The Angry Darren Mullins Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 August 20, 2016 (Kunming): Baohai Park-This small park is located a short walk from the Kunming train station. It is a very basic park, but it is nice to spend a little time in. There is a powered coaster here with a few other rides. I rode the coaster, took some photos and left. Xihua Park-It is not close to the Kunming train station, but for everything else, see Baohai Park above. Daguan Park-This park became my 500th park. It is a very nice park and is located on Lake Dianchi. There are three coasters here. They are all like other coasters I have ridden. I tried some Vietnamese food here after riding the coasters and then headed out for the next park. Haigeng Park-This park is also located on the shores of Lake Dianchi. There is a mouse coaster and there used to be a powered coaster. The powered coaster train is on site. This park is very nice and should be visited for the view of the lake. August 21, 2016 (Dali): Erhai Park: This park is located on a hill overlooking Erhai Lake. There is a small powered coaster here. The park experience I had here is comparable to what I had at Xihua and Baohai the day before. August 22, 2016 (Kunming): Yueyatan Park: There is a powered coaster and again, see Erhai, Baohai and Xihua parks to see my experience here. Kunming Zoo: This would be my last stop in Kunming. It is a nice zoo and there are two areas here with amusement park rides. One area has a Golden Horse Spinning Coaster, jungle mouse (not listed on RCDB) and a powered coaster. I rode all three of these and then found the other amusement area. The second area of rides has a new fruit worm coaster. It replaced an older kiddie coaster. This new coaster is not on RCDB. In all, as of August 22, 2016, I have visited 504 parks and ridden 1022 coasters. I have also discovered 353 coasters before ACE or RCDB discovered them. I am in Kunming and will visit my first park. It is Baohai Park. There is a lake here. There are also rides, including this small powered coaster. I took a spin on it. A short taxi ride took me to nearby Xihua park. This park also has a powered coaster and it is the same design as the one at Baohai park. I rode this one too. A short bus ride brought me to Daguan Park. This would become my 500th park. There is a nice flume here. Yes. One of these damned things is here. I have been on a few of these. This one was not as rough as some of the others like it. I rode one of these the day before in Guiyang. It is a fun ride, but a bit rough. Haigeng Park was next. It has a beautiful view of Lake Dianchi. This park used to have a kiddie coaster. They built a mouse coaster recently. It is like many others I have ridden. I like this type of coaster. I have been on a lot of them. I was in Dali the next morning and went to Erhai Park. This nice pagoda is at the top of the hill. There are rides here. This little ride is here. Yes. Another powered coaster on this trip. This is the third one of the trip for me. Here is the train. I have been on many of these. I was back in Kunming the next morning and went to Yueyatan Park. The lake here is nice. There are rides at this park. Yueyatan has a powered coaster too. This is powered coaster #4 of the trip. A taxi took me from Yueyatan park to the Kunming Zoo. I am so sick of these. The zoo has a big Ferris wheel. These types of carousels are common. This mouse coaster at the zoo is not on RCDB. This was during my ride on it. This would be the 5th and final powered Dragon of the trip. I was getting tired of these just about now. This fruit worm coaster at the zoo replaced an earlier kiddie coaster. I have been on others just like it. Many people enjoy this ride. This was from my ride on the coaster. This will finish the TR.
PKI Jizzman Posted August 24, 2016 Posted August 24, 2016 Always impressive to see how many parks you find and such, but honestly is it really worth it to go out to the park if there's just a powered coaster or carbon copy mouse that you've ridden a bunch before?
The Angry Darren Mullins Posted August 24, 2016 Author Posted August 24, 2016 It is true that many of the coasters are the same here in China, but the parks, while similar, are interesting. I do not travel just for parks, but if there is a mediocre park in the city I where I travel, I will check it out. The parks in Kunming were all very easy to get to.
