jumbach Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Hi Robb and Elissa!! Our Orlando trip commences in just 21 days!! (Our wedding is Nov. 5, we fly to Orlando Nov. 7.) I bought us two 4-day "Park Hopper" passes. In your opinion, which of the Disney parks are the best to visit? We definitely want to do the Magic Kingdom and Epcot; is the animal park really all that great? (And how exciting are the water parks in November??) Also, I know there are no Six Flags parks down there, but do any of the other parks in the area honor their annual pass? We bought SFMW passes this year and never used them, except for a quick trip to SFMM. We want to get SOME value out of them. Thanks!
ParkTrips Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 None of the parks in Florida honor SF season passes. The closest Six Flags park is in Atlanta, which is 6+ hours away (not to mention the park is closed in November) If you've got a Park Hopper you might as well try the Animal Kingdom, though something tells me that the park can be done in half a day (I've never been and am not much of an animal person so maybe that's why) Make sure to do MGM too if you have the park hoppers. Hell, don't skip anything at Disney.
robbalvey Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Usually when we go to Animal Kingdom it's because someone else in our group needs their coaster credits. We're not big "animal people' so most of the park doesn't have much appeal to us. Also, their two main attractions, Dinosaur and Primeval Whirl, IMO are kind of meh.... When Everest opens that will be a different story. But yeah, unless you are really into animals and want to see all the shows, AK is a half day park at best. --Robb
moinab Posted October 20, 2005 Posted October 20, 2005 We love Animal Kingdom, but it's definitely a half-day park. Be there when it opens, grab a fastpass for the safari, hit the first show of Festival of the Lion King, skip the train ride and Rafiki's Planet Watch all together. Check out whatever else interests you. Eat at Pizzafari (or at least just walk around and check out all of the murals.) You can be done by 1 PM, easily. With 4 days, I would devote a day each for MK, Epcot, and DS, do the half day at AK, and then use the other half of the day for either MK or Epcot again. Actually, we've never spent a whole day at DS, either, but we have young children who get very impatient with shows, so there's not much there for us to do as a family. Have a great trip and post photos when you get back! Maureen "77 days until we go back to WDW" O'Donnell
ChrisZer0 Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 AK will more then likely be upgraded (in my book,at least) to a full day park when EE opens in the spring. It also depends on where your staying. If you're onsite, go for an early morning, see the sites, get credits and leave around 1 or 2
Mind Eraser Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 I was floored by Animal Kingdom. The beauty is just overwhelming. I spent about 6 hours there; but I was with my grandma, pushing her in a wheelchair. We just totally took it easy and just took in everything. The rides range from horrible to incredible. Kali River Rapids alone was worth the admission, IMO. Talk about a gorgeous ride. Dinosaur was okay (Indiana Jones @ DL was much better!) And finally, we have the absolutely horrid Reverchon Crazy Mice. I never imagined that such a shitty ride could exist at Disney. Not only is it tacky, it's really rough! Anyway, I would do Animal Kingdom for a couple of hours, if I were you.
Scaparri Posted October 22, 2005 Posted October 22, 2005 I've never been to the water parks in the November, but if it's warm enough, I would definately check them out if you're a water park kind of person. I know everytime I go down there, if I don't visit at least one, I feel like I'm missing something. EPCOT is actually my favorite park their, even though the ride selection may be less than stellar. It's just so unique and such a fun experience. If you've never been there before, I recommend reserving a night at some point for that park. It's a beautiful place.
