The original Poltergeist, that he wrote and produced. It came out the exact same year as ET,

(his ET contract prevented him from directing another film, while directing ET) and was such a

turn around from the loveable alien that ET was. And I got to see Poltergeist in New York too,

in a (then) IMAX-like theater seating. Which was awesome!

It isn't much like the others he's made since then, and it hasn't survived the test of time very well, but I enjoyed 1941. It could have been funnier, considering how many talented comedic and dramatic actors were cast, but it's still entertaining for all 118 minutes.
