The Angry Darren Mullins
October 3, 2016: Fantawild Dreamland and Shennong Park (Zhuzhou, Hunan, China) Fantawild Dreamland: I first learned of this park when I visited Fantawild Adventure next door in 2013. Dreamland was under construction then. It opened less than two months ago and I got to visit it today. I had a great time. I got to ride my first Vekoma Boomerang in nearly 12 years. I was overjoyed at this after so many jungle mice and spinning coasters. There is also a good woodie here with the name Jungle Trailblazer. It is fun, but I like the one at Fantawild Dreamland in Zhengzhou better. The Tune Tour is like Its A Small World, except the scenes are all based on China's culture, cities, history and ethnic groups. It is nice to see the Chinese put their own spin on this concept. It could have just been another tour of the world in a boat. I like the Fantawild Parks, but operations are painfully slow-just like most every other park in China. Shennong Park: This park is in the city center and near the train station. I had some time before my train so I went here. This would be my third visit. A powered coaster has since been added. I rode it and left after a short while to catch my train. I have now visited 510 parks and ridden 1032 coasters and I have found 357 coasters before ACE or RCDB. I have arrived at the new Fantawild Dreamland. I have been waiting for three years to visit this place. This is just inside the entrance shortly after the gates opened. The castle here is very tall. Here is some odd scenery inside the park. Here is the must have carousel shot for this park. The Tune Tour would be my first ride of the day. It is like Its A Small World but themed after Chinese history, cities and ethnic groups. I love how they put a space shot ride on such a tall tower. It has been nearly 12 years since I last rode one of these. It is a Vekoma Boomerang. It is called The Stress Express. It really has been nearly 12 years since the last time I rode a boomerang coaster. How majestic this looks after so long.... I rode it three times. The Jungle Trailblazer became my 101st wooden coaster. It looks like it reaches the sky after so many jungle mice. Almost my turn. Yay!!!!!!!!!! A trainload of riders takes the plunge. Before I caught my train, I made a short visit (my 3rd) to Shennong Park. The parks still has this mouse coaster. This has been added since my last visit. It is a powered dragon coaster. This will finish the TR.
Gutterflower
Good to see this park finally open. I really enjoyed the clone of this Jungle Trailblazer in Tianjin but feel it would have benefited from the newer GCI trains. How did this one ride after sitting dormant for 2 years? The Angry Darren Mullins
This one rode ok. I have not been on the one in Tianjin yet. The overall experience was a step down from the JT in Zhengzhou and other woodies I have ridden in China. It is a smooth ride, but it seemed a bit tame,
viking86
Nice trip report, thanks for sharing! Some of the theming looks very impressive, like the entrance, main street and the castle. Love the idea of the space shot on top of the tower. What other purpose does that tower have?
The Angry Darren Mullins
I am not sure if there is any other purpose for the tower except for maybe a shop or food stand at the bottom. That ride was still most of the day. Maybe it wasn't working or something.
