Robb, Elissa, or anyone: Do you guys have any tips on saving money once inside a So-Cal park? It seems like it's too expensive for everything! There was a man @ Burger invasion in DCA. He paid over $50 for his family of 4 to eat lunch! Ahhhhhhh!

A few ideas...

You could always take a backpack in there with you with a few packs of crackers or cookies to help get you through the day. In addition, you could freeze a bottle of water and as the hot day progresses, take swigs of water that has melted. MOST parks will give you free cups of water if you don't wanna go the frozen bottle route. If they are THAT chincy, the first aid stations ALWAYS usually have a verrrry cold water fountain that most people don't know about.

I know the local parks around my area have a Wendy's within a few blocks of the park, so we utilize the handstamp and go there for a quick bite!

Park food is rarely all that good anyway.

Hope that helps!

I pack my own. I usually take my cooler bag and throw in a hummus sammich, bag of pirates booty, iced tea and/or my h2o bottle with one of those crystal light singles.

Yeah, we normally don't eat inside parks unless we like one of their restaurants!

My advice would be to get there for opening, bring a water bottle...grab a snack (bag of chips, churro, pretzel) to hold you over, then leave and get food outside the park.
