to ride coasters.

 

SheiKra- This coaster has been calling my name for a long time. The boys were watching it as we approached and were saying things like “I am not riding that or Holy ****” You get the idea. So we waited no more then 10 minutes for SheiKra. No assigned seating as I was told before and we hit up the back row. I talked them into it and told them, that they would get air there. We go up the lift ever so slowly and get that major hang time for about 15 seconds. And WHOOOOOSH! Off we go! OMG this ride is absolutely amazing. I got air all the way up into the immelman. The second drop was just as good, some serious yank over that was so much sweeter in the front row. We got two rides all day, one in the front one in the back. Front was great for the visuals it gave me a good gasm!

 

Kumba- One ride in the back right seat. Kumba is better then ever and still is so forceful after all of these years. She needs a paint job, but the roar got my blood pumping seriously good. Beemas are famous for their yummy right seat rides.

 

Python- Old arrow corkscrew. We did this I don’t know why, it was still kind of painful, but we did it.

 

Scorpion- Great Schwarzkopf. I loved it still to this day. Great hang time in the loop and Jacob and I were laughing the whole way through the ride. Chris was fixing his hair the entire time on the ride, it was hysterical!

 

Cheetah Chase- Jacob and I decided to crack up the entire ride and we were laughing so hard, and I think I got hit with some crazy thing off the lift hill. We waited awhile for this due to some huge power failure in that part of the park. No idea why, clear skies all day long. Still fun, I love the spinny mice better.

 

Montu- I still rank this right below Raptor. Sat in the front right seat, and had an amazing ride. The batwing is still kick ass! The theming is still awesome and the twist and dive was a great surprise, seeing as I forgot about it!!

 

Gwazi Lion- This side was wash boarding and really kind of hurt. It needs a bit re-tracking though.

Gwazi Tiger- Was smoking all day long and had about 6 rides on this side. We had 3 night rides and it was running so much better then during the day. I taught the boys to ride with their hands up and they loved the coaster even more! The one thing I hated was where the damn belts were, and the loading times were ridiculous! They were running 2 trains each side and not dueling them at all. The belts are in a crazy place and shouldn’t be on the side that they are.

 

All in all a great day was had. We took in the Christmas show in the main hall somewhere. But we had some huge plate of Alfredo. And off we went. We walked though Nairobi and saw the new baby gorilla. SOOOOOOOO Cute!! Other then that it was a drinking and coastering kind of day.

 

After the long drive home and belting out Oasis and some other kick ass 90’s tunes I got home and crashed hard core. I had a great time, and I know the boys did. They are now hooked on coasters. SheiKra was the favorite for the day, and I don’t think they can top that, though they think a drop of about 300 feet would be better. Not that I don’t agree, I told them not to hold their breath.

 

Great times with great friends can be the best kind of day. Free beer and good company is the way you want to be. I am glad I got to go and have some fun. More coasters!! Need more!

 

I didn’t take many pictures, seeing as they wouldn’t allow my little bag near any coasters, but got some SheiKra pictures, nothing much. I apologize. Hope you enjoyed reading my TR.

PS Wally kicks major ass for saving us a sweet load of money on all the beer we drank at BGT. I so owe you man!

Sounds like you had a good time, about Gwazi, They never duel it anymore because people were complaining about dispatch times since one train had to wait for the other when it was done loading.

Glad you had a great time at BGT, Katie. Really liked that you enjoyed ShaKira. Those were some decent pics, too, but a bit fuzzy.

I'm going to Orlando in May, and gonna head to Busch one day that week. The last time I went was 95, so I haven't even been on Montu yet. Sheikra just looks fantastic. I can't wait to ride this thing.

No man I didn't! When I saw your TR I wish I would have been able to meet up with you! Great TR by the way.

 

Those fuzzy pics were taken in the dark and when I went to lighten them, they came out that way. Sorry bout that.
