My family and I,two adults and two teens, are planning a east coast trip where we plan on doing a few amusement parks over 2 weeks.I am having a dilemma over which way to go.I have purchased Six Flags season tickets,as they were cheap. The home park being Six Flags Great Adventure(As I wanted to include Hurricane Harbour) From there I plan to go either west and north to Kings Island,Six Flags Great America,Cedar Point, and back east to Six Flags New England or south to Six Flags America,Busch Gardens Williamsburg/Water Country USA,Kings Dominion, and back north to Six Flags New England.Which route would you choose? Or are there other parks I should try and include.

What's the ultimate goal of the trip?

Does everyone love coasters or are you interested in other attractions, too? It sounds look you have some water park fans.

The western route includes a lot more driving (especially including SFGAm) and quite frankly you are passing a few really good solid parks in Pennsylvania. I know Cedar Point is considered the roller coaster mecca and I quite enjoy the place myself, but I would consider less driving and ditch Kings Islands and SFGAm in favor of a combination of Knoebels, Kennywood, Hersheypark and Dorney Park (Dorney is only a consideration due to their water park).

Of the two routes you chose the northern route includes more coasters, but they is also quality in the southern route.

Thanks for your response.

Only myself and my oldest son are the coaster fans.My gf and youngest son will do some tame ones.We all will do other attractions. It's not all about coaster. We do like water parks as well.

Yeah the western route has lots of driving and that was something I was concerned about.

Are Dorney(with water park) and Knoebels each day parks?

Maybe do a trip of SFGA,Dorney,Knoebels,Hershey,SFA,Busch/WTUSA,and SFNE.

You can rush Knoebels but don't... Knoebels is a full day park and there's far more to this place than coasters. Plus from what you're saying about the preferences of the group you're with this is probably going to be the best park on the entire trip. The flats are usually either standard flats that run much better cycles than they do in other parks or totally unique flats that you can't find anywhere else and it sounds like everyone will be able to enjoy those together. They also have a lot of random, awesome things scattered around the park (a really good miniature golf course, fascination, 2 great free museums...) and the food is amazing. Dorney can be a full day park since you're going to the waterpark but it doesn't really have to be. If you go to Dorney after Knoebels you'll hate Dorney.

On the way to SFNE you'll probably be on I-84 which means you'll pass right by Quassy and Lake Compounce by the way. Just throwing that out there...

EDIT: And despite my responses to every trip planning thread lately, I don't work for Knoebels.

thanks.I will definitely keep Knoebels on my radar.

just a side note that I do wish to keep costs down and adding park upon park adds up.I would like to keep it down to 5 or 6 and 2 or 3 of them being Six Flags as I have the season pass.

My oldest recently got into coasters on our Orlando trip in Dec 2013,so I know he is dying to do more.lol Our group can split up for part of the day then met up and do rides together.

Dorney is a full day park if do both the waterpark and the dry park. If you plan on spending the day after Dorney at Hershey you should be aware that HersheyPark has a preview plan. If can you purchase your Hersheypark ticket the night before you visit you can spend those last two hours of the park's operating hours in the park for free before enjoying the whole next day.

Knoebels is a park best enjoyed at a slow pace. There are so many little things you want to take in.

Is it best to pay as you go at Knoebels or buy an All Day pass?

When we went last summer, we did the all day pass. For us it was worth it for Multiple rerides. But I could see a less avid rider doing the pay as you go route. Individual ride tickets are pretty cheap there.

Agreed. I'm the type that re-rides over and over so the Wristband is worth it for me. But even on my best day after totaling all my rides, individual ride tickets would have cost me about $50 when the wristband was about $36.
